I am pretty sure no offer has been extended.

Good Night y'all

I was told that UM reached out to Coley to gauge interest and that's all that anyone is saying within the AD's office in Tallahassee. My buddy said that he was under the impression that UM had not made an official offer as of this afternoon. I think this is one of those scenarios where both sides are in contact and speaking in general terms, with a lot of posturing mixed in. I think UM will not send a formal offer unless Al has an assurance that Coley will accept AND Coley passes the standard due diligence (background check). One thing I was told is that Jimbo would abdicate play calling duties (and has told boosters he's not against it), but that he's not convinced Coley is the guy to take the reigns. Not sure if that bodes well for us if he's hired, but wanted to pass that along. Wish I had something more concrete for you guys. D$ may be able to offer some additional insight.

Also besides the offer being made. D$ along with other outlets have said FSU has matched but Jimbo ISN'T at all willing to give up play-calling duties to Coley

I don't believe that that type of specific information would come from a reliable source. There may be some guy with ulterior motives floating that information, but I would be hesitant to accept it as fact. Not saying it isn't, but I have a hard time believing Miami would offer $500,000 to a guy who is relatively unproven and inexperienced. (My guess is Mario didn't come cheap - I'm certain he's making more than Fisch was making.) The only possible source of that information would be someone in Coley's camp, so if it was leaked, it was leaked for a purpose. And the only purpose would be to leverage more money and power from FSU. I just talked to a guy who works in the FSU AD office and he wasn't aware of that information. D$ is certainly more connected on the Miami side than I am.

dy,
This info is entirely from the Coley camp, which is a very important footnote.

This is plausible. I trust Golden - hopefully, he's not getting played by Coley in an effort to get more $$ and other concessions from F$U.

Like others, mixed emotions on the hire.

All I know is Coley is active on twitter and has had a buttload of people tweeting at him today and he hasn't said (typed) a word.

That's the problem. I know his source on this one. Could just as easily be an FSU guy ******* with us. It'd be extremely weird (as in, a lot of energy for a minor troll), but anything is possible. Maybe he wanted to leverage FSU a bit. D$ made it clear to be skeptical because it's on the other side. FWIW, I wouldn't in any way doubt the guy's FSU/Coley connection. It's very legit. I just wonder if he's being straight with what he's sharing.

If this guy's info is legit, we'll find out pretty soon. The good thing, for me, is that I don't really give a **** either way. I'm not super excited about Coley because I don't know very much about his Xs and Os, and he'd be a 2 and out kinda guy either way, probably. If he comes, cool. Mostly, because I trust Golden.

If the guy there doesn't know about it, Coley is doing a poor job of leaking it if FSU is still under the impression that an offer hasn't been made.

He's my pledge brother and I was in his wedding. He's straight with me, but there's no guarantee that Jimbo would involve him.

Last couple sentences is exactly how I feel about it.

The info dy has brought has got me thinking Coley may just be that ridiculous of a human being to be behind this whole thing

Sadly it would work though and hurt our current class. Im not sure it would be a good thing for them in the long run or a bad thing for us but for this class it would f*cking suck

Can you believe these ****... The top guys name is "Jimbro"! Lol!

thats actually the real jimbo fisher

he added in the R thinking it would fool everyone

Actually, it's because Jimbo spells the way he pronounces. And his name is Jimbo. He makes cajun swamp dwellers' names seem more mainstream.

Coley as our offensive coordinator temporarily excites me for recruiting potential but then I think about the long term prospects and the fact that as a coordinator he actually concerns me in a bad way more than anything... which basically puts me in the camp of I would much rather get someone much more credible as a strategist and playcaller at OC. Period. We haven't had that since Whipple (save it) and when we had him the rest of the staff was a disaster which severely hampered his effectiveness in my opinion.

I feel like a great strategist and play caller is all this staff needs right now to be one of the best in the country as a whole.

Im to lazy to read all 16 pages (so forgive me if this was already posted) but I saw that Manny Navarro posted this on the Miami Herald:

Florida State offensive coordinator James Coley could be on the verge of turning in the garnet and gold for green and orange.

Multiple sources close to Coley told The Miami Herald on Wednesday afternoon that the 39-year-old Miami High and FSU graduate has been in discussions with University of Miami coach Al Golden to fill the Hurricanes’ vacant play-calling position. Coley has told several people close to him he has been offered the job and is now weighing whether to accept it.

Coley, who makes $390,000 to prepare the game plans for the Seminoles before head coach Jimbo Fisher calls the plays on game days, was offered $500,000 to become UM’s next offensive coordinator, a source said. The source said that although FSU matched the offer, Fisher told Coley he is not going to give up his play-calling duties.

Coley was offered the offensive coordinator position at Kentucky in December but turned it down. He has been looking to get the opportunity to call plays on game days.

Former UM offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch left the team over the weekend for the same position with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coley called plays for FIU in Mario Cristobal’s first season as coach in 2007 and then moved to FSU, where he has worked as the tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator and most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Coley has always had strong recruiting ties to South Florida throughout his career, and his addition to UM’s staff would be a boon two weeks before National Signing Day.

At Miami High from 1998 to 2000, Coley coached future NFL players in Roscoe Parrish and Andre Johnson. He then served as the offensive coordinator at Miami Norland when Dwyane Bowe and the Vikings won a state title in 2002. He was then a grad assistant at LSU under Nick Saban for two years before moving on to the Dolphins with him for two more years.

At FIU, the Golden Panthers finished just 1-11, but the team was coming off an 0-12 season and was in the process of rebuilding when Coley left to join the Seminoles.

Lu, I've been lurking Warchant for a few weeks...it's confirmed on there side. Several connected and verified insiders over there have the same info you are getting. These are guys that openly laughed when the possibility first came up. They are ****ting there pants and say Coley is thinking it over bit leaning towards taking the offer. They also confirmed not about money, but role.

Btw, These guys are known to have direct links to the staff.
