AQM

AQM is a 3 and done type of talent. I see him getting on the field early and making something happen. He will get drafted in the first 3 rounds.

I think he could contribute like Vernon did his freshmen year.

Played in 11 games, garnering two starts first at Virginia Tech and against Wisconsin ... One of three true freshmen (along with FB Mike James and CB Brandon McGee) to play in double-digit games for the Hurricanes ... Ranked third among UM defensive linemen with 25 total tackles ... Tallied 12 total tackles in UM's first three games (at FSU, vs. Georgia Tech, at Virginia Tech) ... Recorded 5.0 tackles for a loss, including three in win over eventual ACC Champion Georgia Tech ... Also had a half a sack against the Yellow Jackets ... Had two quarterback hurries against Duke in UM's home finale ... Tallied five total tackles in the Hurricanes' regular season finale at USF ... Also had a career-high four solo tackles against Wisconsin in Champs Sports Bowl.

not a bad comparison.

Can't wait for this guy to suit up. He'll get his **** together and be in by the end of the month. I'm sure the staff is hounding him hard since he is, as stated earlier, probably the most important and talented recruit we have.

Maybe the most important, but I'll stand by Artie Burns as the most talented (long-term).

Golden HAS to get this guy on campus ON TIME. can not have him go PREP or JUCO or transfer to a dumb-dumb school.

if he gotta blow Shalala, so be it.

If my memory serves me right he should be fine. One of the many reasons he chose the U over Notre Lame is because one of the courses he is taking over the summer, a math course, was accepted for credit at the U and not Notre Lame. Other than that his GPA is fine and test scores good.

The lack of pass rushers has allowed this defense to get shredded by middle-of-the-road QBs who have been afforded the opportunity to get too comfortable. I never rely on freshmans to make a big impact on the DL, but this guy could instantly give us a guy who can at least disrupt the QB. We also need Bond.

Smart man!

You have access to his grades and test scores?

Hoilett. There's a name that rarely gets mentioned.

Anybody know how he's progressing?

What kind of role you think burns plays this year. Nickel back?

ST player and fringe contributor until later in the season. I see the DBackfield as pretty crowded right now. If one of the older guys - Highsmith or Rodgers - fails to show consistency or slips up, Deon Bush may go from that Nickel Roamer spot (where he excels) to a Safety position on Nickel/Dime defenses. In that case, I can see Artie Burns filling in for Deon Bush's vacated role. I actually think Burns would eventually be better at it.

He will be starting opposite of Chick by seasons end...yea I said it

I'm going with Hoilett depending on Gilbert, but Arab$$ will see some snaps no doubt. If he is qualified of course.

Between Gilbert and Hoilett, we better not see any 210 pound edge rushers this season. That was tough to watch.

Chick
Mccord
Gilbert
Hoilett
Assorted guys

Should be a cut above what we saw last year. Not saying too much, I realize.

If he can stay healthy, Gilbert might be the most important addition to the team for the 2013 season. That's a grown man ready to play right now at this level at our biggest position of need. Our pass rushers were an absolute embarrassment last year.

Everyone was up in arms about the DTs last year but DE is what really killed us. Couldn't get up the field, couldn't set the edge, couldn't hold the point of attack......nothing.

I too see opportunity to make a huge leap here especially if we add a healthy Gilbert. That's a very savvy, underrated move if it pans out. Not sure Hoilett is quite ready but I like the athleticism he brings to the table. He doesn't take a back seat to anyone in that area, not even McCord.

That's the cot**** truth. If you're going to run a grown man defense, you can't expect freshmen, OLBs or relatively untalented players to hold their ground. Like I wrote somewhere else, Gilbert had 9.5 tackles for loss last year. Our ENTIRE DEFENSIVE LINE HAD 22.5 TFLs in 2012.

The coaches rave and love shayon green any chance they get. Expect to see him get minutes before anybody else. He grades out extremely well...
