Anyone Got Some Class Predictions?

Don't count out White. IIRC, he's out for the year with an injury but he looked good this past offseason as a big blocking TE with a capability to catch a few balls. Dye has occupied that blocking TE spot this year but he is a non-factor in the passing game and teams don't really have to account for him. He's also dropped some easy catches. White - who played OL here for a while - may be able to fill that spot next year but perhaps be more of a pass-catching threat than Dye was.

Edit: I've seen this kid on a few occasions and he's a specimen. (No homo.) Tall, big, and lean. Actually reminds me of Chris Myers. He shed a lot of the bad weight he put on trying to transition from TE to OL. A Shannon mistake.

I hope you're right and that I'm proved wrong, but this kid has now been on the team for 5 ******* years and has not done a thing since being here. At the momement, I do not want him back for a 6th year.

No, listen, you're right, he hasn't done ****. But, then again, it's hard to fault a lot of these kids considering the coaching/development before Golden's arrival.

1. Keith Bryant
2. Jaynard Bostwick
3. Jamal Carter
4. Artie Burns
5. Ray Lewis III
6. Kevin Olsen
7. Alex Gall
8. Jeremy Kerr
9. Standish Dobard
10. Travis Johnson
11. Angelo Jean Louis
12. Matthew Thomas
13. Denver Kirkland
14. Tim Williams
15. Jermaine Grace
16. Alex Collins/Derrick Green

I feel pretty good about those 15. I think the last 3-5 spots are up in the air. My guess:

17. Michael Parker (attitude issues are a concern)
18. Stacy Coley (ditto)
19. Quay Bain (we can use him at OL or DL)
20. JUCO
21. JUCO
I'm more concerned about getting a JuCo DT/pass rusher than Coley, Parker or Bain.

Need at least two more guys up front ready to make an immediate impact next season.

That class would be a home run. What caught my attention is that Golden said 15-16 yesterday. Wonder if he didn't include the JUCOs.

Yeah, I caught that too, D$. I think he's planning on Cookie and Ben Jones receiving medical RS's for a 6th year of eligibility (e.g. Robert Marve, who's not having a bad year over at Purdue, btw). I also think he's planning on retaining more current players than we fans expect. And finally, he publicly stated he's already factoring in scholarship reductions in his offers for this class, which I took to mean he's essentially self-imposing 3 ships and targeting a team of 82. When you factor all that in, I don't think the class can be any larger than 16/17. So I think he can only take 1 Juco, 2 if Williams doesn't commit.

I don't think he is counting on Cookie or Jones returning or more players staying, I think the small class will more of a function of self-imposed sanctions than anything else. Why not self-impose in a "down" SoFl year? Better to get ahead of the curve than fall behind it, especially with the potential of the '14 class.

I am with Steve but it would be back for his 5th year.

PLEASE NO!

The only way I want White back is if Dye and Perry are shown the boot and we miss on JuCo TE's.

Or we can just trade White for a healthy kid like Beau (assuming he wants to come).

After 4 years, without any REAL signs of contribution or meaningful minutes for this team, I tend to not be too excited about another year.

You are right...I could have sworn he was 08 class. Either way...do not want.

Just so we're all on the same page, when you have sanctions and scholarships losses, you must be more efficient with each scholarship NOT less.

Show me something on the field during your 4 years here. That is what I say. Sanctions and wasted scholarships don't mix.

What are you getting at?

Transfers being brought in,

Keeping kids on the team who have done nothing,

being efficient with scholarships...

You know all things that contribute to the size of this class.

Don't forget we can still get to count some back to last year (EEs). I think there were 23 that reported in the fall. Davis was one of them and he is gone (Wonder if that is taken into account). So that would be 2 EEs that can go back to last year. 3 if Davis doesn't count. So 18-19 is very likely.

seems way too optimistic.

Probably, but who are the reaches in the top 16?

All of those guys are either committed, leaning our way, or legitimately 50/50.
Well id say Bostwick, Collins, Green, Williams, Thomas, and Kirkland. I wouldnt say they were a reach, but seriously doubt we land them all. im hopefull but id like to be realistic about all this
