Amari Cooper why he didn't put on for his city

You could say that for the majority of college football players from **** near every college in the US including Miami

No **** no you can't. His statement is all about context. If you don't understand it no need to chirp. His point was simple. He chose a college based solely upon football. If it doesn't work he's screwed because an Alabama degree is worthless. A university of miami degree especially in your field of study is **** near priceless... smh.

lol yea maybe if your in a specialized field like engineering or something. Maybe music. Other than that getting a degree in psychology or some **** which most football players get. Doesn't matter where you go for that.

Not sure who told you most football players get a degree in psychology... most football players actually get a degree in one form or another of business, criminology or broadcasting at miami. But regardless since no particular major was mentioned I'd assume wed be speaking on average & on average it's a proven fact that a degree from the University of Miami carries alot of weight with it. I'm not gonna get in a war of words over this.I don't know your background & it's irrelevant to this topic but it's a proven fact a degree from us takes you places. Sorry Ifor that doesn't meet your approval but it is what it is.

Where does it carry a lot weight? And compared to who? Its a good degree no doubt but I work in academia pursuing a phd and many of my professors and advisors received their degrees from either ivy league programs or the cali schools such as UCLA, Stanford, etc. UM isn't some golden ticket degree. We have good programs but just like programs like Bama, OSU, & LSU football made our school. That being said, I believe UM is better than those programs but like I said its not some ivy league of the south.

The academic world & the real world are not one in the same. We have plenty of programs that I wouldn't consider specialized that our degree carries weight in. I work in the entertainment field myself. Academia is a field of snobs. It's all about how long said schools have been around & how much Moss grows on the walls. Academia is certainly not the world Miami is intended for. Business, broadcasting, criminology, law, medicine, music only one I can really think of that's specialized is marine biology. We're a top 50 institution for a reason & that means something whether you respect that or not. I'm not saying it makes us better than the michigans, stanfords,Vanderbilt etc. But to make it seem like we're not better than any average school is ****ery.

Exactly. Let's not pretend like UM is an ivy league school. Unless these kids get a degree in a stem field, which carries weight almost anywhere then it doesn't matter. I'm not trying to be funny, but many people on this board would be surprise how much weight a UM degree carries outside of south Florida. This isn't some "Harvard of the South". Football made this school.

Yet again there's facts that prove this. ***** the Ivy league angle. Obviously that's something different but I know what I'm saying as I graduated from Miami as well. I'm not from the south,I travel the world & I do very well for myself. I know plenty of people that went to um that did the same. Funny **** to me is always the people who never settled on a major. Constantly changed up course loads & therefore end up working In job fields they know **** about. That's when they end up not having a degree worth something because they have no direction. It's not difficult. Have a plan, some direction & stick with it.

Why are the Ivy leagues relevant to a thread about Amari Cooper?

LMAO I understand every kid has there pros and cons when picking a college. No disrespect to Amari, but how about you take your team from the bottom to the top. Like Duke, Tracy, Deon, etc. Now im not sure about this, but didn't Alonzo Highsmith and company come along when MIAMI was nothing?

No, Miami was on the upswing then. You have to go a few more years to Lester Williams, Fred Marion, Jim Burt and Jim Kelly.

Cooper and Ridley and Juedy don't represent the 305

They are 205

Tuscaloosa is their city, so to **** w all of em

Naw 3-4 yrs of your life don't change where you from. Plus Jeudy and Ridley aren't from Dade. They are 954 from Broward.

Wher they grew up doesn't matter. They represent Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Here's the irony. Kids from other cities don't go on and on about repping their cities when they get to college. Wonder what made those players from Miami so special to begin with? Wonder why they started getting recruited heavily by other programs to begin with? Recruiters didn't care too much about Miami until MIAMI.

This. People are so quick to place blame on these kids. Its the ******* coaches job to recruit them and get them to commit and sign. Why would anyone want to play for AL blubber of all people.

Exactly... I don't blame them... I blame the coaches.... People didn't believe in Butch or Howard... Guess what? They knew what they were doing and found better players. Al squandered good talent then brought sub par talent.
