Alonzo Highsmith was the USA Today National Defensive player of the year.
Eddie Brown was better coming out then Aldarius Johmson. Amari Cooper was also better.
Amari was first offered as a CB here. He wasn’t a better WR in high school than any of the guys on that list.

Jammi (from my hometown of Ft Myers) was the inaugural Florida Player of the yr.
One of the most hyped recruits ever. Deion 2.0 they said. Sometimes I wish he’d stayed at DB for us and been a Charles Woodson type with snaps at WR. Some people said Jammi was overrated but as a HS prospect he’s up there with the best we’ve ever got.

I have a close friend who's father coached Jammi in HS.....Deion went to the same HS as me...North Ft Myers High....Same school as Warren Williams, Devine, Richard Fain, Mike Greenwell and Jevon Kearse.

The Davis Bros have every right to be on that list as well...Troy went on to break records in College. You can easily add Elvis Peacock as well. Legendary UM RB coach Don Soldinger coached both the Davis Bros, and an All American in his own right in Tony Smith in the late 70s....but Sarge will tell you that Miles was the best of them all.
I was going to add Troy Davis. Freddie is still the greatest.

Ben Hanks - MHS - was a beast in HS back in early 90s.

Godfrey Myles - on some legedary CC teams (along with Tim Paulk - they both became gators)

Kantroy Barber - legendary guy but went WVU. Think grades and just fizzled.

Darren Mickell - played in the NFL for a while

Freddie could run by you...over you...around you etc......Wasn't the laser timing like they have today...but I'd find it hard to believe he wasn't a 4.35 guy at 5'10 185.....
I can tell you firsthand. He was a sophomore at Springs and I was a senior at Beach. He was un****ingbelievable. You knew then this kid was on another level.

My Aunt and Grandmother lived in Kendall for many yrs....and I'd go and visit them from Ft Myers alot....in 1979 (before I went to Culinary School) I was able to see Freddie play 3 times....I still haven't forgotten what I saw.....

I've heard the stories all my life. My Ol' Girl was a sophomore at Springs when Freddie Miles and Uncle Lomas were seniors there. Obviously I never saw him play, but I'm amazed that he's still considered the best from our hood.

After 40+ years and cats like Willis, Mitch Greene, Gartrell Johnson(Shavers), Chad Simpson and Antwain Easterling. That's one **** of a list of backs that according to those who've seen them all, couldn't hold his jockstrap...

Gore is the closest I've seen to Freddie...but Freddie was faster and stronger....
