We also need to hold on to him. What happens if that transfer QB goes down and we're chasing Emory away? Then it's either Judd or Luke. Is that sound roster management?

Yes within the ****** QB room we have. If we aren’t getting mateer or a reasonable upgrade, I’d go with nickel and let him take his lumps if the choice is between him and those other two.

The Sooners have natural connections with Mateer, including his offensive coordinator (Ben Arbuckle) and quarterbacks coach (John Kuceyeski) from the past two seasons at Washington State.
