Williams is a guy you RS and is 240lb by the time he sees the field. Would love him and Muhammed.

At this point we just need to find a Square/Nanton type

Square? I hope we never find a Square type again. That dude didn't make a play the whole time he was here.

I don't understand all the recent love for nanton around here lately either. He was not much better than mediocre by my recollection.

By the time his senior season rolled around he barely got on the field. He had one decent season where he put up a few sack numbers. Other than that, he was terrible. Sometimes, dudes get legendary the longer they've been away. Pretty soon, guys will be waxing poetic about Jim Wilson and Brian Stinson.

He had 16.5 sacks for his career including 6.5 his senior year and 8 his sophomore year. Defiantly not a superstar but far from a bum.

And far better than anything we had last year

Dudes get too enamored with google and looking up empty stats. He had 6.5 sacks his senior year, which means he made 6.5 plays over the course of an entire season. Who did the sacks come against? Were they at significant times? Did they change the course of any games? Did he make plays when we needed plays? Did he get regular pressure on the QB and force bad decisions? Did he make a bunch of tackles for loss?

I remember watching the dude play, and he was a non-factor by the time his senior season rolled around. A bit player, who rarely did anything. He had a decent sophomore season and never got better and fell out of favor.

Ok, can we move on? This guy wasn't talked about this much when he actually WAS on the team.

He wasn't "far better" than anyone. Put him on that line last year and make him play the minutes Chick played and face the beating Chick took, and Nanton would have lasted about 2 games. You think Nanton played on some better teams with better supporting talent? I do.

This is kind of my point. I was expecting to see a significant cut above what we put out there last year. And, if Bond is 225 or so, can't we expect a guy like Terry to be the same? After all, he's younger and presumably has more room for growth.

Bond at his weight is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than Mccord or Terry. Add to it dude has more experience and pt at a high level than Terry at least. He is what we expect to see from Mccord in more of a reeady made package.IMO hes more fast twitched than either of the two and has more moves. Mccord though i like what i saw from him at times. We needed a ready made guy because quite frankly i dont see much edge pass rushers on this current roster and thats including Chick,Green our starters. Bond is 6'2 230 BEFORE off season conditioning expecting him to get to 240-245 before the season/.

TBH, I think that McCord´s performance (not his ability) has become somewhat of a message board legend. He showed a ton of athleticism, but rarely, if at all, flashed anything more than that. I actually really preferred the pass rush Terry was showing towards the end of the season to any moves Tyriq showed.

Terry like EJ are production machines!

Just have to make sure the mental aspect is right and there ceiling is limitless

Again, it's all about roles and expectations. Chick had to play 50-plus snaps a game and was a 3-down DE. Nanton, was a specialist who played on obvious passing downs and had one defined thing he had to do- go up field for a dozen snaps a game. Nanton if he was a starter, would never be able to hold the edge in the running game and would be a huge liability

Straw-Man argument

That's not the role he would play.

He would play the role that McCord and Terry played. You're telling me that he wouldn't have produced more than what McCord and Terry did?

LULZ. You claimed he was "far better than ANYTHING we had last year". Those are your words. Tell me again how it's a straw man argument to respond to YOUR EXACT words.

If you want to relegate the comparison to apples to apples, then I'd think you would compare Nanton as a true freshman to McCord and Terry. And, in that case, I'd take McCord and Terry ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

why cant they take the teachings of mcdonald and have donnell bennett replicate that, then get coley in the process
