All ACC Team Announced

Corn is right up there as 1 of the best CBs we've ever had IMO

He got WAY better from his junior season to his senior season.

Maybe Rumph can actually coach......

Anyone who tries to say Rumph can't coach is stupid or has an agenda. This was arguably the thinnest, least talented DB group we've had in a decade. Maybe the solid play was more Diaz than Rumph. But there is no question in my mind that this unit exceeded expectations. Now Rumph's recruiting is another story (so far)

Elder and Colbert played very well this year. Redwine, Jenkins, and Carter were all exposed frequently. But you're right, having a good pash rush and solid LB play helped out a lot. Young showed some flashes of being able to take over. Hopefully we'll land one of these recruits that can take over on the other side. Don't have a lot of confidence in Redwine being a starter here next year.

Young started growing up before our eyes the last three games too. If he can take a nice step from frosh to soph, we might be ok.

rayshawn Jenkins is a player no one likes to talk about but he has had a solid career at Miami. Had over 70 tackles this year 2int, 1.5 sacks, 3.5 tfl , multiple pads and a total of 9 ints in his career.

he also has a knack for untimely penalties, whiffing tackles, and getting hurt.

Based on everything we had seen in previous seasons I don't know many ppl who expected Redwine, Jenkins and Carter to all of a sudden learn how to cover ppl.

Njoku being left off the list entirely is a joke. Can't think of any other issues with the list though.

Not a joke at all. He needs another year bc of the competition at TE.
he isn't at Leggett's level yet. Or Hodges's . Yet

Funny thing about Corn. Some of these SoFla guys struggled to think some Tennessee kid could come in here and be great so they slow played him. Some dudes were won over by his play last year. I thought he was really good last year. That was when he won me over, and I thought even higher of him when he started doing his thing on special teams. That to me shot him up in that it just showed how good of an athlete he really is. I agree that looking back we will end up remembering him along the same lines as the past few greats we have had. Duke, Denzel. Great players on mediocre Canes teams. A guy that probably would have found a spot on almost any roster in our past.

As for Jaquan, lets not forget that Ed Reed was not playing great as a sophomore either. It was not until his Junior Year that he really blossomed. Jaquan is a **** good player that played a LOT of different roles this year. I still have very high hopes for him. He tackles very well in space, and I am hoping to see him become the centerfielder we need back there when given the opportunity. But I would have no reservations playing him in Carters SS role. But it seems we have a few SS types already on the roster. Maybe we end up keeping JJ there and mover Redwine if we get a few studs at CB that can play now. Like the Dean kid...

Read some of the threads from the offseason through the first 4 games. You'll find some "interesting" perspectives on football here.

What do people make of the fact Redwine was one of only four starting corners in the ACC not to allow a passing touchdown?

Technically, Jenkins and Carter were Banda's responsibility. Young, Elder and Colbert were all solid at corner. Redwine was up and down but I don't think he's physically built for the position. Might make a better safety.

All things considered, I think Jaquan Johnson was very good too. If you consider the fact that he was asked to play nickel, linebacker and safety and he handled all three. Maybe he wasn't an All American but he held it down out there.

We can start with calling him a "starter". Started 5 games, 3 against non cupcakes. That would be an interesting stat on Redwine if true. Certainly not indicative of how many big plays he gave up. Certainly no better than the 3rd/4th corner that we had out there.

Agreed, Redwine lacks coverage skills big time. Not sure what to make of Jaquan yet. He made some big plays but also got beat more than he should have. Hoping for growth because we've lacked strong safety play for a few years now after having Reed, Taylor and Phillips.
