I'm not sure if it's Guntwood or the other adult who has more influence with Alex. I can state unequivocally that the other adult not only has his ear, but is trying to push him out of state.

I believe we all have an idea why Guntwood is pushing Alex in that direction. Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that question with either guy. I can tell you that the other guy isn't pushing out of self-interest, and I'm not sure how hard he is actually pushing. He did make it clear to me a couple of months ago that he would like to see Alex attend UW.

I really hope Alex chooses UM because I think it's in Alex's best interest for a multitude of reasons. I also think UM is the best choice for Alex's family. I am pretty confident that there are some people around him including his teammates who are telling him that UM is the best place for him, and I know how hard the staff is recruiting Alex. Let's hope it works out for him and UM and UM's fans.

That's fine, and I respect that. I was just saying that since you had this big piece of news, it would be interesting to know who is pushing him, what type of person it is, what their influence is. I feel that's a valid reason, but if you don't, I respect that as I said before.

The same reason I'd want my kids to go away to college. In the end they will be allowed to make their own decisions, but I will encourage them to go away.

Its not like Plantation is right next door to Coral Gables. You can still "get away" while being able to go back home and see his mom when needed.

As far as I know, this man is not pushing Alex to Arkansas. He only expressed to me that he would like to see Alex go to UW. That was in early December (shortly after Gran left FSU and Bielema left UW). I've seen him a couple of times since then, but we didn't discuss Alex in either of those meetings.

That makes perfect sense to what we're seeing too. Ibis you and I should talk...

from everything I head (bits and pieces) and majority is from Peter & some from people who are close to the current players. Alex is most likely be a Cane.

I followed the past 24 hours from people I know in Arkansas, twitter feeds from people who were around Alex during his time in Arkansas etc. The kid is having a great time. That does not mean he is considering making Arkansas a favorite, it just means he is having a good time. that is all.

Alex is a very polite and smart kid and he will never insult his host by tweeting anything but good things about the place he is visiting, and the fans love him for that.

Something was said/happened during his visit to Miami that made Alex have the "AHA" moment.


Alex's coach, without even hiding it, wants Alex to go to wherever Bielema goes. Not Arkansas, or Wisconsin etc etc.. just wherever Bielema is .. thats where he wants Alex to go to. This is something that has worked against us from day 1.

I have listened to every interview that Alex gave and almost 90% of the time his Coach is there with him and his coach talks more than Alex does.

The best way to influence someone is to put talking points in their head. Gatewood has installed "running back by committee" in to Alex's speech.

The funny part is Both Wisconsin and Arkansas are currently recruiting/have high profile RB's and Alex, no matter where he goes. is not going to be a featured back. He is going to share the backfield, but his coach has installed Miami, FSU = RB by committee, Bielema = Alex the only RB in the team.

You have to wonder if there is money being thrown around here or a promise for future jobs for Gatewood.

I pretty much assume that to be the case.

First place I'd check is Guntwood's cheeks. Looks like he might be storing the loot there like a shady squirrel.

Why does he have to reveal a man's identity to a bunch of guys who don't even use their actual names on a message board? What purpose would it serve? Either you believe the message he's relaying, or you don't. The name of the person involved has nothing to do with the message relayed.

Don't know who IW is referencing but I had very similar info. I would have to trust IW's info on this based on what I know.

You should trust IW's info based on the fact that he's the most honorable dude on this board, and he's more tied into Plantation athletics than a bunch of dudes from outside the state.

Whether it is best for AC to stay close to home or leave the state is a matter for his family to decide and advise of, not a stranger. What makes this even more peculiar is he was pushing Alex to go to a particular university (Wisconsin) and not just to get out of town. Having said all that, I don't even think this person opinion has any bearing on AC final decision. Just my own gut feeling.
