Alex Collins reports in with....

My kid is at the U so i have become a new but big fan of the program. I have been to a few games and enjoy watching them on National TV (finding my kid @ the Duke bball game in the stands etc.) and have just started reading up on the whole recruiting process etc.

My bet is that Alex, or any other player, would not appreciate seeing his coach ridiculed on a board like this. (Who knows how ugly the twitter space might be?) I assume the kid likes and respects the coach since he hasnt played football but for the last few years it would seem that he has reason to think his coach has helped him so far. In addition, knowing his coach is influential in the process why give Coach some more reasons to feel less inclined to support the U? Many of you seem to think he already feels that way already so why validate that opinion and give Alex reason to be sympathetic to the guys opinion?

I dont know if these players read these types of boards but I assume they do as they seem to enjoy the attention they are receiving. I'd vote for reinforcing the positives:

US NEWS College ranking
School of Communication
National TV coverage
Big time local media Market
Procanes
A football program with SIGNIFICANT history
An NCAA "investigation" that is losing steam by the day
Terrific coaches that clearly have the support of the Administration
Family and friends attending your games for four years
7000+ chanting your name last week

Alex is smart enough to know that the few on this board that have insulted his coach don't represent the majority of the fans.

Agree 305. They go crazy over every little tweet. This is crazy. Pete gave u guys a high percentage on AC and you guys are going nuts over every piece of info. This will play out on our favor. AC was at the Duke game after his OV, so if Gatewood had that much influence, AC wouldn't of been there.

Has nothing to do with the decision. What Gatewood is and has been doing is simply wrong. Y'all need to not be saps, because y'all wouldn't be posting this yourselves if AC didn't retweet it and you thought it would affect our chances getting him. My problem with Gatewood is very simple. He has thrust himself into the spotlight, in the middle of one of the biggest decisions of the kids life. It's not cool when Gatewood does it and to be quite honest, it's not cool when Donnell Bennett does it either. The main difference between Bennett and Gatewood however, is that Donnell has been behind the scenes as opposed to action after action that wreak of attention seeking. You want the prime example of how a coach should behave during these things? Ice Harris. Ice continues to have stud after stud, and yet still has the character of a man that will tell his players to honor their commitments (6 going to 'SC when he wanted to cancel), and removing himself from the decision making process, while being an aid to Matthew Thomas and Denver Kirkland in any way possible.

Sorry, not buying the whole, "lay off Gatewood" company line. I'll refrain from derogatory comments until signing day, but that doesn't make Gatewood any less wrong for the manner in which he has conducted himself in this situation and that's regardless of whether or not he has AC's best interest at heart.

I WANT TO SEE COLLINS AT MIAMI (DUH) BUT ON TOP OF THE MANY OTHER REASONS POINTING TOWARDS MIAMI IS THAT ARKANSAS IS GOING TO BE ARKANSAS. THEY MAY HAVE A GREAT SEASON EVERY FEW YEARS AND MAYBE PLAY FOR THE SEC TITLE (TOUGHEST DIV IN CFB SO NOTHING GUARANTEED). Jerzey, I'm talking about the photoshopping and the other crazy stuff going on that's all. Yes, I agree his coach is going a little overboard but like it or not, this is what recruiting has become. Everyone gets to shine for a year. He is no Ice Harris or Bennett so he has to play the recruiting game to get his name out there. Also, guys on these boards are cursing KB all the time too. He's a 18 year old kid. Now, I don't agree with the way he is handling it either but again this is what recruiting has become. For every Duke, there are 2 KB's and Gatewood's.

Yeah I can't find anything either. It was brought up back when no one thought Wisconsin was a legit threat. I'm not sure if its a permanent thing or he was just staying with him for a bit, or whatever. Either way they are closer than your normal coach and player so yeah, he probably wouldn't appreciate the shops and comments here.

Ive heard and read this several times also. At least for some period of time. I mean lets face it, seems clear this kid would be all ours if it wasnt for this coach, but at this point, we might be behind the 8 ball if this guy is pulling out all the stops to get the kid to sign with Arkansas. IF these rumors are true, Id say its a sure bet Gatewood will be getting some kind of low level spot on Bielema's staff soon, or he's getting paid. Im sorry, but you cant tell me that a coach would be THIS consumed with pushing a kid to a certain school just out of "what's best for him".
