Al says we're a 3-4 Team SIAP

No Denzel:

DE Pierre - Jelani - Thomas
DT Stuckey - Moore - King - Jenkins
DE Chick - Kamalu - Valentine

OLB McCord - AQM - Hoilett - D. Jackson
ILB Kirby - Grace - Young
ILB Armbrister - Blue - McCray
OLB Figueroa - M. Smith - T. Harris

McCray and Grace aren't ILBs. Valentine isnt a DE either.

That and Valentine is more of a NT than Moore will ever be.

Chad Thomas may start off as a Rush (Jack) OLB. With a year in UTough and about 20-25lbs., he will probably move to WDE (5 Tech.) Kid is pretty **** strong, now. Imagine him 25lbs. heavier.

I see him behind Chick and Kamalu right off the bat at WDE. He's a pretty big guy already.

In our scheme I think grace likely is an ILB in our 3-4 looks. The fact of the matter is Grace isn't a great fit for the 3-4. He is best suited as a WILL in the 4-3 (similar to Perryman and spence). But he is talented enough to overcome "fit" IMO. With that said, I believe in the multiple look the 4-3 WILL is essentially the inside backer along with the MIKE.

@ diego I'm thinking Chick, with another year of UTough (getting larger) will move to SDE, leaving Kamalu to WDE.

anybody know where Mustafaa fits in? Does he have the frame to put on weight and slot in behind Chick or is he another one in the edge rusher category?

That was an excellent post, but you dont have some concerns about Moore at NT? I feel he is slightly to small to count on regularly as a true NT.

He's about the same size as Josh Chapman who was a great NT for Bama, and Moore still has 10 months to get bigger before he'll be needed to contribute. If we can add Cory Johnson or Michael Wyche to what is already at the position I'd feel pretty comfortable. Honestly a bit more worried about ILB if Perryman does leave.

Why would you do that when you already have Pierre/Hamilton there? Chick/Kamalu is a solid rotation as well.

Josh Chapman was literally one of the strongest men in the NCAA

True, which is why he was such a big contributor since his freshman year at Bama. I don't think Moore will be the same level of player as Chapman, but someone his size can play the position well given he fits other requirements. Strength isn't really an issue for Moore either, his squat number was one of the highest on the team.

Not all 300 pounders are built the same. And yes, squat is good, but can he play with leverage? The squat is useless if the kid can't play with leverage.

Unless you're a special one, DTs take a couple years to develop. Probably the hardest position (one of) where the strength level is night and day versus HS.

What I did see of the kid was a kid who got pushed around a lot last year. I didn't put too much stock into it since he was a freshman. Unfortuantely, he won't be able to RS this year.
