Al Golden Press Conference 8/28

Pretty sad that Miami fans will diminish a solid win against a ranked UF team to attack our coaches and team.

Solid win? Was FSU's victory over us a solid win? I mean, we were ranked #7 at the time, so it's a solid win, right?

The UF game was a gift from Chris Rix 2.0. That doesn't mean I'm not happy it happened, but I'm not going to make it into something it isn't like a lot of people attempt to.

At the time the game was played you didn't think it was a solid victory?

No, I didn't. We didn't win anything that game besides the battle on the scoreboard. I said it was like we stole the game or it was handed to us by Chris Rix 2.0. It was big beating them in the sense that who knows when we'll play them again, but that wasn't a win worth bragging about since we looked like a **** out there.
LULZ at we didn't win anything "besides the battle on the scoreboard." In other words we lost some of the integral statistical battles where everything is judged, but all we did was win the measly worthless game that everyone thought we were going to lose.

You can't make this **** up on here. You can tell who really gives a single **** about UM when they're constantly going out of their way to minimize a win against ufayg.

There's being a wet blanket crybaby. Then, there's a whole new level of miserable ****.

It was a win, nothing more/nothing less. If you go back and read the comments on this board after the game they are priceless. **** being thrown around like "We Back" and nonsense like that. We were dominated on the field, but made plays when we had to. 5 to 1 turnover ratio was the story of the game.

Miami beat the Gators because we had the better team with better players. Still do. The challenge now is becoming better than the Noles.

I'll tell you one thing. Al looks more relaxed than he's ever looked here. Hopefully, that means he thinks he's got something special brewing this season.

That's what he's told the admin and they believe him. They also recognize he has been recruiting at an elite level since 2012 and much better than Randy Shannon in any way including his 2008 class. They feel that with the talent he has brought in, wins should be more convincing, but they're giving him some leeway with that. The, "vibe," around the season and program as a whole is very positive from the admin's perspective. They expect major success this year and while angry are grateful that he wasn't offered the job from Penn State.

Whoever said he is without question here until 2019 is beyond wrong. The admin expects results now.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I wonder what makes you think this.

TedHendricksOffspring,

Thank you for answering my question. I must say I am surprised. I have lived much of my life around academics and academia. My father was Dean of Engineering at a major university, and a lot of the people we socialized with were college professors and their families. I have taught math at several universities and JUCO's, including UM. I think I have a pretty good idea what people in that sort of environment consider most important. I really don't know Donna and her staff personally (I taught there during the Tad Foote days), but what you say surprises me.

We were dominated on the field? Those turnovers that you say gave us the game, were forced. One of the interceptions was made by a great jump on the ball. Three fumbles? Go watch the hits that caused that. Perrymen getting his helmet right on the ball, others being stripped. Those turnovers were the result of the defense attacking.

One of their only touchdowns was off a blocked punt. How in any way were we dominated? Because they got more yards?

More yards equals domination in Canes land unless, of course, it's the Canes who have more yards.

Somewhere along the way this game has become the 87 Fiesta Bowl 2.0 with the Canes winning somehow...

We had key turnovers that enabled the win. As I stated, the 5 to 1 ratio in turnovers is what won the game. Not the yards, and certainly not the time of possession. Had the stats and end result been switched, the majority on this board would have said we gave the game away...

It was really really nice of them to hand the ball to Perryman and McCord wasn't like the tackles had anything to do with it.

So you agree with Incane?

Chris Rix gave us that game and our players had nothing to do with that game either?

LOL, read much... wow AI you are trying way to hard here champ. How exactly does our 03 team have anything to do with what was on the field last year?

You apparently don't read much either. INcane said it reminded him of Chris Rix 2.0. That is how it relates.

You should try harder.

Right. I asked you if you agreed with INcane re-Chris Rix.

Both games our defense forced turnovers and we won.

There is no comparison. Each team had 5 turnovers in that game. They nullified each other. We also won the stat game as well as the score board. So no comparison.

Forcing turnovers and physically beating up on the opponent doesn't count when UM does it. It's not part of football. UFayg was a late garbage time TD away from being blown out in that game.

This dude is the worst of the sad sack of mopes from the grassy site.
Dude ***** on this program all the time.
He goes over to the Nole board the week of our game with them to tell them he thinks
we have no chance....chided fellow Cane fans on a Duke board when their basketball team
beat our guys last year during that special season.
He's despicable.
I wish he would remove "cane" from his moniker.
It is a farce.

I had no idea who he was. Thanks for the background. Makes sense that he's an fsu mark because he was talking about his dad or mom's boyfriend or something being a monster fsu fan. All he does on here is find reasons to **** on UM. One of the worst cretins on here.

Not sure if he's an f$u mark, but I can tell you he's certainly no Cane fan.
All he does is ***** and moan and ***** all over anyone who dares say anything positive about this program

Takes sides of gayturds, nole, etc fans all the time on the other board.

I'm a student that works in the President's Office. That's the overwhelming attitude of everyone there.

I really don't know Donna and her staff personally (I taught there during the Tad Foote days), but what you say surprises me.

arcane,

No problem. I should expound a little bit more. The football team is not the primary focus of President Shalala and the admin at all. Academics are and always will be the most important topic they deal with. Any college worth its academic salt has the same attitude. But when the football team is the topic of discussion, standards and expectations are brought up. With the talent Golden has brought in, going into the 4th year of the staff, and viewing the schedule put out before the team, the admin expects improvement and results now. Results being a fair expectation of a Coastal championship, not necessarily a national championship. The difference between now and the Tad Foote era is the machine was humming along nicely with no need for the admin to get involved. Currently, that is no longer the case. The admin needed to take a more vested interest in the program. Once it's up and running smoothly again, they'll remove themselves from the equation. But make no mistake about. Academic attention and improvement are not nor will they ever be sacrificed for football priorities.

Seeing as you are a former professor at the school, please accept my appreciation of your dedication and service to the University of Miami.
