Al Golden Press Conference 8/28

I started following the canes and college football seriously around 98. The progression around the program - recruiting - marketing - facilities - has grown under Golden. How much he's had to do with it I don't know. His blueprint is definitely positive.

I will say this - college teams cannot go from zero to #1 in 2-3 years anymore. It is not possible with how elite the top players are - and how concentrated the recruiting classes are. We have to build a string of top tier classes (not by silly star rankings - but by production) to be relevant.

With our talent and recruiting I see us becoming very relevant in the next couple years. We may be a step behind that other FL school - but we are gaining ground quickly.

Auburn wasn't at zero. They had a really bad season but were loaded with top recruits.

Pretty sad that Miami fans will diminish a solid win against a ranked UF team to attack our coaches and team.

Solid win? Was FSU's victory over us a solid win? I mean, we were ranked #7 at the time, so it's a solid win, right?

The UF game was a gift from Chris Rix 2.0. That doesn't mean I'm not happy it happened, but I'm not going to make it into something it isn't like a lot of people attempt to.

At the time the game was played you didn't think it was a solid victory?

Slurpers are Golden fans.

Mopes are Miami Hurricane fans.

This is quite a dilemma. Maybe there will be some reconciliation after Monday.

So the group that would rather the season to be a disaster in order for a head coaching change are the Hurricane fans. Not the group hoping the season turns out to be really successful under it's current head coach? Got it.

I think some of the biggest anti-Miami people in college football are our own fans.
You got cry babies in here acting like someone shot their dog before the season even starts. I've never seen actual fans of a college team acting like this a couple days before the season starts.

They're so caught up in being right about Al that they've lost track of the purpose of having a hobby like being a college football fan.

We know your position. ****, some of us even share it. But for fck's sake put your fcking wet blankets down until at least the first half of the first game ends.

Everyone knows what happened last year, but to be languishing in that **** a couple days before the season starts is a sure sign of debilitating mental disease. Holy ****, you guys are sad, and I truly feel sorry for you. Seek help. I'm here for you if you need me. Just shoot me a pm. I'll keep your identity secure.

I couldn't agree with this post in it's entirety any more, especially the bolded part.

Typical response by a woman.

Ignore every stat of our team under this guy, and just pull an opinion out of the air because someone speaks well.

You'll note that the "MOPES" do NOT criticize the players.
You'll note that the "MOPES" bother to look up statistics and plot statistical trends to quantify what they're seeing on the field.
You'll also note that in general, the "MOPES" are long-term Hurricane fans who know chicken salad from chickenschitt, and differentiate.
You'll note that the "MOPES" are weary of hearing "next year . . . " We've been hearing that crap for more than ten years.
You'll not see "MOPES" projecting completely unrealistic expectations, whereas the less mature slurpers tend to go completely retarded in their expectations.

All of us, especially the "MOPES" would love to see our program perpetually return to the top 5. Those were some great times.

With few exceptions, a Head Coach that isn't in the NC title hunt by year 4 is not going to ever reach it. Again, stats.

So we'll see Monday if the "MOPES" are more grounded in reality when it comes to our coaching staff, or if we're completely out in the woods.

So When Golden took over after getting blown out by Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl with six recruits a month before signing day then one of the biggest NCAA investigations ever dropping in his lap, you thought by year four we'd be in the championship hunt? Yet, you're not the one with unrealistic expectations?

At this point in the process, I'm pretty sure we can all tell the difference between being negative, concerned or ****ed off and just being an *******.

Example: NVA, Chise and a few others who have been labeled "mopes" understand the expectations have not been met, yet are ready for the season to start to let the judgement to take its toll during actual games with different players, etc. The switch may flip negative, but they aren't being **** ups and ruining every thread.

Then there are the ********. Pretty obvious who they are.

You're talking about the absolutely embarrassing *** whooping that we suffered at Notre Dame's hand?

Just like the absolutely embarrassing *** whipping we suffered at the hands of Louisville a few months ago? That one?

And for the record, we haven't suffered any penalties from the NCAA - YET. We gave up a couple bowl games while our team absolutely sukked, but as far as losing scholarships - we haven't suffered from that YET.

I mentioned STATS of coaches who won National Championships, pointing out that by year 4, the handwriting was on the wall.

We can't even win the ACC.

I'm ready for Golden to put up or shut up. Siht or get off the pot. Fish or cut bait.

I'm tired of hearing, "turn your head and cough."

No, I didn't. We didn't win anything that game besides the battle on the scoreboard. I said it was like we stole the game or it was handed to us by Chris Rix 2.0. It was big beating them in the sense that who knows when we'll play them again, but that wasn't a win worth bragging about since we looked like a **** out there.

In year four we'll see what we have. However, the investigation was way worse than any punishment. When you're recruiting while ESPN and Yahoo Sports is telling recruits you'll face the death penalty, it's over. It's hard enough recruiting against FSU and the SEC without any issues. Not to mention all the guys that jumped ship to the NFL early (even though they didn't get drafted) to seek greener pastures afterwards. We weren't gonna get much better than we've had.

I supported Shannon going into year four and he completely flopped. Year four will show us who Golden really is as well.

Handed it to us. Like we handed them two dropped TD catches by Coley? and the one INT thrown?

So when we went 2-2 in the Redzone and they went 2-6, they gave us the points we scored on them, and then chose not to score when they were there. Just for us. The Gators said thanks for the hospitality and the spread, please have this win and canoe as a token of our appreciation.

Just so everyone is clear, Chris Rix lost those games and we did not beat FSU. Sean Taylor's game in the rain at FSU, FSU gave us that game. Our team had nothing to do with the score board reading Miami 22 FSU 14.

What part don't you get?

1) If we hand them the game -- fire the corches

2) If we win -- they handed us the game, fire the corches

Pretty simple. Win or lose, we fire the corches.

Edit: this may or not have been a haiku. someone please verify, could be the official haiku of the mope squad if applicable.

Exactly. It's the very epitome of unrealistic to think that taking over a team in the condition it was when Golden got here combined with the NCAA mess (it's amazing how people like Archer love to pretend that it wasn't a big deal) should result in National Title contention within 3-4 years. It was a complete ground up rebuilding project.

LULZ at we didn't win anything "besides the battle on the scoreboard." In other words we lost some of the integral statistical battles where everything is judged, but all we did was win the measly worthless game that everyone thought we were going to lose.

You can't make this **** up on here. You can tell who really gives a single **** about UM when they're constantly going out of their way to minimize a win against ufayg.

There's being a wet blanket crybaby. Then, there's a whole new level of miserable ****.
