Al Golden Move Incoming?

I’m going to have to see how next season plays out before I bury the guy. It hasn’t been perfect but the team has improved. The standards should be high for next season.

my biggest issue with the mario hire wasnt the hire itself but the contract. i dont care that we paid him 8 a year, but you could have done 8 a year for 5 years and not 10. there is no out for a program thats constantly involved in lawsuits with former coaches regarding buyouts
5 years is pretty standard to see if IT will happen. Mario's proof of concept was y3, and he lost to TWO unranked teams which is his MO.

Urban Meyer won at UF yr 2&4, OSU y3 but proof of concept in y1
Harbaugh doubled the Mich win total in y1, turned corner y7-9 on the natty.
Saban LSU proof in year 2, NT in y4; Bama proof y2, title y3
Coach O natty y3 (full time HC)
Miles proof y2, title y3.
Kirby proof y2, titles y6&7
Dabo is the outlier. almost not really proof in y3... title loss y7, title y8 (FT)
Pete Carroll proof y2, titles year 3-4

Agreed whether it’s Mateer, Mendoza, Emory, Nickle or Judd there’s zero reason for this team to take a step back next year and win less than 10 games.

After all, that’s why we had to do all that losing his first two years because we were “building it the right way” and making it “sustainable” right?? Well year 4 is time to “sustain” it and build upon it.
I see what you did there with the Mendoza Line...

This take is wrong on a few levels.

First, we needed a foundational QB, and Kaaya went on to become our all-time leading passer; starting him was the correct decision. Squandering him with horrific defensive football (sound familiar) was Goldens downfall, which began later that season when they blew the FSU game.

That was the transformative game for Golden that would have legitimized what he was selling. Instead, they fell on deaf ears as the empty words they were.

So no, there isn't an Al Golden moment forthcoming, you're living in the Al Golden moment right now.

Yeah, welcome to the ACC.

We knew this was coming - the SEC and BIG10 have crushed the competition.

Absolutely, a boring Clemson team snuck in against team from Dallas with zero national appeal.

A UM team with a Heisman front-runner lighting it up with the #1 offense and an AA WR was the ACC's best ticket but we blew it. It's no wonder they hate us. We haven't delivered **** for the conference.

BUT, we had the playoffs in our hand and lost to GT and blew a 21-0 lead to Cuse and let it slip away...

And we brought in Mario, Raddaddy and Zo to navigate us through this to the P2 -- "the right way"

this board is bi-polar. one minute hes a caveman who sticks with upperclassmen and the next minute hes already planning to throw the future qb who isn't on campus under the bus. Mario is alot of things but he will never tank a season.

If this board was in charge, all of these dudes would have been fired after Yr 3.

It’s just the next convenient boogeyman to excuse the failures of the blubbering Neanderthal on the sidelines
