Al Golden and his defensive staff need to board an airplane for Seattle and sit down and learn from Pete Carrol and his defensive staff. This is how UM used to play defense under JJ and under Coker in 2000-2001.

Why go all the way out there, Jimmy can tell him how he's ******' up when he gets back from the Super Bowl, if he was willing to listen.

grab a few players as well.....we have ZERO nfl players Seattle has like 53.......

smfh look I hate our D, our DC and at this point our HC as well. But Pete Carroll's system in Seattle is NOTHING REMOTELY CLOSE to what we ran here from JJ to Randy. It's actually exactly opposite.

The issue isn't that our coaches don't know how to get them to play hard/fast/tough. It's they run a terrible system for college, with parts that don't fit it, that is counter to the way every one of these kids was brought up to play, AND on top of that aren't very good at teaching it or adjusting to opposing coordinators.

Back in the day, didn't the Cornhusker and Washinton staffs come down to THE U the learn how to coach modern football. I am old but I remmeber being ****ed that we would let the do that. Osborne went on the win back to back NC and James shared a title with us, end our home winning streak, and kept us out of a NC. I son't know about Seattle but would be nice if Al packed up the staff and maybe went to Bama for a couple weeks to learn how to coach, or some place. They clearly need to up their game. We have much better talent with the addition of this class, but staff has shown no improvement. If he will not replace them, at least take them to class -- and go with them.

it's impressive to watch those guys play zone.. that hit kam chancellor put on welker, right after carrying the other receiver up the seam and handing him off when he saw welker coming across.. that's what we "should" be doing.

I would have thought he would have learned something spending all the time he spends with Jimmie Johnson....

A great defense is a beautiful thing to watch. Seeing guys always in position to make a play, gang tackling, consistent pressure on the qb, turnovers, being in the right gap and above all, being physical.

Can't lie; when watching great defenses, sometimes, it moves.

@PFF: Seahawks blitzed on only six of Manning's 51 dropbacks.

haaa....Orlando franklin says different...got his **** pushed in all night..

that is amazing but you could see where they had 7 to 8s in coverage all night....that running game from Denver had no one fooled...

Butch Davis defense was never good until he fired his friend Bill Miller. He hired Greg Schiano who brought an attacking style defense.

Eerily similar to what we are going thru today. Unfortunately Bill Miller was not best man at Butch Davis wedding.

Yes. It also helped Kam that the DL was in position to make Manning decide quicker. If he passes off J. Thomas and drops to Welker, but Manning is sitting in the pocket comfortably, he has an extra tick to see Thomas coming open across the middle.

The Seattle defense works because everyone is, as their players themselves admit, tied together.

AMEN>>>LOCK THE THREAD.......I hate to be an ***...but YOU ARE SO CORRECT and NFL players get it....coach D is trying that here and our players ( not knocking) cant grasp that....they don't trust each other to make the play..they see ball they run to ball....ball go by them and score....

Coach D has to understand college kids are not NFL veterans and what most where 1 or 2 years removed from High school....

what made our Ds great....playing as a team having leadership....trusting a guy to blitz knowing our corners or safeties can play man or a LB can cover a TE.....Seattle & San Fran do this very very well..... great POST LU CANE

Seattle's defense has a few similarities to what I imagine our defense when ran properly is supposed to look like. They do line up in the 4-3 primarily but they have 3-4 personel which allows them to be "multiple" and we all know how many times Golden has mentioned that he wants to be multiple on defense, Seattle's defense is so good, and so aggressive that it is really difficult to see but I believe that we are already trying to have a defense like Seattle's we just arent there yet.

Currently, we are not trying to have a defense like Seattle's.

“We want to be an attacking, aggressive football team,” he said at another clinic. “We don’t want to sit and read the play like you often have to with two-gap principles of play.”

We're so ****ed.
