In the grand scheme of things I'd rather us have Air Noland than Mateer due to the fact he has multiple years, a super high ceiling, and it gives us more money to get difference makers on defense. I'm not saying he is better than Mateer RIGHT NOW. I just rather have someone you can build around going forward.

Only if he brings Smith and we are confident in Emory starting
Judd needs to leaveI'd take both. Unrelated to one another. Emory and Judd may leave.
You are going to be the same person on here crying when you find out Mateer has a no contact tag on him... You will also be the same person on here complaining if Air Noland ends up killing it somewhere else, meanwhile Emory is going 17/35 for 175 yards 0 TD (9 of the 17 being bubble screens).
Welcome to the board Mr. NorlandIf Emory Williams or Judd Anderson where at Ohio State where do you think they would be on the depth chart....You are talking about a top 2 program of all time with the best roster from top to bottom in the country...

I didnt look at the other comments in other posts and believed he deserved his own post.
I understand the sentiment and even agree that we should look at Noland even if Mateer does come, but my question is what is wrong with 1 yr rentals? Oklahoma went from Mayfield to Murray to Hurts to Gabriel and then tried their own recruit and went 6-6.I mean even if Mateer comes we should look at taking a kid like this. We can’t continue buying 1 yr rentals every year.
It's only a bidding war(for P4 QBs) if the team has a bad season or if a player from a smaller schoo/stagel is trying to move up in competition. I have yet to see a myriad of QBs contemplating leaving the upper echelon universities coming off of a successful team/individual season. You are correct in regards to the positions though. It’s a bidding war every year
It’s the talent pool. You’re dependent on it.I understand the sentiment and even agree that we should look at Noland even if Mateer does come, but my question is what is wrong with 1 yr rentals? Oklahoma went from Mayfield to Murray to Hurts to Gabriel and then tried their own recruit and went 6-6.
I get it won't always work that way, but if we are a destination for portal QBs, I have no problem picking from the best for as long as it works.
Recruiting HS quarterbacks is becoming overrated.
He was 5th string at OSU behind the waterboy
Definitely true. I do think QB is a position where there are options every year, but you are right, it would be nice to develop a multi-year guy. I just think that right now, we need to stack a few 10-win seasons and I am not sure we can rely on a guy with no experience quite yet. It’s the talent pool. You’re dependent on it.
