Yep.didn’t bama win a national championship while not playing in the sec title game?

The teams that get a bye don't get a home game. All of those games will be played at the typical new years 6 bowl game locations (rose bowl, orange bowl, sugar bowl, etc.).Was talking about that yesterday. Conference champion wins and gets a bye vs no conference game and the #5 seed-------seems like the #5 seed is probably better, but you will be away vs #4.
Don't think so. They will absolutely consider "strength of conference".Nah. The committee is full of actual people, who won't like making hard unpopular decisions. If there are 7 open spots, and four 1-loss teams and eight 2-loss teams vying for them, they will send the 1-loss teams through just to make their job easier.
They need and excuse to not do so. Last year they had the Travis injury. So far, not such convenient excuses this year.

A 3 loss Bama will get in over a 2 loss SMU all day.
A 2 loss bama will get in over a 1 loss smu all day.
If it comes down to strength of schedule in the ACC, then as of 10/22/24 we are in with the best % at 41.9

I agree with the CBS take here. Maybe not Boise.I hate to agree with you but I do. I could see the SEC sending in as many as 6 schools into the playoffs. Hopefully its no more then 4 or even better just 3 teams
This is the best case scenarioDid you mean to say best case scenario?
We don't have to play a useless conference championship game.
We get the 5 seed, which is the easiest seed. You face the fcs school and then the big 12 champ.
And you get to host a playoff game.
Sign me up for this.
I don't give a **** about the ACC titleI'd quite like to win the ACC title. I'd trade that for getting bounced out of the Playoffs, just so we can finally point to it when everyone says we've never won it.

Sure. no end to not winning an ACC title. No 1st round bye just so you can selfishly have a home game, then we get smoked in round 2 because of our seeding. Brilliant idea!!!lol I would love that scenario, week off (no charlotte) then host a home game as the 5 seed.
You good bro? The 5 seed gets the big 12 champ in the second round. I’m not overly concerned with Kansas state, Iowa State, or Colorado when juxtaposed with playing Ohio State, Georgia, or Oregon.Sure. no end to not winning an ACC title. Thx for that. With that addition I think 5 and no conference game is def an easier path to championship gameThe teams that get a bye don't get a home game. All of those games will be played at the typical new years 6 bowl game locations (rose bowl, orange bowl, sugar bowl, etc.).
It could work out that we get the orange bowl and still get basically a home game. Add that to the perfect scenario.
There's been threads on this for weeks. But good to know you watched Pate this week.Lots of football left to play I know, but lets play an absolute worst case scenario for the ACC.
Miami finishes the season 12-0; PSU and Oregon lose, maybe UGA trips up somewhere and low and behold the Canes are ranked #1 or #2 in the AP.
Meanwhile, SMU and Clemson both win out in ACC and so we get the 3 way tie at the top and somehow our opponent record is the worst of the 3... See where this is going?
You could have the #1 or #2 team in the country NOT make the ACCCG and have a chance at a bye in the first round. Worse, given how the country hates us, the committee would no doubt put us as the 8 seed...
