ACC's Nightmare Scenario?

Yeah, that's not happening.

If Miami is 12-0 and is snubbed for the ACC-CG, and 11-1 Clemson plays 11-1 SMU, then the 11-2 loser is getting cut from the CFP.

No way the CFP snubs another undefeated P4 team from the field, though they would give us a super-low seeding.
I agree with you.

But if Clemson keeps beating the **** out of everyone and were to go into that game top 5 in the country and lost a close one to 11-1 SMU whose only loss was a potentially top 15 BYU on the road by 3, the discussion would at least be out there.

Every one loss team made the top 12 last year.
The top-12 isn't going to the playoffs.

EDIT:
I should say, "very unlikely".
The highest ranked Group of 5 and the Big 12 are the wildcards...and of course, the SEC.

This kinda feels like the “our chances to win the Coastal” threads

Probably 7, no?
Top 4, SEC #2, BIG #2, Canes.

If you read the playoff handbook,
The ACC at most gets 2 teams.
Big 10 and SEC 2nd best teams are guaranteed the 5th and 6th seed
The Big 10 and SEC get minimum 7 teams in the playoffs

If Miami undefeated and not in ACCCG, the loser of that game is out of playoff 100%

Scariest thing is if Miami goes to ACCCG u defeated and loses, they are not guaranteed spot, if they lose to 2-loss Clemson or even 1 loss SMU. And that’s 100 percent too. The ACC will need PERFECT setup to get 2 teams into playoff.

First off, in my opinion, the playoff committee is a controlled vote. They weren't letting the SEC go unrepresented last season, FSU gets booted. The #1 and #2 spots are tied to the Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl. They will do whatever to keep 2 of their racehorses (SEC and B1G) in those 2 spots. We don't want those spots anyway because if we win the ACC at #3 we are looking at 2 home games in the Rock if we keep winning. I only want the #3 playoff spot. All if we get in the ACC Championship and win.

thought we were in the clear

so if we, Clemson and SMU win out, we don't go to the acc championship game ?

The most likely scenario for 3 ACC teams getting in is for us to lose in the ACC CG. Therefore, I’m not rooting for this scenario.

If there are 3 undefeated ACC teams, the winner gets in, the team that didn’t play will get in but the team that loses the acccg will not get in.

Only path for a acccg loser to get in is if they only have 1 loss, it was a close loss and there was nobody “excluded” from the acccg due to tiebreakers

I agree. I also believe the only way 3 get in is if Miami loses in ACCCG.

If all of us are undefeated in conference, it goes to tie-breaker #5, conference opponent records.

Root against BC, Pitt, Stanford and UVA
Root for Louisville, VT, Syracuse and Wake
