ACC's Nightmare Scenario?

The real dream scenario is :

Miami undefeated but out of the ACC championship game due to all the tiebreakers we discussed.
Miami has an off week due to no championship game and makes a run at a national title. Maybe even wins.
Miami announces it is leaving the ACC for the B1G.

Lots of football left to play I know, but lets play an absolute worst case scenario for the ACC.

Miami finishes the season 12-0; PSU and Oregon lose, maybe UGA trips up somewhere and low and behold the Canes are ranked #1 or #2 in the AP.

Meanwhile, SMU and Clemson both win out in ACC and so we get the 3 way tie at the top and somehow our opponent record is the worst of the 3... See where this is going?

You could have the #1 or #2 team in the country NOT make the ACCCG and have a chance at a bye in the first round. Worse, given how the country hates us, the committee would no doubt put us as the 8 seed...
In the scenario you layout above, Miami might not make the CFPO at all.

If that happens, all three go, and easily at that.

I see::

BYU
Notre Dame
One of the Academies
Oregon
Indiana
Ohio State
Penn State
Top two SEC (Champ and runner up)

Every other SEC/Big 10/Big12 team would have at least 2 losses and wouldn't appear in their CG.

Undefeated Miami wins that battle. So does an SMU team with one close BYU loss and a loss to Clemson in the ACCCG. Clemson goes at the Champ.
Two loss SMU is never getting in lol

Miami has to go undefeated and win the ACC CG to make the playoffs. A 1-loss Miami is not going to make the playoffs based on our terrible schedule and too many close games. The Big 10 and SEC bias will keep us out if we have 1 loss

As of now Miami would be in the ACC CG in the event of a 3 way tie, and I don’t think it’s likely to dip lower than 2.

Would we still win the Coastal?

What kind of scheduling is this that 3 teams, UM, Clemson and SMU don’t play each other? Is this the new norm in non-division conferences? This is why I thought conferences should have kept divisions. In the “old” days, 2 or the 3 would have necessarily played in the regular season. This is just dumb scheduling IMO.

If Clemson continues to Dominate and SMU wins out as well as Miami I can see 3 Teams getting in. SMU around 11/12 Seed, Miami 3 seed and Clemson 9/10 Seed

Clemson would have two losses to possibly top 10 teams, Miami would be undefeated, SMU would finish 11-1 with a loss to the possible big12 champion.

I find it difficult to exclude a 11-1 SMU team with wins Vs TCU by 24, @louisville, Vs Pitt with only a loss to the Big12 Champ (possibly)

While Clemson would have wins @VT, @Pitt, Vs South Carolina with their only losses to UGA/Miami

Big question is how much the SEC/Big10 will cannibalize themselves

Pointless to even talk about right now. Too many games remaining. We've played 3 ACC games and won them by 12 points total. No guarantee we win out anyway.

Everyone also overlooking unbeaten Pitt who plays both Clemson and SMU. Yeah too early to be thinking about this.

Committee is not going to penalize a team for losing in their champ game, over one that didn't even make their game.
That exact same scenario has happened to SEC teams many times. Yes, there are more spots now, but that doesn’t mean they won’t apply that reasoning to an ACC team in order to get more SEC / Big10 teams in.

Some of yall delusional af thinking acc gets 3 in...lmaooo
Clearly no idea how **** works...
Cfp will put 8 sec/big, 1acc, 1 b12, 1 g5...that leaves one extra spot.

Did you mean to say best case scenario?

We don't have to play a useless conference championship game.

We get the 5 seed, which is the easiest seed. You face the fcs school and then the big 12 champ.

And you get to host a playoff game.

Sign me up for this.
Not Necessarily. If SMU wins the ACC and BYU wins the Big 12 SMU would more than likely be the 4 seed

It would be the most Miami and ACC thing ever for SMU with Miami castoffs to win the ACC first year in
