ACC Tourney game #2

Lol, went searching to see how the NC State fans were reacting, and found this hypocrite.

"For those who don't know, we lost in the top of the ninth inning when Miami hit a one-out three run homer to reverse the game and take an 8-7 lead, and then record two consecutive outs in the bottom of the ninth when we had the winning run on first base and the tying run on second. The homer was straight forward, but the Miami hitter carried the bat aloft about a third of the way to first base and then tossed it wildly in the air. Our pitcher stood near homeplate and voiced his displeasure with this disrespect, and it was a low rent thing to do. Utterly classless."

So how classless was it when their batter flipped his bat to put em up 7-5?

It's shocking how fans from any school are so blind to things like this. Their guy was so bad that the home plate umpire was screaming at him to start running the bases.

Just classy enough for those Fudgepack idiots from Raleigh. I went to our football game against them in 2008 in Raleigh, and their fans ******* sucked.

So, ***** those guys. :troll-slap::troll-umad:

People act like Garcia walked the bases loaded. And like Aroldis Chapman is sitting in the pen, but Morris won't use him.
That's not the point. Yes, he's the best closer we have, but you look at guys who are "great" closers, they don't fvck around nearly as much as Garcia does on as regular of a basis as he does.

So he's not pretty enough for you? Cry about it.

The fact is he is Miami's ALL-TIME SAVES LEADER, and has actually blown very few saves. There's a difference between saying he makes you nervous and saying he's not great.

Garcia clearly is a great closer

As I said long ago during the game, what NCST did never happened when it comes to playing UM. If they beat us in the bottom of the 9th, it becomes an overcoming a taunting and ****y Miami squad narrative and ESPN headliner.

How exactly does he fvck around? You don't think He is trying to retire the other team in order?

Our game was never getting the an ESPN headliner with the NBA and NHL playoff games going on.

Maybe you don't understand the phrase as it relates to baseball. Instead of actually retiring the other team in order, Garcia tends to get himself in jams. That's what we call "******* around".

Bingo. I don't recall the likes of Lee Smith, Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman, Dennis Eckersley (aka - "great closers") ever getting in as many jams as often as Garcia does. When those dudes came into the game, 99.9% of the time (exaggerating), it was over for the other guys.

He's the best closer we have on the roster, and he's a good closer. But he's not a "great closer".

I would even say he's close to a "great" collegiate closer, but he still gets into too many jams.

And to ask if I think if he's trying out there is ******* dumb. Of course he is. I think he wastes too many pitches and trusts his fastball in the zone too much. That's what gets him into trouble.

Again - great closers close the door and make the opponent **** themselves. When Garcia gets on the mound, the other team isn't freaking out like teams did against the likes of Smith/Rivera/Hoffman/Eckersley. Those guys are great.

I might be able to agree with he's a "great" collegiate closer, but he still makes things far too interesting than he should. Pretty has nothing to do with it. I love it when players can be dirtbags and make something out of nothing with hustle and effort, no matter how ugly. Pitching, especially being the closer, is a whole 'nother deal though. Your closer should come in and stop **** in its tracks...not allow rallies to start for the opponent on a regular basis. Garcia battles out of more than his fair share, but you keep playing with fire...you get burnt.

Garcia's WHIP is nearly 1.500. For people like CTCANE who don't really get baseball, that means he allows almost 1.5 baserunners EVERY INNING. Compare that to a truly elite closer like Zack Burdi who has a WHIP around 0.750.

Garcia is too much like the Gutierrez disaster. Yeah, good stuff, lots of saves, etc., but he is always on the verge of blowing it. And just in case you don't remember, Carlos Gutierrez finally blew one at the worst possible time.

Fact.

I have no problem with rah rah fans and "just look at the results!" type responses, but there is reality in there as well.

Garcia had great stuff. He is by far our best option at closer. He has the most saves in conference. All facts.

To identify the simple FACT that he isn't a dominant shut down closer that rarely puts guys on the bag is REALITY.

We all want the end result, but it is pretty clear that many batters sit on his fast ball and if his location is barely off...there will be hits. Doesn't mean he isn't a good closer and the best we have...it just means that we sweat more than we would like and we should really hope that we are up at least 3.

Garcia isn't one of the 4 best Major League Baseball closers of ALL TIME and doesn't strike Mariano Rivera like fear into his opponents, so he messes around and can't be trusted. Sounds legit.

To review his messing around against NC State's 2-6 hitters:

- 8 pitch at bat
- 2 foul balls
- Single on off speed pitch/slider

Deatherage - .323

Knizner - .292

Clearly ******* with us. Glad we won. The gall of NC State to bring bats to the plate in the bottom of the 9th of a 1 run game. ******* ACC disrespect. Would never have happened at a neutral site location in Florida.

Was he the closer in 2008 when we fell apart?
