ACC tie breaker

If there is one thing you can bank on with the 12 team playoff it is that a one loss Notre Dame is absolutely getting in.
Man it's going to be hard if there are a bunch of 2 loss SEC teams hanging around the top 12. There are bad losses, then there is losing to a team that is currently 9th in the MAC.

Best case scenario -

Louisville beats Clemson
Pitt beats SMU
Clemson beats Pitt

They all have one loss and they can fight over second place 😂

Edit:
If VT beats Clemson instead and they win out it’s a 4 way tie for 2nd
My eyes tell me VT is the second best team in the ACC. They look really good. If not for a stupid penalty against Vandy, they win that game.

VT is the squad least want to play. I think SMU is our most favorable matchup with Clemson/Pitt being somewhere in the middle of degree of difficulty.

FWIW, last week the look-ahead line was Clemson -1.5 -115 vs Miami in the ACCCG.

We would be favored against any other team.

History says The chances of Miami, Clemson and SMU all winning out are extremely low. Typically somewhere between 5 and 7 power 4 teams TOTAL will finish 11-1 or 12-0. In the last 20 years or so, Only one time (2015) did the ACC even have two of those teams in one year.

Someone is almost certainly going to lose a remaining regular season game.

Clemson most talented but Drones to me is better, more dangerous than Klubnik so that's why I would prefer to play Clemson. Plus, the optics of beating Clemson looks best for us.
Clemson has the bodies on D (pause) to make that game more difficult imo.

Why do you think Drones is more dangerous?

Ball State just beat NIU, who beat ND. That SHOULD put a stake through the heart of ND's playoff chances, while actually helping ours.

I hate it when it comes down to BS like opponent win percentage, because it doesn't tell the whole story.

As for Florida, they have actually become a decent team. I'm going to laugh my rear end off if they beat Georgia, after we took UF to the woodshed. I'd love to see the spin on that one.
Yea they should have easily won against UTjr as well

Yes but if Duke had not pulled a Manny, then SMU would no longer be undefeated in conference. How the F do you lose with 6 turnovers? SMU was trying to give them that game and Duke would not take it.
Two former Canes won the game. Harvey jumped over the line and blocked the game winning field goal. Brashard shot out of a cannon and scored the winning run in OT. Pretty crazy how they built a good team with ex Miami players. Smith x2, Harvey, Hunte, Rooster, Roberts. A few other players I can’t think of names.

It really makes little difference who we play in the ACC Championship game, as we are guaranteed a playoff bye. But yes, beating a one-loss Clemson may get us a slightly higher seed. I am getting way ahead of myself here.

no it's conference opponents win% within conference, so even less in our control

according to gramilch / macclain - luckily for us as of last week's games - our conference opponents win % within conference was better than Clemson's and SMU's

Louisville, VT, Cal all won so we should still be the best in that scenario

need those 3 to win as much as possible just like Syracuse, GT, duke, and Wake
Or we need Pittsburgh to beat one of them, maybe both
