ACC future and UM Admin

We can control our future a few ways:
-better OOC schedule
-Better recruiting (Mario is NOT recruiting at all elite level right now)
-winning our games (Mario it's NOT coaching at an elite level right now)

If we do that going forward it wouldn't matter to us how the ACC is viewed.
Well next year we play the gators and ND. So that's one down.

The entire "realignment / conference expansion" momentum ran into a wall when the court stopped the launch of VENU Sports Steaming at the end of August. Without added broadcast windows for major games there aren't enough programming slots currently existing without totally taking the ACC and B12 out of slots. Networks have to get their programming models re-structured so added expansion is possible on an economically positive basis. Right now the rumors are that the ACC + Clemson + FSU are involved in negotiations that MIGHT result in everybody staying put in the ACC until 2030 ... when the next media contracts are up for renewal for the P2 ... then things might happen.
Appreciate the explanation..... I didn't know a bunch of that stuff... but it makes sense

I disagree. I believe we are attractive to the B1G. SEC, not so much. B1G would get another decent size media market, big city, a footprint in the state of Florida for recruiting. Miami brings ratings when they are good plus has a few traditional rivalries already with the B1G that would make for some good TV.

I dunno... I just don't see it ... I mean trust me I want to be wrong and end up in either... My thinking has always been that if it came down to the two we would end up in the Big10 due to AAU status....But again I'm just spitballing... I have no clue....

The ACC thinks it got short end of the stick with Miami out. Wait until next week when Clemson is the only ACC playoff team.

look, I hate the sec/bama bias as much as anyone, but I had to just tell myself, it's all on us... all we had to do was win 1 game between GT or Cuse... not a tall ask... our D literally blew it both games and most the season... fix the problems.

Nah man, when the championship was decided by only a handful of teams at the end of the year, voted on after bowl results...Miami had an understandably small margin for error.

We were voted #1 in our first NC after having 1 loss.
We played for another in 1985 with 1 loss
Our 3rd NC we won with 1 loss.
I could go on, but then point is...with so little teams, we still had plenty of opportunity for a Title with 1 loss. You telling me, we're increasing the field to 7!!! At large teams, and the margin for error is still 1 game? But it's ok for Bama to lose 3 games because they're in the SEC? Nevermind the fact that 1 of those losses is at home, by 20 points, against a team that was in the Big 12 last year. Media bias and conference affiliation shouldn't be so strong, that some **** like that is even possible. Georgia is playing in the SEC Championship and had a dog fight with the 5th place ACC team. The "Bama ranked wins" are artificial when those teams are ranked by the same people. Duke is 9-3 and nowhere in the rankings, Syracuse is at the bottom...but 3 SEC teams are right there with 2 loss Miami? Because they all beat each other? Laughable bias.

Good news, our President is huge sports fan. He understands the power of sports. Not as good news we need new rev streams and not owning our own stadium really hurts that.

This season is a wake up call. We don't have organizational alignment. We absolutely need to leave the ACC and go to the BIG 10. That should be the directive from the office of the President at UM to the AD to be executed with approval from the BoT.

The ACC doesn't have the respect it deserves and wont get it either from the media, other coaches, and recruits. To put it in context, the SEC and B10 each have 4 teams in the CFP, which forces everyone else to fight for scraps. The top 10 recruiting classes were all from the SEC and B10. 34/34 of the 5* recruits went to the SEC or B10.

Net net - we need the respect, pedigree, and money that the B10 could provide.

I'm not so optimistic. There is no control of the future as long as the SEC (ESPN) and B1G (Fox) are in essence running things and allowing mere bread crumbs to any other conference. The ACC and Big XII are de facto G5 conferences now. They will each get their champion only in the playoff. Wins and losses by teams in the ACC & Big XII officially do not count the same as wins and losses by the SEC/B1G. The at-large bids are going to SEC/B1G schools only with ND getting one because they have only one loss and, frankly, they're ND.

Better OOC schedule? Miami had an SEC team on its schedule. Routed them on the road. The same pundits saying how well Florida is playing right now are the same saying that Miami's win over Florida doesn't count as much because it was early, even though Florida was at full strength in that game.

Better recruiting? Top 10 recruiting class 2 years ago and top 5 last year. Now that the SEC and B1G have been swinging their ****s over the past year, good luck with any ACC or Big XII team cracking the top 10 in recruiting for the foreseeable future.

Winning? Only winning the conference will matter.

ACC = weak schedule. OOC is consistently trash. Only 1 team of potential consequence per year. Bad formula. Need to beef this up. If we keep struggling against babies then our 10 win records will still be debated against nine and eight win SEC teams.

Recruiting this year is rated on par with Mario's transition class. Not elite! Very few players from other top classes are competent contributors. Clearly not getting the right guys. Not an elite recruiter.
Winning? Only winning the conference will matter.
Yeah, doesn't look like we're going to be doing that anytime this decade. 7 more years on Mario's contract?

How involved was the big sports fan in hiring JD Arteaga or Mario as the only option for HC?

This is a must, 34/34 5 stars, what 8 playoff teams...

3 loss teams in ahead of us thanks to the spin job their conference gets.

Put it this way Penn state are basically us and if they lost a second they would be all g.

If we were a serious program, Guidry should have been fired on Sunday morning.
Sure, pure genius, fire the DC right before signing day. That would have been the worst possible decision possible and had it happened, you would be on here criticizing the decision today.

Texas is 0-1 against the top 25 with the loss being a blowout at home and is ranked number 2. Best win is an 8-4 TAMU team.

Big 10 is as much to blame as the SEC. Indiana being in is quite the joke. But no one is mentioning them

Not getting my hopes up on us leaving this conference anytime soon. No reason to think otherwise. But I do agree, any school that isn’t in B1G/$EC is absolute dead meat ultimately. Unless you are media darling ND.
Actually, ND is in a similar situation. If they lose more than 1 game, they're likely not getting into the playoff.
