ACC future and UM Admin

I hope this year's playoff picture and the now firmly entrenched media/coaching narrative that the ACC is a sub-P2 conference is resonating with Rad and the Powers-That-Be at the University.

Playing Captain Obvious here, but staying in any conference that isn't the B10 or SEC will be disastrous for UM sports at every level. Having to go undefeated or finish 11-1 just to fight for a single playoff spot is unsustainable.

I know there's a zillion-page mega thread on conference realignment, but I feel like the single biggest hurdle we will face going forward isn't 3rd down conversion % or even wins-losses, it's choosing to continue to play the game with one arm tied behind our backs, and that won't go away with a new DC, NIL collective, or head coach.

Here's hoping the folks that move and shake have been paying attention.

I have repeatedly said, if Miami doesn't get into one of the big2 conferences in the next decade, the program as we know it will be over. Our days as championship contenders or top 10 program will be gone. The money difference will increase with each passing year. We will no longer be able to compete financially and recruiting will take a major hit.
We are now trying to claw back to some kind of relevance but at some point the opposing headwinds will be too much and there will be no chance and we will be left behind.

I agree , we need to go to the Big10 or SEC.... I just don't really believe either conference wants us...

I disagree. I believe we are attractive to the B1G. SEC, not so much. B1G would get another decent size media market, big city, a footprint in the state of Florida for recruiting. Miami brings ratings when they are good plus has a few traditional rivalries already with the B1G that would make for some good TV.

Meanwhile, SMU, the new kid on the block, is playing for the ACC title and possible playoffs (with a loss) in their first year. I might be wrong, but didn’t they sign up to the ACC without any revenue sharing consideration for now? (Someone set me right, please)

look, I hate the sec/bama bias as much as anyone, but I had to just tell myself, it's all on us... all we had to do was win 1 game between GT or Cuse... not a tall ask... our D literally blew it both games and most the season... fix the problems.
If we were a serious program, Guidry should have been fired on Sunday morning.

We can control our future a few ways:
-better OOC schedule
-Better recruiting (Mario is NOT recruiting at all elite level right now)
-winning our games (Mario it's NOT coaching at an elite level right now)

If we do that going forward it wouldn't matter to us how the ACC is viewed.
And if my aunt had a **** she'd be my uncle

UM had superior talent in every game this season… wasn’t enough.

Need a better coaching staff who can compensate for Cristofail’s struggles with game day coaching/strategy.

And playing a strong OOC is no sure thing… see this year when they thought they were scheduling a top 25 team on the road with UF.

Ole Miss just said Miami is ahead of Ole Miss because the committee wants to make the ACC look relevant. Kiffin said Clemson got blasted by Georgia but didn’t mention the Georgia-GT game. Kiffin tagged the ACC and ended with #RememberTakeAKnee.

I think we should be all for the mega conference separating from the rest of CFB. Let's compete for championships against similar sized and resourced schools and let the past be the past.

If/when the SEC and Big10 do what is seeming inevitable, they will dig their own graves and alienate the rest (aka vast majority) of college football fans to their own ruin. If no one will watch that separate, semi-pro league it will go bankrupt. Then the rest of the remaining FBS could say "thanks but no thanks: you dug your grave to our expense, now roll in **** for all eternity." It's going to be like Liv Golf all over again but worse since it's ruining the only remaining sport with traditions and regional continuity.

We have nobody to blame but ourselves. End of story. How we going to bash the ACC and haven't won the conference a single time?

This here...

Fixating on external forces cultivates helplessness, and doesn't emphasize your own ability to ameliorate and ultimately change your circumstances. Mario needs to take a critical look and why we played so poorly at times this season and fix it at a systemic level. We played inconsistently all year and simply need to have a higher level of competition, coaching and discipline.

yup.

"politicking their way out of losses."

Hit dogs holler.

It’s all political and about $$$$$. No one cares about the 10 win season or number one offense especially when it comes to Miami. We hurt ourselves 21-0 and couldn’t get it done.
There is a MUCH BIGGER picture here. That one game is small compared to the ramifications of staying in the ACC.

We literally boat raced the team that knocked Ole **** out. Kiffin can suck a fat one at this point. How he managed to beat UGA and still find a way to miss the playoffs is absurd.

I love Liv Golf😁

In college football’s current state running to another conference is not going to solve anything. Not like the SEC/B1G would be willing to take more programs and share the money with even more programs. The entire college football world will look different in a few years anyway.
As in about 80 college football teams splitting off into their own division or shuttering their programs.

We were supposed to play ND but we dropped them for Ball St.

Also during the Golden era there was a stated shift in scheduling strategy that hasn't changed. It was because they thought the schedule was too hard. Something along the lines of only one game where we may not be favored and three where we certainly would be favored.

If the Power 2 continues to grow, at some point it will be diluted and a new narrative will be driven by the media.
