I hope this year's playoff picture and the now firmly entrenched media/coaching narrative that the ACC is a sub-P2 conference is resonating with Rad and the Powers-That-Be at the University.

Playing Captain Obvious here, but staying in any conference that isn't the B10 or SEC will be disastrous for UM sports at every level. Having to go undefeated or finish 11-1 just to fight for a single playoff spot is unsustainable.

I know there's a zillion-page mega thread on conference realignment, but I feel like the single biggest hurdle we will face going forward isn't 3rd down conversion % or even wins-losses, it's choosing to continue to play the game with one arm tied behind our backs, and that won't go away with a new DC, NIL collective, or head coach.

Here's hoping the folks that move and shake have been paying attention.

In college football’s current state running to another conference is not going to solve anything. Not like the SEC/B1G would be willing to take more programs and share the money with even more programs. The entire college football world will look different in a few years anyway.

they "hope" the situation will be reviewed.... LMAO

And they can **** in one hand and "hope" in the other and see which one fills up first. Both dudes suck. I'm actually surprised Rad woke up and tweeted something.

We can control our future a few ways:
-better OOC schedule
-Better recruiting (Mario is NOT recruiting at all elite level right now)
-winning our games (Mario it's NOT coaching at an elite level right now)

If we do that going forward it wouldn't matter to us how the ACC is viewed.

Yeah because we've had so much success in the ACC where the program was allowed to transition to playing down to the competition and never came back up for air.

Look at our **** fan base, most are younger and don't remember when the Canes were known for the type guys we recruited who refused to be intimidated: "We'll play anybody anywhere!" And then went out and backed it up. Now it's "Let's hope their starting QB doesn't come back for this game." Or, "We still have a path if...Or "Fill in the blank Tears "- when our program cried as much as theirs. Decades of that junk because of the on field product.

Most of the Canes and Coaching since, enjoyed the swagger those Championship days and the Orange Bowl left them, but couldn't walk the walk. All the ACC did for us was make us mediocre, and we didn't do much for them except supply some motivation for their teams to beat a once great program that was far easier than they thought.

We should have begged to get into the SEC years ago, where programs have to focus and recruit OL/DL to set a foundation to survive, rather than as a second thought.

I don’t have a problem being the big fish in a small pond.

The big issue is the disparity with the conference money payout. If we can get close to matching the Big 10 and SEC then I’m good with that as long as we dominate. Meaning our worst years we have two losses tops.

I think having all those teams in the SEC that believe they can win a championship isn’t going to work out in the long term.

I agree , we need to go to the Big10 or SEC.... I just don't really believe either conference wants us...
The entire "realignment / conference expansion" momentum ran into a wall when the court stopped the launch of VENU Sports Steaming at the end of August. Without added broadcast windows for major games there aren't enough programming slots currently existing without totally taking the ACC and B12 out of slots. Networks have to get their programming models re-structured so added expansion is possible on an economically positive basis. Right now the rumors are that the ACC + Clemson + FSU are involved in negotiations that MIGHT result in everybody staying put in the ACC until 2030 ... when the next media contracts are up for renewal for the P2 ... then things might happen.

look, I hate the sec/bama bias as much as anyone, but I had to just tell myself, it's all on us... all we had to do was win 1 game between GT or Cuse... not a tall ask... our D literally blew it both games and most the season... fix the problems.
Nah.

While I agree that we controlled our destiny, that doesn't excuse us getting left out of the playoffs. Needing to go undefeated or only lose 1 game in a 12 team playoff is just broken
