All due respect, with opt outs bowl game outcomes are meaningless in the grand scheme of the college football landscape.
The biggest storyline for the ACC was a slew of starting quarterbacks opting out, which they won't highlight as it doesn't fit the ESECPN narrative:
Miami — Ward bails mid-half, no Horton, no Restrepo, etc, and loses by a point.
SMU — ACC runner-up gets 11 seed and loses to #6 Penn State on road; Nittany Lions in quarterfinals.
Clemson — ACC Champ gets 12 seed and loses to #5 Texas; Longhorns in quarterfinals.
Boston College — Thomas Castellanos opts out; Eagles lose to Nebraska.
Cal — Fernando Mendoza opts out; Bears lose to UNLV.
Duke — Malik Murphy opts out; Blue Devils spanked by loaded Ole Miss team.
Georgia Tech — Eric Singleton out; Vandy had a slew of opt outs—better team won; Commodores.
Louisville — Eked out one-point win over Washington.
North Carolina — Top RB opts out (Omarion Hampton); quarterback mess, Beichick coming in; lose to UConn.
North Carolina State — Both had a lot of opt outs; Wolfpack just choked.
Pittsburgh — Falls to Toledo in 6OT when Narduzzi wimps out in regulation with shot to win.
Syracuse — Kyle McCord and everybody opts in; beats Washington State
Virginia Tech — Kyrone Drones (and others) opt out; lose to Minnesota.
