A team that starts 7-0...

2012
Duke Johnson rushed for 176 in a win against dook

2013
Pitt RB rushed for 173 in a win against dook

They didnt have Duke, but they had a Dukesque performance.
Oh, you're talking about THE James Conner.

Dallas ran for 115 that day. He led our team in TD's for the year. We weren't 60 additional yards away from winning that day.

The additional receiving and return yards Duke provides don't count either?

Sure, so do Dallas' 48.

Because that's how football works right? We just add 60 yds and then dismiss them? This isn't fantasy football. The game plan changes and you don't have to rely on Morris. Seriously, the defense blows but if you don't think Duke would have changed that game you're just being dishonest.

BTW, T. Savage went 23/33 424yds 6 TDs 0 ints vs Duke last year. How would they have played without him? I'm sure that type of game out of your QB has nothing to do with the run output.

I like your pregame write ups.

You convinced me!

The additional rushing yards + the additional return yards are side stepped by YOU. But Duke having 4 catches in his shortened season is proof that he doesnt matter enough to have impacted that game.

I never said Duke wouldn't have changed that game. OF COURSE HE WOULD HAVE. I am saying that we shouldn't need to rely on his health to beat the Blue Devils in football. Dallas Crawford didn't put up pedestrian numbers that day. Neither did Morris. There was more than enough offense produced that day to win that game.

Duke had 100 more total yards than Dallas.

Somebody else said it, this isn't fantasy football. It's real life football, and football is a abstract game. Players impact the game in ways stats will never be able pick up. If duke is there maybe that safety walks up and opens something else up, maybe he makes a great block in pass protection, or his energy rubbing off on somebody else, even for just 1 play. Stats are just tools for people who want a quick glimpse into the game, not a in depth breakdown imo.

Trying to make an argument that Duke's absence didn't effect the possible outcome of the Duke Blue Devils game is just plain stupid. If he's there, do we definitely win? No. Our odds go up a ton if he's playing. Morris threw the ball 49 times…would never like our odds in that scenario.

That said, our rushing defense was an all time fail that game. Was actually watching the Jimmy Gaines game film from that game and I'll tell you what, Renfroe played like a 175 lb defensive tackle. No lean, no leverage. DE's were getting their outside arms pinned. Brutal to watch.

Giving up 40+ points to Dook and VT is inexcusable and cannot be blamed on injuries to Duke or Dorsett.

the VT game was an anomaly... we had 4 or 5 turnovers or whatever it was.. we went from being in control of that game, to getting that *** whooped from one minute to the next.

It was very similar to the 1994 Washington game as far as monumental momentum swings due to Cane blunders.
