A quick update after talking to some people

And almost never fun for 20 years outside of one Notre dame game in 2017
The first 10 games of that year were fun. I'm lucky they happened or I'd have a hard time convincing all 3 of my sons (15, 14, and 11) to be Miami hurricane fans.

Say what you want about that turnover chain but it made some amazing memories for me and my boys during that 2017 season. My kids made their own turnover chain and made a safe/vault for it as well. Every time a game would start my middle boy (8 years old at the time) would go run upstairs to his room to grab it and every time there was a turnover they'd have this huge celebration.

Mario was a fluke situation away(Deion getting P5 job, and his right hand man had a connection Cormani's Mom) from signing the #4 overall recruiting class in his first full season.

At Oregon he was set to sign their best class in school history, but he chose to leave and come to this 20 year disaster of a program where the administration has neglected it for so long, and treated it financially as a mid tier ACC program.

As a fan I'm tired of same old same old. I'm tired of not being an elite team. I'm tired of losing to rivals. I'm tired of big time players leaving Sourh Florida.

The thing is Mario is proven as a Head Coach.

He took over the worst program in America at FIU, and in his 4th year tied for conference title, took them to their first bowl game, and won it. Next season he went 8-4 in regular season and went to another bowl game. He got fired because of the beef with him and Pete Garcia after a down season.

Saban thought highly of him to hire him as AHC, OL coach, and recruiting coordinator at Alabama where he won a NC.

Goes to Oregon where they had fallen way off. Talent devoid. He takes over and builds them back up to conference champion and a NY6 Champion. He leaves Oregon in much better shape than when he got there.

He has proven enough to let him work. Give him 3-4 years.

He signed the best Miami class in 247 sports hisptry(modern college football).

Has he shown some stubbornness? Yes. Is he perfect? No is he the best Head Coach Miami has had since Butch? Yes

This is a "what have you done for me lately" business and all he's proven HERE at Miami is that he can't win, just like every other coach of the last 2 decades.

Their coach face planted in the NFL for two and a half seasons...
What’s does that have to do with college ? Spurrier , Saban and Butch da gawd failed in the league. Rhule has taken over two horrible situations in college and drastically turned them around. He still has a plan to sell kids , at least until the season starts.

Overall agree with you, but is he REALLY the best head coach Miami has had since Butch? Not until he proves it AT MIAMI

not many on here can objectively analyze a situation. When it comes to our own it’s excuse and rationalization about every short coming. When it comes to others, they will completely ignore any context and any scenario that if assigned to one of our own they would defend to their death. We shouldn’t have lost Barney to Rhule but he 100% has the benefit of the doubt right now because he hasn’t coached a game at NEB and his CFB track record is excellent.

Totally reasonable response

Well if you think Randy Shannon, Larry Coker, Al Golden, Manny Diaz, or Mark Richt is better than ok. Richt would be one argument, but he was on a retirement tour, and had early onset Dementia.

At least the administration has committed financially to put Miami in top 2-3 of the ACC. It hasn't been like that. Georgia Tech paid their head coach more than Miami for years. Nc State too.

Now Miami is paying more than they ever had for HC, assistant coaches, support staff (nutrition, S&C, sports science), and facilities.

Miami was the last program in the ACC to have an indoor practice facility! They didn't even have a turf practice field in 2012. They didn't have lights on Greentree until around then. They paid their Head Coaches around 7th best HC salaries in ACC. Assistant pools weren't great even though cost of living was much higher.'

I'm just glad Mario has gotten here, and opened everyone's eyes as to what it needs to look like in big time college football. Now let's see the wins follow.

It’s amazing that we’re in year two of a complete rebuild, already with a second iteration of the staff, and we’re already on the clock to win big. How did we put ourselves here? How did perceptions get here so quick?

Mario is already showing signs of desperation—doing things out of character. I’ve seen this story before. It doesn’t end well. We better ******* win or this might be the death of the program.
20 years since Taint*

Perhaps we are dead and just cashing our ACC checks in perpetuity.
