and if Mario was speaking to the kid himself recently. Makes no sense. I know it's been said Smith has alot of influence but does he have the authority to do stuff like this? Doesn't sound like the way Mario would do it.

thats it, I’m done. Cancelled canesconnection. Can’t support ineptitude or a poorly run operation no matter how much I love the school/team.

Sounds like there's a poor structure and a bunch of undisciplined people doing their own thing, no clear functional reporting order and defined expectations for each role.

One again...for a guy like Mario, who seems to micromanage certain things, that's just not acceptable. Put your **** foot down, set accountability, put good/strong leaders in place to run the day-to-day for you (not DTrain) and stick your foot up the *** of anyone who doesn't get in line. You can't have a bunch of cowboys doing their own thing in a successful organization.

I try not to put private stuff in the public or bash folks but this is the first issue to really get public since we have a reliable poster here close to the station. But it’s far from the only one like this , it happens a lot more than it should. People have no idea how much importance the recruiting dept has. It’s a lot more than a hype man putting tweets out. I’ll leave it at that.

I think Mario, while he never had it as a gameday football coach, he now also lost it as a CEO/recruiter.

How you do anything it’s how you do everything.

Is it a factor of the staff changeover?

we haven't heard anything like this throughout his tenure expect right now - as people are being let go

not excusing it, but there is context there and not like Mario isn't running an efficient recruiting process

Seeing the recruit's side of it, I'd say there is a lot of activity going on from the position coaches (especially on defense), but also a lot of not knowing what others are doing in-house. Lots of check-ins, etc. But not exactly closing the deal or showing real commitment either.

A lot of noncommittal "how how u doin?" stuff.

I'm sure this stuff scales up to bigger fish, too.

Tell Mario he sounds exhausted and to call Coach L for the script.
 
I'm not all that upset they are no longer recruiting French. When i saw those stats, i was like ****...i have to see this kid. I saw as much bad on tape as i did good...not a lot different than what many on here have been screaming about the last several years at LB. Some splash plays yes, but a lot of velcro on blocks, inability to sift through traffic, and some questionable effort. Could he help? Sure...the LB group has a lot of questions. But if you're brining in a senior, i'd prefer him to be a different type of player than what we've had that hasn't worked, OR being a great leader to help the culture and young kids develop, like a Matt Lee, KJ Osborn, etc. The suspensions are serious flags for me.

Oh I totally get it. Just trying to understand if MC is aware and fixing the situation. Without recruiting, his time here goes downhill pretty fast and at least I like to believe he understands that.

Or is this Mario’s MO?

I like Lathan more and wasn’t fond of this take but I don’t like how they do business
