A moment of honesty

Even when we were winning, we never got the recruits UF and FSU got. We beat them because we had better coaches. Miami is in a great location for talent, but it's also surrounded by $EC schools who pay kids, buy them cars, and find their families' homes away from the hood. No one else, particularly private colleges, is allowed to do this.

I'm undecided which is more ghey. Posts like this or posts by eunuchs that have never met a kid and have zero connections to a kid but rush to be the first to wish him the best of luck and proclaim that "he made the right decision for him" as he bolts South Florida for another program. I'm thinking they might be the same type of person posting these things so I might have to deem it a tie.
A facqit is a facqit. Does it matter if they swallow or spit? At the relevant moment, they both have weeners wedged in their eso****eal region.

Can't say eso****eal? How about eso***eal?

This guy lol
The same thing happened to Michigan last year when Harbaugh took over its too late to get certain players, next season we have a guaranteed top 10 class at worst.

For all intensive purposes, lets hope you are right. Im thinking we can get to a ACCCG this year, depending on how things play out....but we need to start winning to get the right talent in here

intents and purposes

thank you..

It's not about who you could get. It's about who acually signs. New schemes, play-calling, and schedule set up for 10 wins next season. []_[]'ll be okay

Guys, we aren't "The U" as we all know and love. The high level guys, and even the really good gems don't see Miami in that way right now. The only remedy for our recruiting woes is to go out and win games and show that it can be done here. Lets face it, bad coaching hires have gotten us to this point. Im hoping Richt can get this thing turned around.....we better hope we can get the top guys in 2017 and 2018 with winning big games.

that is so stupid. sure miami isn't miami of 2001. no one is saying that. to say kids don't want to come here or wont unless we win nc next year is bs. the truth is a new coach changes everything. miami goes out wins 9-10 which they can do easily next year with players they have and kids will flock to richt.

**** richt could end up with top 10 class this year. richards is coming, byrd is sticking williams is sticking. finley i think comes to miami pierre comes back to miami, truth is kids in south florida grow up canes fans. period. richt will have top 5 classes year in year out starting next year even if he wins 8 games.

richt is much better coach. winning means nothing to kids. haurbaugh is landing a top 10 class in s econd year, he almost made top 10 his fist year. baylor had never had a great program. briles came in got alot of 4 star recruits in texas away from texas the it school and is winnign big now. clemson went from an 8 win team that coined the term clemsoning to being a nc contender under there coach.

a great coach can recruit the kids he wants to his school. it doesn't take winning 10 games to get kids to commit. golden actually added some top notch talent to miami, he just didn't develop it. he also took to many projects. that said miami has talent and always will. it doesn't matter if i coached, i could get a top 20 class yr in yr out here. truth is miami is a place kids want to go period. winning or not winning.

When Butch took Damione Lewis out of Texas in '97 and DJ Williams out of California in 2000, we were a blip on the college football radar. No excuses.

Yeah because Butch only had 2 months to work on those guys to come to Miami......

thats just not true. miami was loaded with talent under butch. same with jj, and erickson they got top kids. they dominated recruting in south florida, kids here never left. jj, howard, erickson, butch kept the best kids in south florida here. they also went and cherry picked kids like kelly, kosar, testaverde, dorsey, sapp, from other states. miami had some top notch recruiting under all the top coaches.

yes we had great coaches but jj at ok state barely was above a 500 coach, erickson at wash state was a 500 coach, it wasn't just coaching that won for miami they recruited top talent in south florida and kept the best kids home.

"Our class is solid, period." "Solid" compared to what? Compared to FSU? To Clemson? To Florida? To who? Not sure how it will end up, but it now looks to be too little in quantity to help needed depth in key positions, and average in quality in most personnel. Of course the proof will be on the playing field, and that's where coaching and talent comes to fruition. But, right now, in a moment of honesty, I would not rate what we have, and hope to get, as "solid" when compared to our competition and what we need to be a top ten or twenty ranked team. Period.

I am guessing that you weren't following UM recruiting when jj and Erickson were the coaches. Am I right?

I was born while Dennis Errickson was the head coach at miami

but I can tell you that it's crazy talk to say miami "never got the recruits UF and FSU got"

Miami has had consistently top talent over the last twenty years.

Here, for instance, are Dennis Erickson's first two recruiting classes:

In 1989, Dennis guided the Canes to an 11-1 record and a national championship. Here is his 1990 recruiting class from a month after that season:

1990 Class (15)

Breakdown: Florida – 7, Out of State – 8

RB Donnell Bennett (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida)
TE Dietrich Clausell (Gulfport, Mississippi)
QB Frank Costa (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
LB Corwin Francis (LaPorte, Texas)
WR Jonathan Harris (Houston, Texas)
ATH David Holliman (Homestead, Florida)
DL Dwayne Johnson (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)
WR Chris T. Jones (West Palm Beach, Florida)
RB Larry Jones (Gainesville, Florida)
OL Anthony Lewis (Brockton, Massachusetts)
OL Zev Lumelski (Miami Beach, Florida)
DB Malcolm Pearson (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida)
DB C.J. Richardson (Dallas, Texas)
DL Baraka Short (Opa Locka, Florida)
WR A.C. Tellison (Bay City, Texas)

In 1990, the Canes went 10-2. Here is Dennis's class from a month after that

1991 Class (19)

Breakdown: Florida – 11, Out of State – 8

WR Omar Andres (Miami, Florida)
DL Kevin Brinkworth (Buffalo, New York)
QB Ryan Collins (Pembroke Pines, Florida)
LB Travis Cooper (Miami, Florida)
QB Alan Hall (Middleburg, Floirda)
DL Corries Hardy (Melbourne, Florida)
FB Derrick Harris (Willowbridge, Texas)
ATH Shawn Jones (Marrero, Louisiana)
LB Rohan Marley (Miami, Florida)
DL Jessie Mitchell (Key West, Florida)
OL Jason Owens (Newton, Pennslyvania)
DL Willie Phillips (Arcadia, Florida)
K Dana Prewitt (Birmingham, Alabama)
DL Patrick Riley (Marrero, Louisiana)
RB James Stewart (Vero Beach, Florida)
OL Alan Symonette (Miami, Florida)
DB Shaywon Tresvant (Miami, Florida)
TE Syii Tucker (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)
OL Robert Woods (Pine Bluff, Arkansas)

I'll stop here because I don't like humungously long posts, but these two groups are quite representative of his other classes.

We put the 2nd most guys in the NFL last year. We have not fallen as far as people think.

Maybe in the '80's when we were really rolling we might have beaten out UF and FSU for kids because we were the best program in the country then. However, by the time Butch got here after probation, we never got better classes than UF or FSU. Butch was just great at finding kids he could coach up. I hope Richt gets this thing turned around next year so these kids don't pull stunts like this POS clown did tonight. He didn't have enough time to do much this time around.

I'd stay away from Naples High in the future. They've got something going there against UM. I think we've only gotten two recruits from there in YEARS and one of those was kicked off the team before he ever played a down. Bunch of $EC homers at that school.

If winning is the key, then it's gonna be bad. Richt didn't get fired for winning too much at UGA

I recall many years in that time period when our classes were just inside the top 20. Never really mattered with good coaching. Ps. This thread is lame and makes us look like pussies.

recruit ranks in 80s early 90s weren't nearly as well done as now. miami always had top notch talent just look at guys from those erickson, jj, howard teams that went to pros.

the list is pretty long. guys like jerome brown, cortez kennedy, jj had guys going to nfl all the time. it wasn't just coaching. todays rankings are much more in depth then they were then. we have sites dedicated year round to recruiting. no offense but in late 80s even early 90s it wasn't like that.

a guy like ray lewis today never gets a 2 or 3 star, he would of been a 5 star today. the recruit rankings then were no where near as good as they are today. today u have rivals, scout, 247, espn, there are more but those are big ones rating recruits. i was watching football surfing net u never heard about recruiting then like today.

This guy lol

Not even remotely the same situation so quit parroting the same stupid ******* argument.

When Butch took Damione Lewis out of Texas in '97 and DJ Williams out of California in 2000, we were a blip on the college football radar. No excuses.

When we were winning championships and lost on top rated recruit Lamont Green or Marvin Jones and others what was the reason there? GTFOH with this nonsense, this has been the dumbest crap people go on and on with. FACT, even in our glory times we did not clean up in recruiting, we lost out on top rated studs in our own backyard, it happens. Win and do your **** job locally and you get a lot of players, but you will still lose out on some studs regardless.
