A moment of honesty

I think the reason you guys are tearing your hair out is that you have unrealistic expectations

15 years removed from our championship run, we will be landing a class ranked somewhere between 20 and 30...which is the same as we were ranked last year

That's right where Miami ought to be.

We're not gonna be the school that lands multiple 5 star kids each cycle...just isn't gonna happen. Look at it like this...say you have a kid and he has two choices, choice A is a school with a winning coach, experienced and great teachers at position coach, world class training facilities and a top notch strength staff. Choice B is a school closer to home with a great head coach but a suspect coordinator and a high school coach as your position coach, a first time strength coach, and mediocre training facilities

As a parent, I know objectively what I would advise my kid

So Miami won't get the top tier but they can still get talented kids. So much depth in South Florida...if we can pick the right 3 star kids from our back yard with a chip and that hunger...we can at least start to win bowl games again....and that's the first step

Troll job in full effect.
Don't know what fan base you grew out off but be a man and just represent yourself as who you really are.
You show up after the Byrd decision his less than ten post and nothing but concending back handed comments.
Not a good troll job at all.

You want to tell me what part of my comment wasn't factual? What part do you specifically disagree with?

Sorry if my opinion doesn't fit the rah rah narrative that's all the rage right now. I'm actually thrilled as a canes fan to compete for the coastal and win bowl games...because I think that's a realistic expectation for a program like Miami in this era

I will always support my alma mater and I won't hold them to some ridiculous standard

Not much of it was factual.
Actually the only factual thing in there was the number of years since our last championship. (By the way how many years since Tennessee's last championship???)
The rest was just more of your condecending opinions on what UM can and can't do.
You have the smell of an sec troll or you are related to Willi Martinez.

So how many years since TN won there only championship?

This guy lol
The same thing happened to Michigan last year when Harbaugh took over its too late to get certain players, next season we have a guaranteed top 10 class at worst.

For all intensive purposes, lets hope you are right. Im thinking we can get to a ACCCG this year, depending on how things play out....but we need to start winning to get the right talent in here

Intensive Purposes huh??? ****** A

Where did I say anything about tennessee's championships? Couldn't care less about Tennessee. But they do invest more in their football program which is why they can sell that to recruits.

As for what Miami can/can't do...that all depends on the BOT and how much support they are willing to give to the football program

Right now Miami hires, builds, recruits, and acts like a decent ACC team that might compete for coastals and break the top 25 from time to time.

Sorry for the harsh dose of reality bro.

I'm not trying to anger anyone, I'm just being honest about what i personally think. You don't have to agree.

All the pieces are being put into place. It was Shalala that tried to kill FB at UM. Now that she is gone watch how much we improve all around the FB program... Going into NSD I got to say your buzzkill isn't going to work... Got Finley and some other big targets are yet to commit. We already have a solid class and are looking to add some more talent to it!!

Larry Coker, Randy Shannon, and Al Golden were all able to land top 10 nationally ranked classes. Miami is still a sell, especially to local kids, if for no other reason that their parents or family members they grew up with were and probably still are all Canes at heart. Miami is really the only place that can claim elite success without a lot of the superficial things you mentioned or even the luxury of a consistent figure as the head coach. Really the only things you are correct about are the unrealistic expectations and the depth of talent in South Florida, but you couldn't be more wrong in your explanations. Mark Richt carries more weight as a head coach than all three of the coaches mentioned above combined. If he fails it won't be because he couldn't pull elite talent, history factually tells me that. This class is much more of a salvaging job than it is a recruiting job simply from a time standpoint in building appropriate relationships. It's unrealistic to expect elite results based off of this alone. Along with that, there hasn't been a realistic timeline to properly evaluate the players already there and whether or not they can be developed and bring substance. So talking about needs and depth can only accurately go as far as what we know based off of previous coaching staffs, systems, development, and team identity. Most people are going nuts about Byrd more so because of the perceived lack of depth at corner (perceived by how they performed under an incompetent staff, not how this new staff will handle the personnel) than they are Byrd specifically. It's why Golden and Co. were show the door in the first place.

Next year, I fully expect a top 5-10 nationally ranked class. I expect the dead weight to be dropped from the program. I expect a complete overhaul in the development process of our players and the identity with which they play. None of these things are unrealistic to expect and again, Richt's resume for bringing in talent along with this program's history of success both on the field and in recruiting tell me it's not unrealistic. If they aren't happening then all bets are off and it's time to seriously start evaluating what the problems are. This man isn't getting paid $4 million a year to be average.

And by the way, I see a few prospects that are extremely elite in this class for a short notice salvage job.

So they invest more...but we have had more succes....even with three bad head coaches.
Seems like we have something to sell recruits as well.
