A few random Things I'd expect to see against FSU

I think we need to see some trickeration on special teams just like the Sam Shields return vs Wisconsin .... And no one pull a Corey Nelms.

My kingdom for more:

-RB screens to Duke and Crawford
-Vertical seam routes to Walford
-Short crossing routes as an extension of the running game.

I'm holding out hope we've purposely ignored these routes...saving them for this game.

Add a wheel route for Duke or Dallas.
Safety valve pass for Hagens

The general theme of your 'offense' take is that coach Coley will break tendencies for this game. Im hopeful but not optimistic.

This. And if any of you think Morris will come out playing well, might I suggest investing in Ukranian junk bonds?

I expect a lot of coverage sacks as this will be the best secondary Winston's faced and will not be use to his wideouts simply running past corners

Not to mention if I'm McCord or AQM I'm licking my chops at making a name nationally by tattooing famous **** early and often

IMO this game should give us a true perspective on our coaching staff.
Do we come out vanilla?
Do we come out focused?
Do we adjust before halftime?
Do we, for a change, become the team that "did some things we weren't expecting"?

It's going to take change to beat them.

I agree offensively, and frankly I've been hoping that Coley has been holding back considerably because of the FSU game. If not, there are some concerns as to his play calling or our players abilities to handle it.

As for the defense, I actually think we blitz a bit more, maybe play a little more man and do less of what we have shown to be our normal D. Not in an overwhelming fashion, but enough to throw a serious wrinkle in it.

Guess we'll see. Should be interesting.

I'd like to see the bunched receiver sets and expanded route trees.

Realistically, it won't happen. None of it will happen. Coaches on undefeated teams don't concede that what they have been doing needs to be changed. That requires a jolt.

yeah i used to hope that our coaches "saved" their "secret strategies" until the big game, but 90% of the time, they weren't. we were just that ******.

if we really saved crossing routes and power for FSU, sticking with our outside/inside zone and hitch/go combinations just to surprise FSU/VT, it means coley and golden really thought we could beat GT and wake and UNC without them, and gambled, from the beginning of the season, on winning 11-12 games. coaches don't typically do that. they really do take it a couple games at a time, because you lose one or two you didnt expect to lose and your season (and career) start going downhill fast.

it just seems too much like wishful thinking IMO. but here's hoping.

Offense

- Wildcat with Dallas Crawford
- Halfback pass by either RB or WR pass with Crawford in the slot
- More counters to play off what we've been showing with Walford in motion over the last couple weeks
- Morris pull the ball down and try to pick up 8-10 instead of fading backward and to the side
- Waiting for Coach Coley to unveil some route trees that include crossing routes from each side
- Coach Coley to show trips and flood so that Morris can focus on half the field

Defense

- Less games/stunts that we've shown all season
- A few more S/CB blitzes
- Would prefer to matchup than to see Greene find holes in our zone
- Not too much new stuff because we're not going to get too fancy

What do you guys expect?

In other words, the whole play book.

I think we've been very conscious in showing very little these first 7 games.
Seems like in most of our games we've only run 10 different plays, including our last 3.
I'm thinking against FSU Coley is going to open it up with plays FSU hasn't seen from us on film.
I also think fsu's weakness is their over pursuit and their mediocre run defense.
Don't tell me that FSU is highly ranked against the run. We were #1 against the pass after the GT game.

I'd expect a heavy dose of Duke. If Duke has 25 carries in the game we win.

Play smart football and take what the defense gives you. IMO FSU's game plan will be focused on stopping Duke so Morris is going to HAVE to play smart and take the short/intermediate routes. If he is successful and Duke is capable of getting to 100 yards we have a chance.

On defense I would definitely try to hit Jameis hard even risking a yellow flag. Would love 52 to unleash some anger on Winston. Our current pass rush just won't do so we are going to have to come at Jameis all game long. I can live with the results if we do that and lose.

If we win the epic meltdown on FSU's team/coaches/boards will be priceless.

Please, please, please, please, please, please. I can think of nothing more painful than watching them sit down repeatedly and letting Winston clinch the Heisman. Let's man up, pressure Winston somehow, someway (I want a healthy heaping dose of McCord) and let the chips fall where they may.

I would do the opposite of what everyone expects. FSU is going to pull out all stops to stop our running game. I know many think that is their weak link but they will be amped up to stop it. Alot of playaction rollouts and give simple throws to Morris early. Gain some confidence. I dont really like bubble screens but in this game I believe that they will be effective to stop the flow inside to stop the run. Then run the fake bubble screen with the wheel route. Misdirection similar to what Wake ran against us. Play to their aggression. PA to Duke with a throw back TE screen to Walford. This play is effective with an athletic TE. Screens to Duke, flares to Duke. Get him the ball in space. In the redzone, split Walford wide to use his height for fade routes. Run out of 4 wide sets. Throw in a QB draw from the gun. If we try to line up and run the ball straight at them I think we are in trouble. Their game plan is going to be make Morris win the game. Finally, clip a taser to Morris nuts and every time he throws off his back foot zap him until he stops doing it. He has gotten lucky the last few weeks with this. His numbers could be worse. He wont get away with that ish against FSU

I'd love it, but I think it's fair to say that Morris hasn't shown the ability to consistently hit this pass.

Hey, man, it's FSU week. I'm here to hope.

Great moments are born from great opportunity.
And that's what you have here tonight, boys.

That's what you've earned here, tonight.

One game.

If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.

But not this game. Not tonight.

I hope we see Duke to the left, Duke to the right, and Duke up the middle. And when he gets tired, give it to Dallas. Coley better tell Mo to get the ball out of his hands but quick. And Goudis making all his field goal attempts would help.

Coley shouldn't give Mo much to think about this game man. No time to think.

We have it in our play book...Sandland was running one in the second quarter on the bomb to Coley that got ripped out of his hands.
