A Few Guys Arguing Non-Stop [F/K/A "Let’s check on Lane Kiffen"]

Got you. I'll keep this handy hopefully we could keep Duke and Pitt under 40 next year.
Think About It GIF by Identity

Don’t gotta keep Duke under 40 when they aren’t on the 2023 schedule

It's amazing that blind faith is given to Lane to recruit at a Top 10l level at Miami, since he hasn't recruited at a Top 10 level, since Facebook gotten started. But hey, defensive lineman will be flocking to South Beach.

I think there is still time. For example, he didn’t land Dart until January. I’m hoping there will be some bigger fish to enter the portal so Mario can fill some holes.

Calendar changed this year. There's now a cutoff date. I'm not saying more guys won't enter in May, but this period is almost over.

Also, "Dart in January" was back when we all thought that HS/JuCo and Portal transfers were both supposed to be signed under IC limits, and after Ole Miss signed a disappointing number of HS/JuCo kids in December 2021. There are NO similar excuses this year.

Unless you want to cape for crossover's "it's not over yet" argument.

28th best offense. Lmfao

Stay wrong.

They had the 28th offense because they had the best defense in the country.

That offense was STILL piloted by a walk-on QB.

This is why you post dumb things, you refuse to use context. The RECRUITING results for Georgia's defense last year compared to Georgia's offense last year were completely different.

And that doesn't stop you from FIELDING and COACHING a good offense. Once again, you have ignored the fact that this is a RECRUITING thread on a RECRUITING board.

What the results will show.

Dude factored in this years class and it aint done. Lmfao.

"It ain't done".

Hilarious.

Portal Period 1 is just about done. HS/JuCo signing classes are just about done.

But, yeah, Lane is going to sign 10 or 15 great Portal transfers in May.

Keep hope alive...

Do you with your mind think that he couldnt sign more than 12 hs kids?. Keep in mind thats for ESD...we still have the regular NSD in February

1.) He beat Mario in the portal JUST last year..beat him out for a wr kid that we essentially needed.

The funny thing is....you said all that....but we likely have more PORTAL needs than they do and your expecting quality for us i bet. lol.

I dont even know why your going off of PORTAL RANKINGS...I dont even look at that you go for needs and fits. i dont care what our portal ranking is....just the guys we get ..our they starter level or play their role.

If you feel you know his roster composition better than he himself does well ill be ****. lol

Look, man, do I think "with my mind" that he couldn't sign more than 12 high school kids? I DON'T CARE. He didn't, and that's all that matters.

And I don't know what kind of "regular NSD in February" crack you are smoking, but you need to seek help for that addiction.

Look at the Top 1000 recruits. There just aren't that many that don't have a green check. And for those without a green check mark, they aren't listing Ole Miss as a finalist.

So for HS/JuCo, here's the summary:

1. Lane will not get QUANTITY out of the "regular NSD in February". It's just mathematically impossible. If you see 6 HS/JuCo guys in the Top 1000 who are going to sign with Ole Miss in one month (which would take Ole Miss back up to last year's disappointing HS/JuCo signing class of 18), feel free to identify those 6 candidates.

2. Lane will not get QUALITY out of the "regular NSD in February". It's just mathematically impossible. Certain dopey porsters have been touting the "average class rating" of Lane's 12 signees. Fine. But based on who is left on the board (and not your vague protestations that "it ain't over yet"), there is no way in **** that Lane will sign enough QUALITY guys to maintain that "average class rating". He could sign a bunch of 2-star and 3-star guys outside the Top 1000, but that will definitely lower his "average class rating".

So pick your poison. Either Lane has low QUANTITY, or he dilutes his QUALITY with lower-ranked guys to fill his roster.

Soooooo...on to the Portal portion of today's game show.

Quite frankly, I don't give a **** about Portal rankings. Other porsters were busy talking about it, and filling our heads with the myth that Lane Train has a "Portal Strategery" that is going to render HS/JuCo recruiting obsolete. So I played along for a while, because Lane did, in fact, have the #2 ranked Portal class last year, based predominantly on QUANTITY. Lane had the second-largest Portal class in the P5 (17 signees), second only to the #1 class at USC (20 signees). But I am FINE with not focusing this discussion on the Portal, as I largely agree with you on scouting guys for best fit, not "rankings".

I don't know why it is so hard for you Lane-Trainers to admit the obvious, Lane has not been having a good four years on the HS/JuCo recruiting side.

The fact that the FAU ranking was added lets you know what he was tryin to do with skewing it toward his favor.

We are obviously talking about POWER 5 recruiting since no Group of 5 likely ever hits the top 25 in recruiting.

Politely, you can go to he!! with that comment.

That dipsh!te asked for ALL of Lane's recruiting classes as a head coach, and I gave it to him.

You can't just pick and choose, and what you REFUSE to acknowledge is that Lane's OLE MISS POWER FIVE SEC RECRUITING numbers have been closer to FAU G5 territory than USC/Tennessee recruiting territory. There's no "but his recruiting classes at Tennessee and USC 10-15 years ago should make us look at his current 4-year performance with rose-colored glasses".

And THAT is the problem. Lane has signed a bottom-three SEC class for 3 of his 4 years. And, yes, the SEC is a better conference than C-USA or AAC or any other G5 conference. So maybe the floor in the SEC is higher than the ceiling in G5 conferences.

But the results speak for themselves. Since his bump class, Lane has been on the decline for two consecutive years. Will it change next year? I don't know, but he already flirted with Auburn this year, so why should I wait around to see what happens with his fifth recruiting class at Ole Miss?

Yeah, even I wouldn’t include FAU recruiting. Lol. Chit, if we included FIU recruiting, Mario’s avg. class would be in the 50’s! Lol, & we know he’s a beast recruiter. Maybe if Kiffin or Cristobal was recruiting at UC, SMU, SDSU or some traditional solid G5 program we could include that ranking, but definitely not G5 programs that’s bordering FCS level.

I included the FAU recruiting at crossover's request.

And, in fairness, the Ole Miss recruiting is veering closer to FAU territory than Tennessee/USC territory. It's getting worse every year since bump year.

Its a UM board .....i aint gonna say,...." But...Sonny Dykes". This whole thread is a comparison of Kiffin and Cristobal if you dont get that ..stay on the baseball board...i aint coming in there to debate you. lol

Nope.

This thread was DERAILED INTO "a comparison of Kiffin and Cristobal" by one porster (mostly).

Go back and read the first page or two, before crossover derailed everything. Because, you know, he "doesn't start threads about Lane", so he's obviously not a big defender of Lane. But 50 pages of his derailment later, here we are.

I mean these guys recruited top 10 level classes here.

You pretty much have to just be competent at your job and could luck into top 10 classes being based in south florida.

Diaz never had a top 10 class

And in fairness to Coker’s tenure, I mean he could “claim” he was the HC of a Nat’l Championship & most 1st round draft picks in a 3 yr span. A Chimp could’ve been a coach at Miami during this time & would’ve racked in multiple top 5 classes.
