A Few Guys Arguing Non-Stop [F/K/A "Let’s check on Lane Kiffen"]

At the end of the day we'd be better in the short term with Kiffin, but better in the long term with Cristobal.

There's no way the Columbus Crew would be backing the programme to the same degree with Kiffin in charge and there's no way we'd be sitting #4 overall in the recruiting rankings. Conversely there's no way we'd have gone 2 games without scoring a TD with Kiffin in charge too.

It is what it is.

In the last 20 years...Ole Miss has won 5 or below games 10 times.

5 games at Miami gets you fired if it happens more than once...we have different standards and trajectory as a program.
So a ****** first season isn't necessarily an indicator. Neither is his record from over 10 years ago at a school that never has success.

so we should just pick and choose what time period we want to make our argument? Instead of judging the entire body of work?

What skills as a coach does mario have that makes him a big time head coach?

1. Recruiting
2......
3......
4.....
5.....

Why do Fiu fans and Oregon fans both say he is a overrated head coach and fantastic recruiter.

Whats funny is we as a fanbase can tell any team the negatives on manny, golden, shannon but we refuse to listen to fans who have witnessed mario for years. Very arrogant of us.

I've never said he was a great X's and O's coach. Lane is arguably better there. I'm saying his FIU record is not indicative of his ability. That should be clear. Likewise, Lane isn't a great recruiter.

Yall have argued he is better than lane. It simply isnt true.

the only way that argument can be made is if you leave out their time at fiu and fau. Gogeta has already shown they are on basically a equal playing field.

Mario is a safer pick because he doesn't have lanes history but as a coach it really isnt close.

The great thing about mario is you know he will stack talent. Lane will win more games.

Nope, I've been saying that FIU isn't a proper indicator. That's why I picked the last 10 years right off the bat. You insist that his 27-47 record at FIU 10 years ago completely negates his more recent 35-13 record at Oregon and that's completely disingenuous.

Umm they are almost identical.

Fau won 3 games per year for 3 seasons prior to lane getting there.

Thats 9 wins. Then in the next 3 seasons they won 27 games.

Mario as a better recruiter only got fiu to 8 wins in a season.

Yea mario is better lmao. Its a known fact mario is not a good football coach. Hes a great recruiter and talent evaluator.

Yall just feel like arguing against facts.

Because im realistic about mario it bothers you. Everyone hopes hes successful here. It all depends on his hires and after year one he hasnt been good at that.

FIU won 15 games in its first 5 years. That's an average of 3 games per year for 5 seasons. Which is a longer and deeper span of suckage time. Not to mention that FIU went 0-12 in the year prior to Mario's hiring AND 10 of the 15 victories over the 5-year span were vacated, leaving them with exactly FIVE official Year-1 Division I-AA victories over a 5 year period, and no official victories from Year-2 to Year-5.

Again, no matter how much you want to whine about how bad Lane had it when he got to FAU, if was far, far worse at FIU when Mario arrived. That's a fact that any unbiased person would never argue.

But you're so biased and irrational that you can't pull Lane's **** out of your mouth long enough to just admit facts and reality. But, hey, you're an OK guy, you never started a thread defending Lane...

& FIU in 2022 is still having the same issues, post Mario. That’s my point. At least FAU have tried; FIU is and will always be a trash program, which is y to date, this is our worst loss on record.

The reason FIU had issues pre-Mario and post-Mario was that Pete Garcia was a bad Athletic Director. End story.

Gogeta went to fau and has already proved you wrong.

You sound like Golden and the cloud when talking about mario. Hmmmm. Similarities i see.

He hasn't proven me wrong.

In fact, he's been pretty silent since he equated FAU and FIU. If you were to ask him directly right now, I'm fairly certain he wouldn't try to tell anyone that 2007 FIU was equal to 2017 FAU.

ill let him take that if he so chooses.

You act as if fau was winning 8 a year. They won 3 a year for 3 seasons before lane arrived. Him winning 11 twice at fau is way more impressive than winning 8 at fiu and then ****ting the bed the year he was fired.

Ive literally praised mario for his recruiting and talent evaluation. You have yet to show 1 metric that makes him a good FOOTBALL COACH.

We just witnessed his coaching first hand last season.

I've never acted as if FAU was winning 8 per year. That's just a straw man that you invented.

What I have said is that FAU had been playing football for 16 years, 13 of those in Division !-A. What I have said is that FAU was not stripped of 10 of its 15 wins over the preceding 5 years. What I have said is that FAU built a football stadium that holds 30K before Lane was ever hired. What I have said is that GOOD football coaches like Schnellenberger and Pelini and Partridge coached there, even if they didn't win a ton of games. What I have said is that even 3-win Partridge handed off some decent talent to Lane that he could build on (#94 class right after being hired, #79 bump class, and a #89 final class, plus, Partridge left Lane at least a dozen verbals for the 2017 class, most of whom decommitted after Lane was hired).

But...as per usual...you use exactly ONE statistic. "Wins". You ignore the fact that what Schnellenberger built, and what was in place when Lane took over, was far superior to what was handed to Mario.

As for not showing one metric that makes Mario a good football coach, you're wrong. You've been given several.

---2x conference coach of the year
---1x national recruiter of the year (and 1x second place finisher)
---1x Joe Moore award
---3x conference champ
---3x bowl game winner (including a Rose Bowl)
---.729 winning record at his first P5 head coaching job

But I know what you are going to do. You are going to continue to give Lane ALL THE CREDIT for his teams' offenses, even though he was not the OC of those teams, while guys like Briles and Weis and Lebby were the OCs for Lane's best years as a head coach...and then you are going to BLAME Mario for his teams' offenses, even though he was not the OC of those teams and even though both of his Oregon OCs went on to get head coaching jobs.

Yep, Lane gets all the "coaching credit" for what his OCs do, while Mario gets destroyed in the one year that he hired an OC who was a poor fit.

Carry on with "not starting any threads about Lane"...

why are Oregon fans happy hes gone?

Why do they call him a overrated coach?

Why do fiu fans call him a overrated coach?

Wanna make a bet on who wins more games next year?

If I cared enough to give you an accurate response, I would call you a host of names that reflect what a whiny ***** you are acting like, and what an arrogant pr!ck you are when you act as if you know what an entire fanbase thinks. But I'm not going to do that. Yes, YOU spoke to ALLLLLL of the Oregon fans and ALLLLLLLL of the FIU fans. And NONE of those fans have any sour grapes or distorted perceptions. Riiiiiight...

Oregon fans? Yeah, when the rumors first surfaced, they were a feisty bunch. I never heard FROM MINUTE ONE about how they would be happy for Mario to leave, and how overrated he was. Nope. Instead, what I saw on all the Oregon boards was a bunch of garbage about how Phil Knight would match any offer, and that Mario's wife was happy in Eugene, and how South Florida was a miserable cesspool. The actions of a fanbase that is happy for an overrated coach to leave? Nope.

So, yeah, things might be working out well for Oregon, and I'm happy for them. But sour grapes are sour grapes. There was NO outcry for Overrated Mario to leave DURING the 2021 season or any time prior.

As for FIU fans, I get it. Mario had a bad final year. They probably formed their opinions a decade ago, and are unwilling to revise their opinions now that Pete Garcia has been barred from the FIU campus. But, hey, if those "FIU fans" that you surveyed (and I'm suuuuure the number is higher than 3, right?) were being honest, they would admit that the only two coaches who have done anything worthwhile at FIU have been Mario and Butch. And both were effectively fired after poor final seasons, though Pete Garcia sabotaged the HELLLLLL out of both of them long before their final years on the field.

So, yeah, I don't give a rat's a$$ about your "man-on-the-street" interviews with Oregon and FIU fans. Their "feels" are to be expected. I get it.

And, yes, Oregon fans can fvck all the way off for trying to rewrite history to act as if they had ANY sort of problem with Mario before he took the Miami job, other than "he left Oregon".

Alot of words to say nothing. Well done.

I read the fiu and oregon boards. The vast majority consider him overrated and a great recruiter.

So our fanbase knows everything about golden, shannon, manny. BUT fiu and Oregon fans dont know what they saw with their own eyes lol.

Cant get more arrogant than that.

Temple fans warned us about golden and we didn't listen. Just like youre doing now. They were right about everything. Same way oregon and fiu fans are right.

Last season proved them to be right.

Call me whatever names you want. Youre a dude on the internet. You wouldn't say it to me so it will never bother me.

Nooooo...

The Miami fans who complained about Golden and Shannon and Manny did so all along, for their entire coaching tenures.

The Oregon and FIU fans did not do the same with Mario, and are only doing so now because he's not there.

It's really not that complicated.

Show up at Titanic in February and I'll prove to you that I'll say everything to you in person that I say on the boards.

Lmao.
internet-tough-guy-tough.gif

Umm they called his offense vanilla and boring from day one. They called his gameday coaching suspect from day one.

The titanic. Lol im not a 14 year old girl.

Fun though it is to smack you around, you have amply established your horrible postings and your inability to grasp what everyone else can.

Go run off now, though I'm sure you'll feel compelled to post one more time in an unsuccessful effort to prove your manliness by getting the last word in.
