HARDBODY
We also know we can’t rely on the portal to find a DTI agree with this and love the pickup as Lightfoot is undeniably elite. The Edge DE group we are putting together is indeed CFP caliber. However we must begin to build a strong DT group or the Edge players will not be as effective as they could be. I'm absolutely overjoyed by the Lightfoot commit but it also highlights our lack of P5 level depth at DT. This must be addressed through high school recruiting as the portal is not going to be some magical cure especially at this position. This must begin to be addressed this cycle.
No we can't and I said as much in my post. Obviously the glaring need at DT is front and center for the staff and the lack of commitments thus far is certainly not for a lack of effort. We also know we can’t rely on the portal to find a DT
Especially at his heightIf his shuttle really is 4.25 that’s super quick.
Thanks as always D$It has always been important for teams to rank recruiting targets. But it's even more important in the NIL era. This year, we have a tier of elite, first-round type grades. There are about six or seven kids on that list. The whales. Lightfoot was one of them.
I asked why Lightfoot was so high on the board. They gave me several reasons:
- He measures out officially at 6'4, 220 with a big frame in person and an 81-inch wingspan. He may be 6'5 now.
- He has outstanding quicks (4.25 shuttle) and closing speed.
- He has explosive strength and striking ability.
- He is unusually aggressive with a high motor. He plays special teams and loves football.
This is a big-time pickup and adds to what is becoming a CFP-caliber EDGE group. In the past three years, we've added Nyjalik Kelly, Reuben Bain, Cyrus Moss, Jayden Wayne and Collins Achempong. There are more on the way.
Said in an interview he switched to football after playing basketball because basketball was too soft. Thanks as always D$
I love how aggressive he is with a high motor. Exactly what the doctor ordered. Go Canes
as Ron Meyer said while recruiting at SMU, ''we didn't want guys who could play on Saturdays, we wanted guy who would play on Sundays."
SMU also had a pretty good NIL program of their back in the day
You absolutely NAILED this one.
This a great post GJon Square played here.. there is always a place for guys that can rush the passer role.
I'd say Moss is a rs freshman and probably about 220-225. He's a legit 6'5-6'6 though. So hes about the same size give or take of Lightfoot now.
If he can take on that role like John Square did he has a chance cause the tools are there. JohN Square i believe was 3rd on the team in sacks in 2001.
Ppl forget Moss was a safety i believe just 2 years ago. He needs weight and im hoping he can add some b4 the szn.
I played tackle in college. Finished playing d2 level...but my suite mate was a DE..who ended up getting drafted to the nfl. Prototype Edge guy probably 6'5-'6'6 245-250 regularly. In one on ones i would give him fits lol. But after going scrimmages or team for awhile an facing him...when they would sub in like the 3rd team de a guy built like Cy Moss ..probably 6'3 215 would give me allll the smoke n the most problems....sh* t was a parody.
He put me on the summer jam screen way more than the prototypical guys it was crazy. There is a place for guys like this with a motor and speed off the edge...in the 3rd n 4th quarter tackles dont want to face that after getting beat up by the other guys
We brokeback? We byke? We broke? Which is it? Seriously.
in between lol.We byke? We broke? Which is it? Seriously.
