Both my parents were alumni. My mom graduated in 1950 and my dad in '54 after getting out of the Army. They had season tickets for 50 years starting in '54. I grew up in Gables and going to Canes and Dolphin games in the Orange Bowl. I went to almost every home game from the middle 70s through '85 when I went away to school. I still try to go to several games a year and made 3 games last year.
I am a lifer.

Born in Stone Mountain, GA. My intro to college football was 1988 game (might have kicked the season off) against #1 FSU. Miami crushed them 31-0. Watched game with a family down the street who were big FSU fans. I was ~10y old.

The way Miami dominated during that game and rubbed it in their face, I never looked back.

Graduated from UGA. Orange and green all the way.

That family had a screen printing operation and made tshirts which they sold at booths before and after college games. I'd work at those booths and went to plenty of UGA/UF games, Gator bowls, etc...over the years.

From the moment I stepped on campus, 1972. My Dream of playing CFB ended when I was asked to transfer out(thrown out) of Slippery Rock State College and my parents told me to come home. So, I transferred to Miami. Close to home and worked at Jackson ER. All good, it worked out. My son and I have season tix, and we are grooming another generation of Canes with his boy and another on the way. #CANESNATIONLIFERS🙌🏽

Been a Canes diehard fan for 59 years, since way back in 1966. Back when we played in the “true” Orange Bowl. Back when we played many home hames on Friday night. Had the Mad Stork in one of my classes. I guess I’d be correct in saying that I’ve been a Canes fan longer than 99% of the posters on this board have been alive…..

I left Miami after graduation for Atlanta in 1974, spent 26 yrs there until I returned. All my kids were born in Northside, my oldest daughter is a UGA grad married into a Big Dawg family. Can’t win them all. Don’t think I’ve ever met UGA grad that was/is a Cane😹

Going on 51 years now. 👴

Two older brothers: one a Gator for life the other a Nole for life. So my choice was simple as that.

Saw the Canes beat the Univ. of Tampa Spartans and the great Freddy Solomon in 1974 at the old Tampa Stadium and was hooked for good
Grew up in Miami and as a kid the U on the helmet was the coolest thing. Was in the endzone stands when Danny Miller hit the upright and in to beat the chicken gators in 81. The rest is history. Other notable games attended in the OB include 58-7 wipeout of ND and The Flutie Hail Mary.

One thing I've learned to appreciate as a "t-shirt fan" is that Cane Nation seems to welcome everyone to the party.

I never could've attended Miami as a student — didn't have anything close to the academic credentials nor did my family have the financial wherewithal.

But the Miami alums I've met over the years — admittedly not a whole lot in this part of the state — always have been cool. Maybe it's the smaller nature of the university? I don't know.

I doubt that camaraderie exists at most schools. It definitely doesn't at UF and FSU, where there a lot of grads I know who definitely look down on the non-alumni Gator and Nole fans.

****, my own brothers are that way to a certain extent though they won't admit it

The year was 2000. Family (being from MA) was all BC fans and were all still at our house from Thanksgiving a couple days before. Had the game on TV and I loved the Miami colors and mascot. Then, I witnessed an absolute shellacking of my local team, and as a kid said F this THAT'S my team, much to families dismay. Been riding with Miami ever since. It's the only non-local sports team I cheer for. Everything else is Boston based.
