#7 National & #2 ACC - Rankings

Overall will end up top 10 class very good on offense side of ball. Defense did not hold up their end of recruiting and even with this good of a class we lost ground to all the playoff teams from this year. Can not expect to beat the Ga, Ohio St, Clemson , Bama, and now Texas until we can recruit on their level.

Honest question, and then I'm going to recruit to the basketball board, because I stand 93% of the posters on here:

If the entire class had signed today, Lo, Jordan, Mallory, Blades, etc. And, we still missed on the AH guys, would people still be whining and complaining? I understand not getting the AH guys, but do people realize we still signed four, 4-star DBs?

Honestly not as much except for maybe the DT position. No matter how you look at it, it a shame we didn't land more DT/DL

How in tf did FSU rise all the way to #11 when they had a coaching change w no staff in place??!! WatchTheFinish my ****!

Thats the scary part. They were at a HUGE disadvantage with the early signing period and still climb to the 11th just 4 potentially 3 spots below us.

So, 4, 4-star DBs don't play defense? Nesta, the USA Today Florida Defensive Player of the Year, doesn't play defense?

The DB recruiting was a B-/C+ based on the incredible DB talent in FL this cycle. The DL recruiting was a C-. If not for Nesta it would have been an F.

There's no arguing that today was disappointing. No one in their right mind would say "today's close was great" given what bullchit we were being fed over the past couple of months. Early signing day alleviates some of the pain because ya, this class is still very good. Offensively, it's **** near the best in the country.

BUT, defensively its not up to standards. Is it good? Sure. Is it great? Nope. You know what would have made it great? A blue-chip lockdown corner who can start right away, or another pass rusher (in the trenches) to help take the load off Willis, Nesta etc.

I understand we're not going to get everyone, but you can't miss on all the guys we did today. And that's why something like this should never occur in the near future, or else changes will be made.

So five defensive players worth mentioning when just on the DL there were seven players lost in the offseason...

What was the DB grade overall, not based on that. Just overall, in your opinion. Considering we got the guys we got, do you still think it's a C+/B-? Four, 4-stars, and it's a C+/B-? Look, I'm not thrilled with the misses, not thrilled at all, but to say we failed (as some are) when we pulled in those 4 + Nesta (and others) on defense, does not = failure. Which, is why I asked, if we had signed everyone today, would people still be reacting this way. Or, is it because December was 12 years ago.

We signed other defensive players. I mentioned the highest rated, but go on.....

I don't think you can look at it in a vacuum. It so happens that this was one of the most loaded DB classes in south florida in recent memory. You have to assume that being the preeminent university and only P5 program in the tri-county area that we are going to get some of those guys. So, yes we brought in good talent at DB. We missed (as usual) on the best talent. That's why it's a C+/B-. The goal should be to gain ground on Clemson. We aren't playing for titles until we catch them, and we lost ground this year.

They got 2 recruits from Armwood in Tampa who were going to follow Taggert to Oregon. They got Briggs who waited till the coaching staff shook out to commit. They got Chattman a 3 star from Georgia who was a drama queen and had everybody on this board swooning. They got 2 3 stars Felton and Grant who aren't power 5 quality and a 4 star safety that Ohio state didn't want anymore who according to some is over rated. They needed offensive lineman and got 1 who might pan out. They struck out on a qb , Foster who they needed. There class is goldenesque. And fwiw, Armwood kids are always over rated and flop out.....

Only reason why we are 7th likely to finish 8 because 247 has vastly underrated our class compared to the composite. They shafted a lot of our guys and it shows In the rankings look...
5FE296F5-541F-49D5-9378-D236E267A3F0.webp

They were much lower on our class than the industry, is what it is

To sum things up:

We land the best class in over 10 years at the U without having won ANYTHING since early 2000's
Have many top players NATIONWIDE at some spots (TE, RB) and a great if not excellent haul at DB, S (TC and PS be damned).
We missed on TWO freaking players (yes five stars) but landed incredible talent and the board reads as if we landed a bunch of 2 and 3 stars
NOBODY thought PS was coming until last week and TC sadly went to Georgia- that aside we got everyone we REALLY wanted.

LOVE this class and hate how outright childish the reaction is from some.
