25-26 Transfers

How can a player who "needs work" on those areas of his game be POY in a tough league like the Big East? Something is wrong with that picture.

As for Bobby Hurley, how does he keep his job at ASU? He hasn't really succeeded at all and has been there for 10+ seasons now.

Gonna have to ask the voters that question. That's not just my opinion. It's the opinion of many, and is 100% why he isn't on draft boards.

No clue, just found the comment about Sanon to be interesting. "At 6-foot-5, Sanon is built like a prototypical NBA shooting guard. ASU head coach Bobby Hurley called him "the best shooter" he's ever coached earlier this season." That is very high praise for a coach that was a guard himself.

Yep. Wasn't doubting the evaluation of RJ Luis.

Just finding it beyond odd that a player with those deficiencies could somehow still be the Big East POY.

No doubt... Just goes to show how good he is on the glass and off the bounce.

I may have been a little critcal about his free throws. He averages about 75% from the charity stripe. If I had to be honest, his handle needs more work than the free throws.

IMO, the top three area for RJ to improve are:
- Defense
- Three point shooting
- Ball handling

Having seen SJU a lot this season, I really preferred Ejiofor as the MVP on the team. Like Luis, he prolly doesn't have an NBA career awaiting him (another undersized big) but he was a man among men on the offensive glass and showed a much-improved shot. The man can finish down low.

Endless motor... Kansas ****ed up letting him get away, because Pitino identified the talent immediately. I've watched him blossom. Last year he spelled Soriano (who was good in his own respect). But Zuby is on a completely different level. Everyone is happy to have hm back, and he may very well end up a St. John's legend - assuming we build on this year's success.

Truthfully, BE POY could have gone to Zuby or Kadary.

In the past few years, Pitino has identified and / or developed:

~ Dannis Jenkins ~ Iona ~ St. John's ~ NBA
~ Walter Clayton - Iona ~ Florida (St. John's was a close second, and had he followed Rick to Queens...)
~ Nelly Junior Joseph ~ Iona ~ New Mexico
~ RJ Luis ~ UMASS ~ Portal / NBA
~ Zuby ~ Kansas ~ St. John's

I believe we will be adding Joson Sanon to this list very soon.

* Peep that squad he had at Iona!!! Iona!!! A small Catholic School in New Rochelle, NY... Clayton, Jenkins, and Joseph... They almost beat UCONN. Had they been in another bracket, they could have went to the Sweet Sixteen.

It's very clear, and should go without saying, that Pitino has a lot to do with RJ's respective development. I trust St. John's will be fine, and dare I say, even better moving forward.

If he doesn't turn pro, which I think he is a 1st round pick, he should be #1 player in the transfer portal.
Again, I completely think he is turning pro but you should still inquire.

3rd Year, 3rd School. This is a terrible trend in college basketball that has become a norm.
College coaches have to do a better job of evaluating the talent and the character of these players.
If they have team hopped in High School and in travel basketball, then they will probably team hop in college.
Too many kids just want to play and few care about actually getting better.
Especially when NIL will pay your for being available instead of of being productive.
