Kaidon Salter might end up grading out as a mid day 3 guy like Ward did in the draft. We could potentially pull him in similar fashion

Have to follow his play this season, but if he returns for his senior year, that's exactly who I have my eye on.

won't be the field general cam is but would add value as a runner. i could see it, although thus far under mario/dawson we haven't seemed to trend towards designed-run type QBs.

I see it simply as I think he’ll be the best QB available should he choose to enter the portal. Different scheme yes, but he’s not that dissimilar to Clayton Thune. I believe he also ran a fair bit.

Here’s a bizarro world scenario:

Ewers from Texas, currently injured, takes a redshirt as Manning takes over and balls out the remainder of the season. Since Ewers missed most of 2024, he thinks he could use another year of film to enhance his draft status. He sees what Cam Ward did in Miami’s offense and the talent around him. Mario is able to keep Dawson for another season, and signs another elite recruiting class.

Think that could happen or are the psychedelics kicking in?

Kaidon Salter would be my first choice. Originally a top 100, 4* kid who went to and left Tenn before he ever really got started there. Has had a great career at Liberty and would be coming into what would be a contract year for him. He'll have over 35 starts or so by the time next year starts. Would send him to the same QB coach Cam and Shadeur used this past summer to tighten up things he needs to work on.

Thought we kicked the tires with the kid last cycle ?

Ewers is NFL bound after this sesaon and will take the starting job back from Arch regardless of how long he is hurt.

You have to treat Lagway as a Justin Fields or Kyler Murray type transfer. Sometimes even with limited PT or College film, you trust the talent.

If Lagway wants in, you take him. If he doesn't want in, you still send out feelers to try and change his mind.

He'll wait on the new coach most likely. If it's Lame Sniffin, he's not going anywhere. USC will probably also be players.

But he needs to be priority #1.
