I think those that are a bit negative don't understand that the portal changed what's possible for a team in terms of depth

GEORGIA had WR and OL issues this year

Ohio State had OL issues

Bama (several positions), Texas (RB), Penn State (WR), etc. all have units that were weaknesses

our problem was playcalling on defense and talent in the secondary -if we had Hetherman and our current DB room then we'd be playing for a title in two nights

obviously, that's on Mario ultimately as we fell short, which he's made swift action and fixed.

Pretending like every room is gonna be elite and have studs waiting is just fantasy land in the portal era. I would even expect one of our new DB's or someone like Markeith Williams, Damari brown, etc. to hit the portal in the spring due to the competition

That depth chart will change come the Spring portal, both ways. I would bring in a Mike and WLB. I think some are leaving with the loss of D Nick. I still think some DB's are leaving. It blows my mind we can't find a true nickel for 2 years. I have lost faith in Ray Ray. I hope he proves me wrong, but I bring in a slot. I bring in 2 WR's and use a bigger rotation. I try to move Bain inside, but he doesn't want to play inside so that isn't happening. My own thought, this season is big for Bain's future. We just have to get better production from the DE rotation this season as well as DT. Not a good enough return for the money invested. We shall see.

I think right now this is a 9-4 team

OL has 3 out of 5 starters returning plus Bell who got significant starts last year. They are definitely one of our strongest position groups

the RB room lacks depth. I guess Lofton can be used at RB but we need Pringle or CWH to be ready

WR - replacing alot here. Trader should be similar or an upgrade over Jacolby. Daniels can hopefully replace Hortons production. Who replaces X is the big question mark - Ny Carr, Ray Ray, Toney? Or a transfer?

With Moten is his 4th year, a guy like Blay coming in, plus year 2 and 3 for guys like Scott, Horton, Jones, we should be very productive here especially in a new/better system

LB - definitely concerns here. Wes and Popo really need to step up. Wiley should have every chance to play early. Again, hoping a new system does wonders for the LB group

DBs - kudos to Mario for flipping the talent here. Lots of skill and potential for the new DB coach to play with. Really need to nail the DB coach hire

CJ Daniels can fill that Horton role, hopefully JoJo can fill the George role. Not tryna count the guy out but I don’t have faith in Ray Ray. Carr should be the 2nd string slot WR. Canes need a vet slot wr/return man to account for some of the production they lose with X. Last but not least a WR1.

Thanks OP. Mario failed to complete his roster this past season and look where it got us....

On paper, team has lots of upside potential but lacks depth and in experience in certain areas. My thoughts on must haves post Spring:
* The OL starting 5 is top level. Behind you have yet to prove it guys. Think we need One more OL.
* DL on paper is solid but lacks experience besides Blay and Moten. Need One more BIG DUDE!
* LB aside from Wes has no other starter, maybe Popo has a couple of starts. Need ONE ILB
* CJ Daniels is the only WR with starting experience. We Need ONE WR
*RB see above WR. Fletcher has the experience and no one else. Need ONE RB, preferably plus 210lbs

We're close here and arguably the best roster Mario has put together on paper. The schedule is also tougher.

Let's win the ACC and get into the playoffs! Has to be the goal in 2025!

Go Canes!!
Hopefully Fletcher stays healthy over the off season and takes advantage of a whole offseason. He hasn’t had one since hes been here.

Wallace is more of a Nickle and safety.

I don’t know how WR is a B with the lack of production. We need a legit established WR badly. Same with LB. Need a legit starting LB.

Lmao
No team in America has guys with major starting experience on the bench anymore, they just portal. Lyle got plenty of carries as the 3rd back who was a true freshman RB behind a 1k runner and another 600 plus rusher with 9 TDs. Oline, you really need 1- 2 guys you can trust to play okay if a guy goes down. We have Rodriquez with starting experience and other highly capable, massive humans going into their 3rd seasons here. If 1-2 of them can’t step in if needed, Mario and Mirabal failed coaching them up. At WR, we failed by not getting these youngsters any snaps knowing we would lose 3 WRs for sure possibly 4 if Horton went pro (didn’t think he would transfer). Eventually you’ll have to play guys or they leave. Guys who will now be upper classmen and have been in your S&C and system for years.
LMAO…Why I said go get them..and what’s needed.

I'd love to see Lofton moved to RB fulltime. He can't be used inline @ TE and I'd rather see Schott in the slot, if we go that route.

To me, at 6'2 250, with his ability to run routes, catch and block, he'd be an excellent RB.

With Bauman, I assume we have our TE1. Nickel could be our TE2, whos been used as a blocker. Behind him, I'd hope we learned from our Riley Williams situation and started letting our young pups gain experience. We'll have Jackson Carver, Schott, and Luka Gilbert. Schott should play as a freshman. Gilbert looks like a monster. I honestly haven't heard anything on Carver but I don't see where Lofton would be missed at TE. At RB, he'd be a welcome addition

Always thought Kinsler was more of a guard, but every seems to list him as OT.

He's being groomed for the RT spot after Francis leaves. Big year though behind scenes cuz if he doesn't inspire confidence we might go portal next offseason too.
Yeah we’ve got some intriguing options at OL with the young guys

I thought Plazz was pretty underrated but I also remember them talking about him at center
