Keep sharing your info Zbrod. Saying he was on campus and got offered is factual and good info. Staff obviously thinks it's worth the effort. Can't compete for recruits if you don't make an effort. Being a feeder school should not stop any good staff.

We have a lot more trolls now that they see Richt is cleaning the clock of their precious schools in recruiting. LSU will be in meltdown mode if Miles has another tough season, an some kids just want a change in scenery. Glad we're taking shots in their home territory.

I hope so that way Jimbo leaves FSU for LSU, he almost did it this year

Former U-High lineman Adrian Ealy making big push at East Ascension | The Advocate *€” Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Former U-High lineman Adrian Ealy making big push at East Ascension

Adrian Ealy remained focused on the commands from East Ascension offensive line coach Keragan McCready as he settled into a stance.

Then, in one smooth and swift ballet-like motion, Ealy powered his way past a player holding a blocking pad. It is one of two crucial education phases for one of Louisiana’s top prospects for 2017.

Ealy, a three-year starter at University High, faced the same dilemma as former UHS teammate Dylan Moses. Like Moses, Ealy plans to graduate in December and enroll at the college of his choice in January 2017.

U-High doesn’t offer an early graduation option, which led to Moses transferring to Florida power IMG Academy in January. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound Ealy found a solution closer to home — East Ascension — a school located minutes from his home.

“This was a family decision,” Ealy said. “We sat down and talked about it a lot and decided it would be in my best interest to graduate at mid-term and enroll in college.

“I loved the years I spent at U-High and have a lot of friends there. It’s a great school. Being at East Ascension gives me the chance to graduate early and play with friends I grew up with. I have a brother who graduated from EA. This suits me.”

For now, the fit is somewhat metaphorical. Ealy, who has withdrawn from Class 3A U-High, doesn’t have a blue Spartans helmet. First-year EAHS coach Darnell Lee has ordered one for the big addition to an already solid offensive line.

“All the extra-large helmets we had were given out and we don’t share those,” Lee said with a smile. Lee studies Ealy, a four-star prospect, and the other Spartans linemen as they review the basic blocking schemes. Cameron Wyre, an up-and-coming 6-5 junior, took his turn in the line next to Ealy during the drills.

“We’ve got two 6-5 kids who are both basketball players,” Lee said. “They can be very good. Playing beside a guy like Adrian is going to help them. The first thing you see is his size, but if you watch him you can see how polished and athletic he is. Technically, Adrian is sound and experienced.”

Lee said he met Ealy a couple of years ago. At the time, Lee painted houses to make some extra money; the Ealy family home wound up being one of his jobs. When the Ealys began exploring options, Lee said he told them to make sure a solution wasn’t available at U-High.

Ealy is a slam dunk choice to play left tackle for the Class 5A Spartans. He may also get snaps on defense, something he also did at U-High.

“I’ve been knowing Adrian for a lot of years and when he told me he was coming to EA, I said, ‘Well let’s go,’ ” left guard Trevor Fleming said. “He’s been catching on to what we do at practice. Sometimes we go through it after practice. He understands he’s coming into a program we’ve built up and he just wants to play his game.”

There was some fatigue for Ealy in the weight room Tuesday morning. He returned from the Rivals 100 Five-Star Challenge held in Atlanta late Sunday. Camps at LSU and Alabama are part of a busy schedule in the weeks ahead.

Recruiting services list LSU as the favorite to land Ealy although Alabama also is buzz-worthy. There’s no shortage of high-profile offers, including Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona, Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Ealy said he plans to narrow his list to five finalists. Don’t expect news of a commitment any time soon. Showing a flair for the dramatic, Ealy said he plans to announce his commitment the week of Oct. 10, which is when the Spartans play rival St. Amant.

McCready said he remembers watching Ealy play in middle school and has been impressed with his work ethic.

EAHS offensive coordinator Brian Young adds, “What you don’t understand until you see it is how quick he is. He was running against linebackers (Monday) and beating them. You don’t see that every day.”

Well spoken young man for a HS junior.

Sooners Lead for Rivals250 OT

In Oklahoma recruiting one of the surprising stories at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge was Oklahoma's apparent true standing with Rivals250 offensive tackle Adrian Ealy. The 6-foot-7, 282-pound blocker had long been a player the Sooners staff was focused on but, like many Louisiana products, the Gonzales East Ascension prospect seemed a far-fetched hope for Bill Bedenbaugh, Bob Stoops, and co.

However, his comments at the time said otherwise. Fast forward more than a month and it seems the Sooners chances have grown considerably.

"Everything has been going well, I've been talking to coach B(edenbaugh) every day," Ealy said. "I would say since the Rivals camp our relationship has grown way more, I’ve been able to talk to him on an every day basis. It got way stronger than what it was. I haven’t met him yet in person."

Ealy will fix the issue of a lack of face-to-face time between he and the Sooner offensive line coach when he visits Norman for their barbecue event on July 29.

"I want to see how the environment is, see the difference from there and at home, see the facilities, what the school has to offer. Also to get a look at the academics," he said. "Right now I’m thinking broadcasting, I heard broadcasting up there is amazing, I'm going to try and do that. I feel like that could be one of the best (majors) for me.

"Now, it’s just me, my mom, my dad, and my brother. My mom might have to work, so it may just end up being me, my dad, and my brother."

Ealy, like many in Louisiana, has long been thought to be a heavy LSU lean and while he feels the pressure to stay with the in-state powerhouse his recent visit was something of a standard trip.

"I was at the LSU camp this past Saturday. It went pretty well, I had to leave early, I wasn’t able to do one-on-ones, my first cousin was in the hospital and I had to go see him. During the time I was there it was pretty much same old, same old. It was just me getting a personal work out really," he said.

"LSU you know, me being up there all the time, well not as much as I was since I transferred. I guess you could say it is the same thing, since my ninth grade year, they want me there – I could be a big asset to the team, they want to keep me drawn, so I won’t leave."

Like he discussed in Atlanta, Ealy currently has a top group and says that one school has climbed to the top of that list.

"I’m going to say it’s five or six, but I would say right now Oklahoma is the No. 1 school right now, or tied at No. 1 – maybe Miami. I just started talking to Florida again, I’ll be there Thursday," he said. "Also Mississippi State, I grew to like them a lot.

"Florida State a little bit, I’m talking to them right now. Also, me and Alabama, I have been talking to them often. Alabama is starting to put a relationship together, talking to coach (Mario) Cristobal."

Oklahoma has clearly made a strong impression at the nation's No. 20 offensive tackle and No. 177 overall player but how has Bedenbaugh put Oklahoma in such a strong spot?

"I guess you could say, they are showing me the most love," Ealy said.

With the Sooners leading some might expect that Ealy could pull the trigger during his visit to Norman but it doesn't sound like he has any intention of deciding in the next few weeks. The next few months however? That may be a different story.

"I guess you could say it’s my choice, my mom and my dad, they really just want me to make the best choice for me – they don’t feel that I have to go to LSU," he said. "I really want to take my time, it probably will get to the point where I do want to commit (on the trip) – I do have this set day when I want to commit.

"The plan is to give my commitment the week of Sept. 10, the weekend my school plays our big rival. That will be hard to get my officials in before that but it will probably be that week in or that week after.

"My official, we are going to set that date while I am up there, to get my official, we are going to do it up there.

"The (Ohio State game) might be the one I attend."

Though the Sooners are at the top of his list, to a degree he says they aren't alone. Miami has also caught his attention and he says it's for one very simple reason.

"I guess you could say they have that relationship, like I have with coach B, coach Stacy (Searels) really shows me that he really wants me – he is telling me I could come in and start early on. That right there, that means a lot."

"I kind of cut it down a little bit with my birthday last week, but with the flood, I put that on hold. Right now, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan will make it and of course, LSU being my first scholarship offer and my hometown, I keep them in mind."
Tennessee, Mississippi State, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Auburn are also in the mix for official visits and to make the top five.

"Oklahoma though, is certainly the leader for the No. 1 offensive tackle in Louisiana.
"That's the school I've been recruiting me the hardest. Fan wise, coaching wise, player wise, they're all hitting me up on Twitter so you know, "I can see that the love is there. That's an offensive line school," Ealy said. "That's a school that talks to me everyday. I feel like I already know them. I haven't visited yet, but I've heard it's beautiful."

LSU is still on Ealy, but the Tigers have to do some things to jump back to the top of the race like LSU was in the spring.
"I grew up on them. That's my hometown team and school so I got love for LSU being my first offer," Ealy said. "I guess they need to recruit harder. I understand it. Growing up here, I get that feeling that they already assume I'm going there. I just feel like they've got to recruit me a little harder. I just feel like Oklahoma is showing me the most love."
Cam Cameron is still on Ealy and there's no doubt the Tigers feel like family for Ealy.
"He's (Cameron) my main recruiter. I talk to coach Grimes a little bit and coach Miles. It's regular talking to him (Miles). I'm best friends with both his sons. That's just like family."

Miami (Fla.) and Michigan are also making an impression on Ealy with Jim Harbuagh and Co. being the new school to the group.
"Coach Harbaugh texts me everyday. I call him and they're a school I've just now started looking into," Scout's No. 257 ranked player in the country said.
"I went up for the spring last year (to Miami). Coach Richt and coach Stacey are amazing guys. I know coach Richt is going to be there for a pretty good while since he just got there. I think Miami is about to rebuild and have a really good season."
