2017 In-State 'Must Gets'

We need DTs, OLineman, CBs, WRs, LBs, RBs as big needs. Lots of depth issues almost across the board

2017 class is going to be a monster...numbers and star ratings a la the class of 2008. lets hope it pans out better

Robert burns

Talent wise top 5 player in the state. Would be the best running back Miami has recruited in a long time.....

Can someone elaborate? I feel like hype is being built upon hype here. I see a good looking prospect, but I'm not sure I see this extreme hype. Granted I've only seen limited tape, but every time I ask this question, no one answers.

6 ypc against gulliver competition doesn't scream the next great South Florida running back to me.

With all that said, I do like Burns and am happy he's on board.

15yrs old?

If Rumph can't get Marco then it's no use. He has has a loooooonggg relationship with th e kid aND his dad. I don't know who said Rumph was brought as a recruiter?. He's not plugged in like that and his school poached from other public schools in the area. I'm just hoping he gets our CBS right..the college recruiting game is new to him all the way.
Marco Wilson is the play, dad is an alumni, long standing relationship etc. We should grab at a minimum 3 ahp players.

We better lol, if we get marco and have chad on the coaches good side it would give us a boost

Are you asking if I'm 15 years old because I'm interested in a discussion as to what warrants the extent of the hype Burns has been getting on this board?

I like Burns, from what I've seen he's definitely a take. That tape looks good. I don't see a top 5 player in the state, or a guy who would have been the #1 RB in the 2016 class from that tape, though (both things I've read posted here about him recently). I don't see a Dalvin Cook/Alex Collins/Duke Johnson type of talent.

I'm not 100% with my evaluations; I very well could be wrong. I think he has a nice combination of skills, but no elite element to his RB game. Solid size, solid balance, solid speed, solid vision. That could make a for a pretty **** good RB. I just want to read more about what others see that makes them think he's the next big time South Florida RB. I'm very open to being influenced by the analysis of others.

I'm pretty much with you. The local RBs I've seen for 2017 haven't blown me away.

As uber talented as kids are in so FLA...you mean to tell me there is only ONE DT worth looking at?? WTF

Well we already got a stud DL from South Florida committed for the 2017 class -- Jon Ford. He's about 260 now, and is all DT. He is an elite prospect IMO

Burns is okay....wont go as far as to say top 5 in the state. The kid from Clearwater is better if you ask me. Also, didn't Burns say he was 70% committed? If he is looking, we are looking too....

No. If he is looking then we do everything we can to make him stop looking. He's a very good back from a feeder school. No excuses for losing him unless we find someone way better, which I'm not sure there are many of those kids this cycle.

You do what you can to make him stop, but you keep your options open as well....no more of getting stuck at the alter if the kid decides to go elsewhere. But as far as RBs who may be better, the only kids above Burns IMO, is the kid from Clearwater, but he is coming off of an injury, and that McFarland kid in Maryland who everyone is after. He is legit. If we can land any of those two with Burns, Id be happy.

Im with you D, i like burns but i wanna see more from him, not too much of a fan of the kid from AH bryn i think his name is, the kid i like is mcfarland from dematha that boy elite, also like the kid we just offered

Personally, I think we have no shot at Slaton but that's just me.

Why not?

Kid is having big time SEC interest including FSU. All the big boys are after this guy and these battles rarely go our way (almost never) especially for an OL/DT

Can't the same be said for Ahmmon Richards, Joe Jackson, Shaq Quarterman, Jaquan Johnson, Trevor Darling, KC McDermott, Anthony Moten, Chad Thomas, Artie Burns, Stacy Coley, and Jermaine Grace over the last 3 years.

Seems to be an excessively negative take. Especially considering we're his only listed unofficial visit to date according to 247.

I'm not saying he's ours, but we do it every cycle despite poor coaching over the past few years.

Lots of those guys are positional guys and I'm focused on OL/DT. Darling and Thomas are decent arguments but they were all cane from babies.

I'm only listing guys we have a realistic shot at.:

WR - One of Jeudy (Deerfield)
OL - Tederral Slaton (Heritage) /no 1 target imo
OL - Cesar Ruiz (IMG)
DE - Guy Thomas (Columbus)
DE - Jarez Parks (Sebastian)
DE - Zach Carter (Hillsborough)
CB - Stanford Samuels (Flanagan)
CB - Marco Wilson (Heritage)
S - Daniel Wright (Cardinal Gibbons) /cant let monsters like this continue to go to FSU

None of these guys. Maybe Thomas, but rest of them 0%.

What makes you think we have no shot at these guys, particularly a guy like Slaton?

Juedy Bama the favorite. They will "buy" him into replacing Ridley.

Slaton SEC kid. I am thinking LSU here.

Ruiz. IMG kid from NJ. We don't have Al anymore. He will end up in the north like most IMG kids from the north. B1G likely. Michigan is having spring practice at IMG.

Thomas. Brother of Matthew Thomas nuff said.

Jarez Park. North of the Okeechobee. UF likely lands him due to fandom & need.

Zach Carter. Same as above.

SSIII. FSU legacy. waste of words.

Marco Wilson- UF legacy

Daniel Wright - UF legacy. Not oging there tho, he ends up in SEC like LSU.

marco wilson a legacy to UF? his dad played here and we would have had quincy if golden wasn't a *****

daniel wright has been trending to UM lately

same for thomas

as for slaton rumph needs to get on his *** plus its too early to tell where he is going

tbh its too early to say they aren't coming or are coming things change, one thing though the whole "legacy" thing is played out there have been numerous times when kids go to different schools

Wright just did a interview and said its fsu and clemson on top for him. Said miami has a lot of ground to make up.

Dade county OL goons don't come around that often and when they do, we HAVE to sign them. Donaldson and Telfort are musts, imo.

I think Slaton is all SEC/FSU - JMO.

According to slaton profile on 247 his top 2 is duke and michigan.

Easy to say that about Darling and Thomas now. Everyone was terrified Thomas would go wherever Matt Thomas went or that he would go to Bama.

Based on your parameters, literally the only prospects applicable to look at are Travonte Valentine, KC McDermott, Trevor Darling, Anthony Moten, and maaaaaybe Khairi Clark (his star faded pretty hard into his senior season).

The fact of the matter is I don't have the absolute pessimism you do for such a scenario.

Robert burns hasn't had that many carries over his years in highschool which can be viewed as great since he doesn't have wear and tear but also a negative since it might be because of injuries. His size, speed and power jumps off the screen and what he can be when watching his film

If Rumph can't get Slaton here then I give up on trying to understand that hire.

It's his HS coach and we signed one **** OL this year. We didn't get a visit from Burns, we lost Byrd and Miller. If you're gonna be a recruiter you better be a **** good recruiter. Get it done.

Personally, I think we have no shot at Slaton but that's just me. Besides, I don't think Rumph will be his main recruiter - Searles will.

As for Rumph, I think that if he can't land Wilson, that would be a bigger indictment of Rumph - not Slaton.

They will be recrutiing by area not position going forward.

All those receivers and no Grimes? Dude was the top performer at the Under Armour Junior 50 competition. Just because he is committed to strong lean somewhere doesn't mean we give up. Bruce, winning, and a little Mark can get it done.

Grimes is from the Northeast Ohio/Indiana...he is not from Florida....all his family is there and Ohio State was the first to offer and recruit him in 9th grade...Urban not letting up on him...kid will go to OSU

That's the losing mindset that has cost this program. Gotta keep pressing for the best kids. You never know. Maybe Meyer has another heart attack. Plus he's in Florida for a reason.

Thank you.

A++ screen name my dude. Respect.

Dude, he just moved to Florida like 3 years ago... he has never mentioned Miami and not even considering them with the new staff...does he have a offer? Yes, but the writing is on the wall... He gone.....

Again that's the weak minded way. You sell them on the fact that down here its better. **** most people that I know that come from up north don't want to go back. Lol.

All it means is that you have to get creative in your pitch. That's what these guys are getting paid to do. So step up.

What you are saying is equivalent to not talking to the hottest girl in the room because you think she's out of your league.
