2017 In-State 'Must Gets'

I'm only listing guys we have a realistic shot at.:

WR - One of Jeudy (Deerfield)
OL - Tederral Slaton (Heritage) /no 1 target imo
OL - Cesar Ruiz (IMG)
DE - Guy Thomas (Columbus)
DE - Jarez Parks (Sebastian)
DE - Zach Carter (Hillsborough)
CB - Stanford Samuels (Flanagan)
CB - Marco Wilson (Heritage)
S - Daniel Wright (Cardinal Gibbons) /cant let monsters like this continue to go to FSU

None of these guys. Maybe Thomas, but rest of them 0%.

What makes you think we have no shot at these guys, particularly a guy like Slaton?

Juedy Bama the favorite. They will "buy" him into replacing Ridley.

Slaton SEC kid. I am thinking LSU here.

Ruiz. IMG kid from NJ. We don't have Al anymore. He will end up in the north like most IMG kids from the north. B1G likely. Michigan is having spring practice at IMG.

Thomas. Brother of Matthew Thomas nuff said.

Jarez Park. North of the Okeechobee. UF likely lands him due to fandom & need.

Zach Carter. Same as above.

SSIII. FSU legacy. waste of words.

Marco Wilson- UF legacy

Daniel Wright - UF legacy. Not oging there tho, he ends up in SEC like LSU.

Well that's bleak. Seems like not much gonna change in recruiting.

If Rumph can't get Slaton here then I give up on trying to understand that hire.

It's his HS coach and we signed one **** OL this year. We didn't get a visit from Burns, we lost Byrd and Miller. If you're gonna be a recruiter you better be a **** good recruiter. Get it done.

Personally, I think we have no shot at Slaton but that's just me. Besides, I don't think Rumph will be his main recruiter - Searles will.

As for Rumph, I think that if he can't land Wilson, that would be a bigger indictment of Rumph - not Slaton.

Guy Thomas can easily be a hurricane, Matthew hasn't had a good time at FSU

The good thing about this list, is that at least 4 of them are layups since we just hired their high school coach, Rumph. He doesn't take no for an answer.

marco wilson a legacy to UF? his dad played here and we would have had quincy if golden wasn't a *****

daniel wright has been trending to UM lately

same for thomas

as for slaton rumph needs to get on his *** plus its too early to tell where he is going

tbh its too early to say they aren't coming or are coming things change, one thing though the whole "legacy" thing is played out there have been numerous times when kids go to different schools

All those receivers and no Grimes? Dude was the top performer at the Under Armour Junior 50 competition. Just because he is committed to strong lean somewhere doesn't mean we give up. Bruce, winning, and a little Mark can get it done.

Grimes is from the Northeast Ohio/Indiana...he is not from Florida....all his family is there and Ohio State was the first to offer and recruit him in 9th grade...Urban not letting up on him...kid will go to OSU

That's the losing mindset that has cost this program. Gotta keep pressing for the best kids. You never know. Maybe Meyer has another heart attack. Plus he's in Florida for a reason.

Thank you.

A++ screen name my dude. Respect.

Dude, he just moved to Florida like 3 years ago... he has never mentioned Miami and not even considering them with the new staff...does he have a offer? Yes, but the writing is on the wall... He gone.....

If Rumph can't get Marco then it's no use. He has has a loooooonggg relationship with th e kid aND his dad. I don't know who said Rumph was brought as a recruiter?. He's not plugged in like that and his school poached from other public schools in the area. I'm just hoping he gets our CBS right..the college recruiting game is new to him all the way.
Marco Wilson is the play, dad is an alumni, long standing relationship etc. We should grab at a minimum 3 ahp players.

Robert burns

Talent wise top 5 player in the state. Would be the best running back Miami has recruited in a long time.....

Can someone elaborate? I feel like hype is being built upon hype here. I see a good looking prospect, but I'm not sure I see this extreme hype. Granted I've only seen limited tape, but every time I ask this question, no one answers.

6 ypc against gulliver competition doesn't scream the next great South Florida running back to me.

With all that said, I do like Burns and am happy he's on board.

Nice list.

As for corners, I don't care where we get them from. But we need several premier corners after the worst three-year stretch of CB recruiting imaginable. It's the biggest need on the entire team and there are no excuses with the playing time we have available and the benefit of the first-year recruiting bump.

It's a rare year where OL talent seems to be pretty strong in our backyard. You're absolutely right about Slaton being the biggest priority. We have to find a way to land him.

One thing I'll mention is that it's not an either-or discussion at WR when it comes to Jeudy, Greene, Scott, etc. We need 4 studs in 2017 because we'll only have 6 on scholarship once Coley/Lewis are gone. Richt even singled out WR during his signing day presser as one position where we don't have the numbers he seeks. WR remains a massive priority both in terms of top-end talent and depth.

I like Mullins as a CB on this team.

Personally, I think we have no shot at Slaton but that's just me.

Why not?

Kid is having big time SEC interest including FSU. All the big boys are after this guy and these battles rarely go our way (almost never) especially for an OL/DT

Can't the same be said for Ahmmon Richards, Joe Jackson, Shaq Quarterman, Jaquan Johnson, Trevor Darling, KC McDermott, Anthony Moten, Chad Thomas, Artie Burns, Stacy Coley, and Jermaine Grace over the last 3 years.

Seems to be an excessively negative take. Especially considering we're his only listed unofficial visit to date according to 247.

I'm not saying he's ours, but we do it every cycle despite poor coaching over the past few years.

Agreed. We have the best coach we've had roaming our sidelines since Butch Davis, there's a lot of opportunity to compete for early playing time, and Richt will have the benefit of the first-year recruiting bump. We shouldn't be conceding anything a year away from next year's NSD.

Over a year and a half ago, some were saying Dionte Mullins would never come to Miami. Sam Bruce was supposed to be either all FSU or Jordan Scarlett's follower to UF, but he signed with us. On the flip side, Tyler Byrd was all UM roughly a year ago and we all saw what happened there.

Aside from situations like Samuel presumably being a Nole lock because he's an FSU legacy, there's no reason to speak definitively about having no shot at premier recruits who don't have Miami as one of their favorites 12 months before they put pen to paper.
