2017 Class Targets/Offers

Updated the list a little:

- With Davis and Brini getting offers on the first day that CMR's full staff is back to recruiting for 2017, my guess is that they are the Top 2 CB prospects for 2017 (would say Nick Roberts and Christopher Henderson round out the Top 4)

- Also included a Junior Day note next to each player rumored to be coming on Feb 20 or Feb 26

we've cooled on dunning apparently.

Sauces? These kids have to relax. Staff been together for one full month....everyone will be taken care of

Per Dunning he and the Staff haven't really spoken at all. Now that could just be the Staff settling in, but time will tell.

Time will tell....but im not worried either way. Richt has always recruited well. If Dunning is feeling some type of way and bounces, there will be another good player of his caliber to replace him. But I seriously think the staff is settling in and getting things lined up. They will get to him. He is high profile enough

Think we pull any commits during junior day?

I don't have any inside information at all. I just read this site, a few others, and sometimes twitter. But if I was to take a guess, I wouldn't be surprised to see a commit or two.

Maybe from the following..

Dingle
Wilder
Davis
Blackmon (if this staff goes hard and wants him)
Jordan Wright
Nadarius F agan
Billy Gibson
Daniel Wright

We all know that the local SoFla kids still grow up loving The U, even with how mediocre we've been. And we also see alot of these kids get excited on their first visit, and end up committing on Junior Days.

Lets just hope that this staff can have a better record of holding onto these commits (which i'm sure they will)

Regarding Dunning- let me know when we sign a kid Dillard. Well now he's at STA. Dunning is not elite.

Need to get both of these guys

I think Dunning is overrated. He plays DL for STA, and is gonna play LB at Miami? Makes no sense...
i'm not sold either but he has committed to play MLB and i haven't really seen a good MLB down here for 2017 just a lot of goon OLB's

Dunning had to sacrifice this year and play DL because STA hit the injury bug on the DL. He got bigger and a little faster and more agile with STA S&C during his junior year. Was a little stiff while at Dillard, plays with more hip flex now.

STA put him on the DL also because he had experience there cause he did a little bit of that for Dillard.

He's a MLB all the way. STA plans to keep him at LB this year since they brought in some more DL through transfers.

I do think Kearney is a better prospect than Dunning (More athletically gifted and higher ceiling) and Steed a better player (Steed instincts and football IQ are very good.) But Dunning is your ideal MLB, he's a thumper, he lays the boom. He's the best MLB in the state and we need to add more quality there. Is he a 5*, no, but he's a 4* talent.

Adding Wilder to that group of 3 would be critical. You take those 4 and you fix the depth. All at the minimum are 4* prospects.
(Miami leads for him and he has a good prior existing relationship with Richt)

I like Nadarius ***an but he needs some muscle (Think he might be a better SS than OLB, take the Gayot approach with him and see how he develops with weight)

i feel like Nadarious is an ideal Miami athlete. Gayot is a good comparison.

Updated with Junior Day visitors.. Thanks Geo for the info in the other thread. I like to keep this thread updated for myself so I can view some sort of organized and condensed list of 2017 targets, but if people are annoyed with it I'll stop posting in it.

In a heartbeat. Is that how you rate them. I would personally rate them differently and give F'agan a LB/S section.

LB James Houston from American Heritage was offered by UM today. One of Rumphs former players.

Yea after watching film, and adding Houston into the mix..

1. Wilder
2. Houston
3. Steed
4. F'agan
5. Kearney
6. Dunning

Hard to rank Dunning due to him playing DE or DT alot on film this year, same with Steed being injured

Steed & Kearney would be 2/3 for me. Feel you have Houston IV just a bit too high.

Not accusing you but I feel some people are getting a little of the "shiny new toy" syndrome when it's coming to prospects and new offers. When someone is committed for a while, people tend to not pay attention as much. Something that I agree with very much with Shaqs dad from the 2016 cycle.

On topic of Houston IV though. I've always been impressed with his speed and his cover ability. Would like him to become more physical. Would have him 4/5 with Dunning, mainly due to Dunning playing limited LB as junior to cover for STA DL injury bug.

As for F'agan, as I mentioned earlier. View him as a SS now so I wouldn't personally put him in the list of LBs, that's just my opinion though. Would make a section for LB/S with him and AJ Deshazor.

Back on to American Heritage, even though this is for 2017. I feel their 2018 DE Andrew Chatfield kind of slid under the radar with all the attention on Brian Burns in 2016 when I watched them in person. Very athletic for a DE.

Yea I agree on the "shiny new toy" syndrome comment, and maybe Houston should be lower, but his film was excellent.

As for F'agan, you don't think he's a Jermaine Grace type? I think he has just as much potential as any of these LBs. Redshirt year one to put on weight to get to 210-215 range, and then by Soph RS year, he could be a freak
