2014 Football Schedule

Straight up, I cant even call it yet. It really comes down to how good Hurt and Wyche are/will be.........

If we beat duke, 8-4. If not, 7-5.

Louisville, FSU, Vtech, Nebraska losses. 7-5 and Golden will need an 11th hour reprieve from Blake to get a 5th year.

"If we beat Duke"

Gat **** this program is sad. The only thing Golden has done better than Shannon to this point is... What exactly?

LMFAO @ anyone who think THAT is a tough schedule

Tell me the last time we beat a good team. Thanks. So yeah, it is a tough schedule. Wanna know why? Because we lose to Duke, Virginia, VT Tech, UNC, allll the time (excluding Duke)

You're doing it wrong.

You're saying its a tough schedule because we stink. That's not how it works.

I'm pretty surprised everyone thinks we will be so bad. I think we go 9-3 with a decent chance to do better. Look I have zero faith in our coach and our DC in particular, but this roster is going to be **** talented next year, especially if we can get guys like Deon and Malcolm back to playing the way they are capable. Duke holds a lot of it as well.

I've got to say, I like the way this schedule shook out. I think its as advantageous as possible for us:

* We get The Ville on their first game with a new coaching staff and new QB.
* Bye week before road game at Va Tech.
* FSU at home.

That's really all we ask for in a schedule.

Didn't really want that...

ACC scheduled UM's opener at Louisville for Labor Day night; Miami had requested game be played later in yr. because teams played in bowl.

Seems like the perfect motivator for the spring and summer. . .didn't want l$u either SMFH.

Wtf makes u think Golden is down with the QB carousel? If anything hes loyal to a fault; see Jacory, Morris and the entire defensive coaching staff. Its like u guys just totally disregard everrything yall have observed over the last 3 yrs. Duke will be a toss up like every other game against a d1 team as long as our defensive philosophy stays the same.
I like the way this schedule sets up for settling our QB situation as we go into the meat of our schedule.
Vs UL I would like to see both QBs, Williams and Olsen, get near equal playing time unless one of the 2 clearly is having the better outing.
Vs FAMU you can get all 3 some good playing time. start the QB that had the better game and get the back and Kaaya some playing time. If he impresses and one or both have bad performances bump him up to #2 vs Arkansas St.
Vs Arkansas State play the starter full time but don't hesitate to pull him if he's ***cing up and we're losing cause of it.
By the time we head to Nebraska, the true #1 QB that gives this team the best chance of winning and one that the players see as their leader should emerge.
If we can get this, I like our chances of winning 10+ games to end the season.

Oh and we aint losing to Duke.

maybe because there is no established QB with much experience like there was with Jacory and Morris.
And I thought he shuffled QBs in Temple until he settled on one.

I swear our school is full of a bunch of pussies. I agree with you, this should be a good motivator. Our school is obviously not confident they can win.

I'm an eternal optimist. The team will be more talented than this past season which is a plus. I think the game at Louisville carries a lot of weight. If Miami wins, Canes will have a very good season. I've predicted the last two years accurately with 7-5 and 9-3. Ill say 10-2. I like to think Miami learns from the bowl game and turns the corner in 2014. Otherwise, it's Golden's head. 10-2 at best. 8-4 at worse. (Which will put Golden on the hot seat in my opinion.)

Agree. Not sure why so many see Louisville as a loss. We are getting better. We have NO key losses on the team other than arguably Morris, but given how he played last year, I don't see that as a loss. Louisville will lose their superstar QB and some other top players, and their recruiting hasn't been so great the past couple of years that they have top replacements waiting to fill in. I see Miami improving over last year and Louisville sliding.

Speak coherently. That's about it.

He is a great talker; a great politician if you will.

This guy sounds like a genius compared to Randy, which is why so many fans still think he's a good college football coach.

LOL! I can hear it now: "This is really year one for Golden", "But...but NEXT year, with Kaaya!"

Miami will beat GT.... easily.

We should've beaten them easily last season too--but dumb dumb & company came out completely flat-- **** near gave that game away. Note GTs horrible QB (only reason we won) has transferred. I wouldn't count this one as an easy "win" by any means.

Golden better step it up big this season. Otherwise, the seat start heating up.

His seat is plenty hot right now, but Al has his extension and hefty buy out clause... so mediocrity or underachievement wont cost him like it should. He'll be just good enuf to keep his job until the program is back in the toilet completely, then we'll zip him, with a year or two left on his deal. Complete rebuild/re-tooling yet again.

I wish we could've begun this process this year where we had enuf talent that a new coaching staff might be able to pick up the piece and actually do something with it... alas it wasn't meant to be.

Losses at UL, Nebraska, VT and FSU,

UNC, Duke, GT and UVA are tossups.

I say 7-5, 4-4 ACC, or just maybe 8-4, 5-3 ACC, but most importantly, THIRD in the Coastal AGAIN!

How can some of you guys call yourself fans. If u think we're going to be that bad, why are you still posting on a Canes fan website? Do us all a favor and go away and come back when we are meeting your expectations. I see why the stadium is never pack. Bunch of sissies!

Louisville, Virginia Tech, and FSU are all automatic losses.

Toss in 2-3 games we shouldn't lose but will.

There's your 2014 Miami Hurricanes.

It got Shannon fired. Holding out hope it gets Golden fired.

I agree with you, this should be a good motivator. Our school is obviously not confident they can win.

It's not a good motivator. It's a disastrous scheduling spot. I'm glad the school had the sense to want the Louisville game to be played later.

Louisville will be incredibly amped up to begin the game, determined to smack Miami in the mouth again to certify the pecking order and verify that the bowl result was not a fluke. That's the way home Fury of Anti-Revenge works. It's incredibly powerful at the outset of the season. I discovered it in 1988 when the Canes thrashed Florida State 31-0 after the famous comeback win at Tallahassee a season earlier. The Seminoles assumed they would be the more motivated team in 1988 but that frenzy belongs to the home team.

The Canes will have to be quite resilient and careful to begin that game. You can't let the home team's energy advantage to fully translate to the scoreboard. Normally the Fury of Anti-Revenge edge starts to wear off late in the first half to midway third quarter. But often it's too late at that point for the road team to rescue things.

I'd give us little hope in that game, given the scheduling spot, other than Louisville changing the coach and quarterback. The less similarity to the season before, the lower impact of FAR.

I like UL as the season opener.
UL will be vulnerable as they will be in a state of transition.
New Coach, new QB, new offensive system, new defensive system (probably 3-4), best DL player gone, top tackler gone.

Only concerns I have is Petrino having all off-season to prepare for this game and our QBs. Can Williams/Olsen handle to pressure being 1st time starters at UM on the road in a meaningful game against an ACC opponent?

But I like that Duke will be back healthy. Our RB depth being better and more experience. Our OL should be better run blocking.
And we always have the explosive playmaking capabilities of Coley.

This game Has the UF game feel where everyone on this board was picking UF but the opposite ended up true.
Taken objectively, I'm going with Miami to pull off the win on the road which will spring board us to a 3-0 Top 25 ranking heading into NU.
And I'm not ready to concede NU either.

If we had made necessary changes (as the asswhooping they gave us called for) I might be persuaded to see some of the above as "possibilities." But the fact remains, for all their question marks, and the loss of an NFL caliber 1st round QB-- they beat our a$$es up and down the field in every phase of the game. Olive Garden is 10 x the coach Golden is, and most of the players who just kicked our d***s in the dirt are still there.

They have change being foisted upon them, and we catch them early. Normally, that would be a positive. We have zero change, which is why I don't think it favors us in any way. We won't capitalize on it. I just don't see it.
