2014 Football Schedule

I like UL as the season opener.
UL will be vulnerable as they will be in a state of transition.
New Coach, new QB, new offensive system, new defensive system (probably 3-4), best DL player gone, top tackler gone.

Only concerns I have is Petrino having all off-season to prepare for this game and our QBs. Can Williams/Olsen handle to pressure being 1st time starters at UM on the road in a meaningful game against an ACC opponent?

But I like that Duke will be back healthy. Our RB depth being better and more experience. Our OL should be better run blocking.
And we always have the explosive playmaking capabilities of Coley.

This game Has the UF game feel where everyone on this board was picking UF but the opposite ended up true.
Taken objectively, I'm going with Miami to pull off the win on the road which will spring board us to a 3-0 Top 25 ranking heading into NU.
And I'm not ready to concede NU either.

If we had made necessary changes (as the asswhooping they gave us called for) I might be persuaded to see some of the above as "possibilities." But the fact remains, for all their question marks, and the loss of an NFL caliber 1st round QB-- they beat our a$$es up and down the field in every phase of the game. Olive Garden is 10 x the coach Golden is, and most of the players who just kicked our d***s in the dirt are still there.

They have change being foisted upon them, and we catch them early. Normally, that would be a positive. We have zero change, which is why I don't think it favors us in any way. We won't capitalize on it. I just don't see it.

I think if we were all on the same drugs as calamity jane, we would all be seeing it...

How can some of you guys call yourself fans. If u think we're going to be that bad, why are you still posting on a Canes fan website? Do us all a favor and go away and come back when we are meeting your expectations. I see why the stadium is never pack. Bunch of sissies!

Why don't you go home and bite your pillow? And who you calling "sissy?' As tired as you seem of people like us, we're equally tired of the "rah rah" Pollyanna types like you who's unquestioned "faith" in this program is laughable and nauseating all at once. Newsflash-- our coaching staff is overmatched (in case you haven't seen the early returns) and it isn't gonna get better "hoping" they turn things around by employing the same defense, by the same DC, and HC, who are clearly outcoached week after week.

Why don't you go find another message board where everything's sunny and you can wear your "mean people suck" t-shirt with confidence and pride.

LMFAO @ anyone who think THAT is a tough schedule

LMAO @ your post.

11 of the 12 teams on that schedule went to Bowl games this past season.

That IS a tough schedule.

6 wins gets you a bowl invite. That doesn't make you a good team.

Louisville - 12 wins

FAMU - 3 wins

Arkansas State - 8 wins

Nebraska - 9 wins

Duke - 10 wins

Ga Tech - 7 wins

Cincinnati - 9 wins

Va Tech - 8 wins

UNC - 7 wins

FSU - 14 wins

UVA - 2 wins

Pitt - 7 wins

Average = 8 wins.

That's a tough schedule.

correction to my post above - 10 of the 12 teams went to bowl games last year.

Golden's career record against 8 win teams is like 1-40 or something. But if any of you have doubts about the Canes going 11-1, then suck it! REAL FANS say 11-1 or 12-0!!!!!!!!!

Anything but FAMU and Arkansas State is a tossup or guranteed loss.

The day Golden outcoaches certified bums like London or Fedora, then maybe I will alter my opinion and predict a 8-4 type season.

They won't be as good, and we'll still struggle mightily-- or lose outright to half of them. We are not that talented or well coached. And it will be painfully obvious after week 3. its not beyond the realm of possibility we finish at .500 next year. We could literally crap our pants against all but 3, or maybe 4 opponents.

Sad state of affairs. And the landslide began with GT, if not Va Tech last season. What a shame. What a waste.

The fact of the matter is that Golden is a terrible coach and because of that we have no gimmes and every mediocre to decent team we play is tougher than it should be.

There is exactly one team on our schedule with more talent than us but because of our coaching liability that schedule is considered "tough. "

It's ok.. People didn't see UF as a win either.

And UL is losing 7 starters on Defense. Word is their new DC will implement the 3-4. Going from a 4-3 to 3-4 takes time. So as long Williams or Olsen don't totally give the game I like our chances.

I'm not putting as much stock on the bowl game as you are. Golden rotated a lot of freshman in that game in order to get them experience.
Grace played more then he ever did. He looked a step slow and lost. Carter played a bunch. Elder, etc. For Golden this was clearly an experience building game for next years players.
Plus we were missing Duke.
Contrast that to UL who had their regular 2 deep rotation for most of the game and you got what you got.

You know what I saw in the bowl game? I saw a two teams littered with south Florida high school football players.

Team A employed an aggressive defensive scheme that played to the strengths of its defensive personnel. At the LB position, in particular, Team A had LB's destroying Team B's runningbacks.

Team B played completely uninspired and ran a scheme that hindered the strengths of its defensive personnel. At the LB position, in particular, there was an instance where Team B had LB's lining up against WR's.

Quiz time CaneAlmighty, who was Team A and who was Team B?

How can you realistically not place as much stock in that bowl game!? We were beaten in every phase of the game... ill-prepared, played with zero intensity. Forget the roster turnover & talent. They had and will have a better coaching staff, and one that will school us again.

I know everyone has their point of view, but this may be one of the most egregious examples of rationalization and denial I've seen yet. Its this type of thinking-- that the administration and coaching staff seem to employ, that has this program about to circle the bowl.

LOL reality doesn't support my theory?

Golden's 1-22 record versus teams with 8+ wins says differently.

The dogfights we've been in the past two years with any decent team says differently. Every decent team we've played since he's been here has either been a nail-biter win for us or a loss. Duke last year or this year. UNC last year or this year. Virginia, Wake Forest, NC State last year.

What games has Golden won so far that he shouldn't have won? I'll wait.

His best wins to date are wins against the worst Ohio State team in over a decade and the worst Florida team in a decade. He has a **** of resume.

But yeah, nothing supports my theory that he's a liability as a coach.

After a nice swig of my spiked orange and green koolaid, I see 9 or 10 wins in that lineup. Yessiree hic!
