20 Players expected at Miami pro day tomorrow

McGee is gonna be the Sam Shields of the class. Only he is gonna actually get drafted. He will get picked up by a really good team, have a veteran mentor him and just slide right into a dime spot. I really like how he developed and think a NFL DB coach can take him to another level.

I think Davon Johnson will be the "Darnell Jenkins" of this class. A guy that earns a good living making 6 figures on a practice squad for like 4-5 years. Maybe one day getting a real shot with the big boys. And he has more speed then Darnell ever had.

Im rooting for Coop but like the last poster said..He is just not durable enough for the big boys. Mike James too. Definitely rooting for the kid. **** if Damian Berry can be on a practice squad and be one broken ankle from being the 3rd string guy then MJ should be too.

Colliers agent's first phone call once he goes undrafted should be to the Patriots. I could see him really flourishing at that slot in that system. You don't have to be fast just super quick and be very sure handed. Thats Pimp all the day!

I just knew Marcus Rob would get a good look at 3-4 OLB. Whats his deal? Is he not fast enough?

Everyone else I think should just call it a day. Had a good run but just give the dream up. Ben Jones would have been a solid candidate but he cant stay healthy. Buchanon too.

Hey if Vince Young is going to be at the Texas Longhorns pro-day

Why can't J-12....CRAZINESSS

I always thought it was hilarious how NCAA always had Ray Ray as a 96 rating and VT as like a 92. It made zero sense.

Anyways, IMO Ray Ray should've been a Tight End.

Count me in the crew holding out hope for Ray Ray to make a career for himself. Big J12 & Coop fan as well. Wish all those guys the best

+1000000

Hey Ray accumulated 79 tackles and 3 picks as a safety... He's good in run support... Kid started playing db once he made it here and had a few road blocks his last two years... I think he can make it... Harris wasn't a bad qb and he wasn't a bad leader... I remember VT 09 when Graham was dropping all of those passes... Harris went over and gave him some encouraging words to keep his head up and Graham never had a game like that again... I think he even went to him for his first pass against Okie for a td... The kid was a good leader just had a bad junior year and started from scratch his senior year with a new staff... During his senior year he also threw some perfect passes... VT, UVA, KSU and UNC come to mind...

As for Coop, I hope he's healthy... Kid did absolutely everything... These guys went through a lot during their tenure at the U... I think they can catch on somewhere...

I think MRob issue was coverage and I think he was too small for DE... That being said, is he's healthy he'll catch on... He's a good prospect...

I don't know how i feel about former players coming back and participating again at Pro Days...

It is nice for the school to be able to give their players another shot since that's the only way these guys can get all those teams to see them work out.

But on the flip side, it takes away from the current players entering the draft. That Texas Pro Day is going to be a circus with Vince Young there.

I use to say the same thing im like how the.....are they the best two safeties on the game

I don't mind it but like you say it would kinda suck for the current players like..... it would be mad depressing id be like **** ALL these dudes ain't make it?

Ray Ray and Telemaque fit the cover 2 system better. They played their halfs of the field well. Now take them out of the cover 2 and make them cover more area and their lack of speed becomes real obvious. They fit the old defense cause it allowed them to do what they did well without requiring them to do things they just couldn't. Ray Ray could have success in the NFL, but its going to depend on going somewhere that doesn't ask their SS to cover a lot of space. Hopefully he's spent the past year working with a speed coach cause even if he doesn't play fast in the league he needs to break 4.6 something.

And glad to see Cooper back out there. Was never going to be a starting NFL back, but could definitely have been a guy who makes a roster and helps the team in multiple ways.

Nice to see Collier out there too. Dude just was a football player. If he had the discipline to stay in shape and keep his mind right he could have made it in the league as a slot guy. He had that "it" factor. Been a while though. Doubt its still there.

And what happened with the CFL for Jacory? Didn't he get signed like a month ago? He's still listed as being on the roster for Edmonton.

Wasn't Davon Johnson injured badly? Felt for him. He was our most reliable receiver at certain points last year. Caught nearly everything thrown his way. I was really rooting for him.

Absolutely loved Davon last year. He was our best WR at one point and was super clutch. He made a lot of big grabs and never dropped anything. Might be Al's best reclamation project to date. I wish him tremendous success in whatever he does with his life.

If somebody gets Ray Ray's head on straight and teach him for a season. Some NFL team is going to get a friggin steal. Wish we could have developed him more than what we did....

Why in the world would anyone believe this?

When did he ever display instincts or skills which would make him viable in the NFL, let alone a 'steal?'

i've never understood the infatuation w/ Ray Ray. he had a couple of big hits, but was woefully deficient in coverage, which does not bode well for a safety at any level, but particularly the NFL. i'll be shocked if he makes a roster, beyond a brief practice squad tenure.

Not only was he deficient as a player, but he was a selfish a##hole who put himself above the team and ficked the program. Fugg 'im.

We played Cover-2 at Miami all the time and VT and/or Ray-Ray never made any plays. Safeties have to be able to run to play in a Cover-2 scheme. You're covering half the field. In Cover-3 you're only covering a 3rd or the flats. How do you think NFL teams expose Troy Polomalu? They spread the Steelers out and make Troy cover half the field.

Cover-2 safeties have to cover way more ground.

**** I'm happy to see the pimp out there, kid was extremely reliable and has been through some crazy **** with his little boy passing away.

Hope the rest of the guys can land somewhere as well, a lot Of these guys were a product of poor player development.

would not be surprised to see Ray Ray turn into a decent pro with proper guidance. Some of u give yourselves too much credit when it comes to player evaluation and projections. Haven't been on this site very long, but it would be interesting to see what the consensus was on sam shields future in football after leaving here

Does anyone know if Rayray is drafted if he counts as a Miami player still? Did he ever play for another school?

I remember when everybody would argue about who was going to be better in college Ray Ray Armstrong or Andre Debose

The guy just wasn't as good as he was rated to be out of high school. Happens to a lot of guys. In recent years, it has happened to a lot of guys who have played at Miami unfortunately.

And when that becomes a trend, it starts to fall on the coach's shoulder rather than the players. All our top rated guys for the most part recently didn't pan out, so we said buh bye to Corch Shannon, one of the greatest Corches of All time.

I've got a funny feeling that the high rated kids coming out of high school that choose Miami now wont turn out to be busts.. Just a feeling I get due to the beast who's driving this ship now. Not a Corch but an actual Coach who has proven his ability to turn things around before. :quag:
