20 Players expected at Miami pro day tomorrow

Am I the only one who thinks Ray would have played well his senior season like McGee?

Wieclaw, Botts, James, Mcgee are the guranteed future procanes from that list.

Ben Jones, Jeremy Lewis, and Buchanan have a chance.

The rest should look at other pro football leagues IMO.

It's very tough to make the league as a K or P, not sure either Weiclaw or Botts will make it. We've had a lot of good ones here that never played in the league, Huerta, Sievers, Capshaw, etc

Was always really surprised Sievers didn't get an extended look.

Yeah, taht was a surprise. For my money, the dude has been the best kicker we've had here since Huerta. The guy had a tremendous leg and can do everthing on kickoffs - touchbacks, angle is close, pooch, etc. He did what he wanted. My guess is that he didn't have the competitive nature to stick it out in the pros.

I hope my Eagles draft Ray, we need another safety to blow coverages and miss tackles in space.

I'm not a hater of any UM player, but if a guy is mediocre or sucks, I will not deny it either just because he is a Cane, I've never understood that mentality of people in all walks of life. It is what it is, if he is not that good, so be it that is not hating it just is the truth. Fact of the matter is with Jacory, no he was ok, not terrible but not good either. This is where the numbers lie a bit with him, way too many times he had opportunities to complete a big throw and didn't. Now he wasn't the problem at UM either, way too much credit is given to the qb in football, but that is another argument all together. With that said, hope he is able to get something out of this pro day. And glad to see that the University is giving them another chance at this pro day that is intended for the 2013 prospects.

As for Ray Ray, feel for the kid, never lived up to the hype, that was given to him and that he brought on himself, especially wearing #26. Was it him, was it the coaching? Probably both. But I can tell you this for a fact, my buddy's brother graduated from UM in 2012, guess who was in his graduating class? Ray Ray. Regardless of how he performed, at least that kid took advantage of the opportunity to get a degree from a top 40 institution, and although his football exploits were nothing, he did not let that get in his way of getting a top ranked college degree. And according to my buddy, he is all Cane through and through.

All in all, hope the best for these guys, were they mediocre, were they bad? Some were some were not, that is not hating, just stating what was, that still doesn't mean I, and I think the other "supposed haters", want them to fail, and most importantly, they are all Canes and still part of the Canes family, so I want them to succeed after their time here at UM. Listen, I am the oldest of 4 boys, and one of my brothers is an idiot, really, not intelligent at all, good kid, will kill for you, kind of guy if you go into battle you want him on your side, but have an intellectual discussion with him and you want to shoot your brains, he's my brother and I love him and will kill for him cus he's my family, that still doesn't change what is. The same goes, I believe, when we talk about Cane's who are or are not producing.

He was a LB trying to play safety. In the NFL, he will find his right position. I think he could be a serviceable reserve LB in the NFL.

I have no idea why you'd think that, to be honest. He showed me nothing that would lead me to believe he has the frame, instincts or physicality to take on and shed blockers and mix it up around the LOS.

Why is Jacory Harris coming back? Did he not have his pro-day last year?

He was invited to the combine last year as a "thrower" but not necessarily as a QB per se.... It did garner him some attention through.

And, consider the fact that 2013 isn't as big a year for QB's as was 2012....

Who knows, maybe he's been perfecting some things behind the scenes?? So why not come back more polished, and give it another crack at it

People say LB for Ray Ray bc of his height, weight and football deficiencies but look at the young man. He doesn't have the frame to add another 20-30 lbs. As long as he is, I never see him getting to that 240-250 range and I don't think he's strong enough or instinctive enough to be that 230 lb, undersized guy that a spence is. Wish him the best, none the less

Well thought out post here. I understand and agree with what you've stated to a degree. We can agree to disagree on Jacory. I thought he did what he could do and played to his strengths. Every player has strengths and weaknesses. From Peyton Manning to Mathew Stafford there is always something to improve on. His biggest weakness was his arm strength coming out of school. If you're not confident in that arm to hit wide open receiver's then ok that's not necessarily a negative if the offense is based off timing. Drew Brees lacks in arm strength as does Peyton Manning. They predict when the receiver's will come off their breaks and throw to where they are suppposed to be. 9/10 they are correct. I think Jacory did a better job of masking arm strength in his senior season. His sophomore season truly showed how talented he could be to me personally. I don't believe he was an abysmal QB or a great one either but he was a step above serviceable.

Ray Ray was a bust it's that simple. Nothing more and nothing less.

I truly agree about the family thing though. This is a Cane Family. I LOVE this team and all the fans. If I lived in Miami I'd be at every game whether 0-12 or 12-0. That's support! We got wannabee canes family members only showing up when we are good. The past few years we've been average I support those that post here because they seem like REAL canes fans. Here through the harsh times. Whether you post here or CS or Caneinsider or whatever, we are all canes fans and our players are canes. Just like a frat, secret society, political party, brotherhood, a team, or the military (me currently) you'll alway's have people within the organization that you cannot stand. But if an outsider so much as sniffs the wrong way at a member of the team. Then every single person within that family or organization will step up and defend that person. It's like a FSU fan comes on the board and starts attacking our players IDK about nobody else but I will fight these online debates in support of my canes. That's why I expressed the support for Jacory and Ray Ray. Despite my not being the fan of ray ray I feel like in a family we are the biggest critics because we want to see not a few but ALL canes succeed here. That would be cool. Success is not only measured on the football field. There's plenty of other ways an athlete could be successful during their duration in Coral Gables.

And then Ray Ray will go to the league... Blow up... And cats on here will say how we just wasted his talent and blame Randy Shannon and company. LOL. You guys don't get tired of doubting these kids? Sam Shields, Harland Gunn, Spencer Adkins, Antonio Dixon, Demarcus Van Dyke just to name a few. A group of guys who didnt do diddly squat here and with some coaching and some proper guidance ended up making NFL squads. (Not the practice squad either. NFL squads!) I think Ray Ray is gonna go to a team that sees potential and develop him properly and will be a decent pro. You cats are painting this guy to be Jeff Popovich!

It will be almost impossible for Ray Ray to go to the NFL and morph into Sean Taylor.
Main reason is football I.Q. If you combined Ray Ray's Football I.Q. with Telemaque's the sum total still wouldn't be even half of Kenny Phillip's.
Wouldn't be half of Tremain Mack's.
That's the problem with our former safeties. Not football talent, but grey matter talent. They just never got it between the ears.
Bad angles. No discipline. VT's stupid pass interference penalties 8 yards deep on 3rd and 15.

As for Jacory: Ken Dorsey didn't have the arm to make it in the NFL as anything more than a backup and Jacory's arm makes Dorsey's look like Elway.

The best of the best make it to big time college football and then the best of that best make it to the NFL.
That's where Morris' has a huge advantage for pro scouts.
Not a lot of arms like Morris' in football.

Vince Young is working out at Texas' Pro Day. If he can do it, I dont see why Jacory or Brock Berlin cant give it a shot.

RudeBuddha, he doesn't have to be ST. He or nobody in our generation will be ST. I just feel like there will be a scout that will see a 6'4 225 4.6 40 specimen and want to invest a 5th round pick on him. Maybe 4th. I think Al will give him a GREAT recommendation. The kid was turning the corner his final year here AND he was Mel Kipers #1 rated Junior/Senior safety prospect! To say he has zero shot is just sour grapes if you ask me. Yes, the kid came in here and we expected ST 2.0. And he didn't help his cause any by always comparing himself to ST. But I definitely think he will earn a living in the NFL. JMO.

I am rooting for them ALL but I want to see the these players do something:

Marcus Robinson (AT LB)
Mike James
Ramon Buchanan
Davon Johnson
*I like Ray ray
Thearon Collier was a nice slot WR...

I want to see if
Vaughn Telemaque can make a roster

Pimp aka WR Thearon Collier!! Thought he had hung it up or something...I'll never forget the return against VA, but I just don't think the NFL speed is there
WR Kendal Thompkins, I think he can make a good slot receiver/return man. But, in the NFL, when your a special teams guy, you may have go down and make a tackles too. For this reason, teams typically go with a DB with return skills.
DL Marcus Robinson, IMO, he would make a great OLB in a 3-4 system on a team like the Chargers, Steelers, Jets...
OL Jeremy Lewis can be developed... He wasn't a starter, but when he was in during his SR year, he actually did a really good job.
LB Ramon Buchanan, will make a team as a S/T player... Give him a few years to add some weight/muscle, and he might get in the rotation.
RB Graig Cooper, understand why he would give it another shot, as he's probably just now back to full speed. Even so, I don't think he's NFL fast or durable enough.
S Ray-Ray Armstrong, doesn't have the quick twitch hips or feet, to compete at the NFL level at Safety. Despite his size only made 2 big tackles: OU guy in mid-air & QB from FAMU.

S Vaughn Telemaque <--Not even worth bold font. Never proved he took his craft seriously enough to improve from year to year.
