10 Days Out From December 4th

Here’s what’s gonna happen. We will land a big time kid we didn’t think we would. We will lose a battle that will be upsetting. And we will close with Alford. Wiley will go elsewhere. Even if we finish 10-12 I expect the portal to be used heavily this year. We need a QB, DBs with experience, a receiver, and DT badly. I expect fans to complain no matter what.

Miami strikes out at CB again. Pickett ends up at UGA not LSU, Hanks UF, Merritt at Tennessee.

For LB - Doesn't get Alford, but signs Wiley in the spring.

Will be a suprise flip similar to the DE from Cali, who that is i have 0 clue.

Finishes 11th or the early signing day.

Kinda felt like we backed ourselves into a corner and waited till the last minute and had to overpay?

Could be wrong but that was a late commitment wasn’t it?

But not to get too off topic I am pumped for this finish. I know there’s some elite program classes ahead of us but some flips are coming (us and others) so it could get a shake up

We’ve got big money and big balls and there’s some people outside of who D has mentioned that are still in play I think

Again, if you land top ten classes yearly you have the talent to compete. We landed a top 7 last year. We will have years we land a 5-7. That’s how it works. This is a very good class. Lowe was a great pull. We will close.

Top 7 is where you want to live. There’s a big difference between 7-10 and 1-7 usually. We can agree to disagree I still think we will finish strong

We had to kinda overpay in general last cycle. It taking Ward until January to commit hurt us a bit as well. The portal classes have been better year over year so hopefully this cycle we really hit. I think we will still finish strong and last I heard we still feel we’re right in it for Hanks and Pickett but let’s see. You need to land at least one or the DB class was a failure imo

I agree I will say I think we did a great job with portal + recruiting last year all things considered

One of the better all around programs

Absolutely had some misses that are biting us but I feel like we have a pretty good plan in place as far as structure goes. I don’t know a whole lot but it appears that way anyway

We had more hits than misses and some of those misses are still contributing just not at the level we had hoped. Hill and Barron are the only whiffs imo but at least Barron played well against UF lol. Maybe Alderman too but he could come good next season who knows. We can argue underperforming for others too but at least they’ve given us snaps.

Alderman has played well the last couple of games. Hope he balls out (Pause) this weekend and the ACC Championship game, playoffs and keeps it rolling next season.

What coach in our entire history put consistant 1-3 classes???? We’ve just never been that nor think we ever will. Yet we have 5 titles.

Stop with the BS numbers. “Oh, we’re top 10. No, we’re gonna be outside the top 13.” Fact is, Mario has & will recruit enough talent to win, including in the portal. The man is good, but it’s silly to assume he has the money or the program stature - see: conference affiliation (which is also money), college town atmosphere, butts in the seats - to consistently go head to head with Georgia, Bama, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.

Nah I’m with you there. We recruited very well last year and I think we were in that ballpark. I’ll agree with 7. If we finish 11th shows we need to hammer the portal more which can be either outstanding like Michigan St with Tucker and FSU last year or horrible like we have seen multiple teams display. But remember, need has to do with some of the rankings also. Next year we will be spending on premium positions like tackle etc. So i expect the class to be closer to top 5 then maybe this class will be.

We also have always been in lesser conference too. Let's keep winning and getting great players and see what happens!
 
We flip both OSU kids and Pickett.

For the guys screaming about the portal, what positions do we really need to hammer? I’ve seen QB, DBs, LB and DT listed by some. Most I could see us getting via portal is six guys , maybe seven (1 QB, 2 DB, 1 or 2 LB and 1 or 2 DT). If we take more, where? At some point the young guys on the team gotta step up. DT next year looks like J Scott, Moten, A Jones, Horton and a transfer, maybe two. If we can’t get an elite QB in the portal, I don’t see the point in taking one. Some of our young DBs need to step up - Brown, Patterson, Stafford, Robbie Washington, Dylan Day and hopefully an incoming freshman. Add 1 or 2 transfers and I think we are good. LBs have Adarius, Popo, Wes, Pruitt and Alderman coming back. How many more we have room for? My entire philosophy is I hope we stick we high end guys only. At some point the HS recruiting needs to see the field.

Besides Qb/Db/LB/DT. We’ll need a center to replace carpenter and another OL if cooper leaves. Impact WR to start opposite of Zay would’nt hurt either.
