I can blame Mario for coaching blunders and for hiring a bad DC but I cant blame him for recruiting

I generally think he does a good job at roster management and if he can take whatever funds were allocated to Stubbs and Nix and use those to say keep Pringle, Moore and try to flip Alford, Carter and for others then im fine with it

This isn't rocket science, we either overpay or Mario is cooked on the trail. His so called "elite" recruiting ability has been rendered useless in today's world of recruiting.

Mind you, not ever sure where elite came from when in 7 full classes between Oregon and Miami he has managed 1 top 5 class and the average player rating put that class at 10th best to boot. So, it really wasn't as good as people believe it was.

Fact is, if Mario gets bodied in this class, he is done, done. Without elite coordinators, he LITERALLY needs every class to be top 5 to have even the slightest shot of even winning the ACC, not even going to discuss a NC. Finishing around 15th which were we may be headed he will never recover from.
I ain’t gonna go that far…Lance stubbornness killed Mario 12-0 season….he is an elite recruiter but not elite in talent evaluation…that’s the problem….

I dont understand now the Florida hype

Obviously they must now have improved their NIL game because Napier is awful coach, does not seem like the most charasmatic person and quite honestly he sounds uneducated when he speaks

Maybe its the SEC thing or the narrative about how good the Conference is ( it is the best ) and maybe a bit of the Lagway hype ( although I don't see it yet) but losing recruits to UF is unexplainable
Money and selling the Lagway hype….we got some money but who we selling Jud ??

I hate that i'm a middle aged man and I get to work and log here to see wtf 18yr old high school football players are deciding

***** these players. These kids know nothing about real life

The part that bothers me most is that there is actually people in Gainesville and Columbus whose happiness is predicated on this stuff

He is not elite. Nothing in the numbers support that. I just showed it in another thread broken down.

Ponds. He would have been a nickel here. Not safety. And according to those in the know..we went after him hard..he chose to stay loyal to his coach and follow him to Indiana. Cant blame the kid for loyalty. College football could use alot more of that nowadays.
Not who I’m talking about. Starting safety from Indiana last year hit the portal but went back when Ciggy got the job

Dude can recruit with the best of them…now talent evaluation is another story…I know you posted recruiting rankings only one top 5 finish between Oregon to Miami etc etc…dude still can recruit now his game day decisions and his talent evaluation definitely needs work…imo

What a complete over reaction right now… if you didn’t know this is what we got when we hired Mario, lulz. We are 10-2, did we miss an opportunity? Ohhh we missed a major one, but again, are you surprised? Once again we still went 10-2 for only the second time in the last 20 years.

No one says he can't recruit, but again, he is NOT ELITE. Nothing supports that at all. People need to stop throwing that around as if it is factual, it's the furthest thing fom it.

And he is evals and or player development are not that good at all when you factor in his class rankings. Maybe I'll post a thread on it, but from his 4 classes while at Oregon, of his 98 high school recruits, 8 were drafted. That is 8.1%. That is equivalent to having 1.76 players on average per year from your high school recruits in your starting 22.

So he isn't even fielding on average 1 NFL player on both side of the ball per year. Where is this guy elite? At what?

Guys it ain’t all about money all the time.

Here are the factors:
Kids from Jacksonville gaytor country
Our defense was awful especially secondary
He’s a safety
Guidry gone maybe chevis (his position coaches)

Recruiting and evaluating talent are two different things imo…you can be a great recruiter to the wrong type of kids…that’s why I don’t worry about recruiting rankings and care more talent evaluation and development..now to say he ain’t developed the kids he has brought in or missed on evals is facts we agree on that…

Tons of teams missed a chance.

Ole Miss
Ohio State probably will
Alabama
LSU

This isn't just a Miami thing it's ******* hard to win.

How did this become a thread about the level of recruiter Mario is? lol. (and "No", i'm not new here. LOL)

So who are the elite recruiters on your board and where did they finish in the recruiting rankings compared to Miami last year?

We will never crack TIER 1 consistently unless we are competing for NC's regularly, developing kids into day 1 and day 2 picks as well as paying top dollar. Tier 1 is ELITE.

But the bottom is based on last year. Holds true overall though, however if Michigan with Ellison and others actually go hard like they are saying, they would go all the way from fringe Tier 3 to Tier 1. And UF can always easily be in Tier 2 as well.

TIER 1
Georgia: (93.37)
Alabama: (93.12)
Ohio State: (92.79)
Oregon: (92.19)
Texas: (92.37)

TIER 2:
Auburn: (92.10)
Tennessee: (91.16)
Texas A&M (91.43)
LSU (90.82)
Miami: (91.00)

TIER 3:
Notre Dame (91.46)
Florida (91.35)
Oklahoma (90.84)
Clemson (90.63)
Michigan (90.27)

Major lost opportunity. What's crazy is who else is 10-2 and doesn't get crapped on for losing to teams without winning records. I have 3 kids now none of them were alive the last time we won 10 games lol it doesn't happen often for us. It hurts bad right now but you know what in the middle of the summer I'm going to go back and enjoy highlights more than I have in awhile.

one thing no one is talking about is the fact the talent level is down across the board in 2025 class. there are no Jeremiah smiths in this class.
Overall there are kids who are low 5 stars, high 4 stars that probably wouldnt have been last year.
