Mario continues his hold as a value investor in Alabama youth football. It makes sense that a resurgence in the college programs, both ‘Bama and Auburn, would create an energized environment.

I know the state of Alabama has always had good players— even before 2008. Still, having 2 programs in the national championship game 11 out of the last 16 years can only make the state more fertile & competitive.
Good coaching in that area too. There will be some battles with Auburn in that area but it’s an area that routinely puts out good players.

If I'm not mistaken, he was only the safeties coach at Auburn. Wouldn't being the passing came coordinator and running the entire DB unit at Houston be an upgrade?
I'm certain he could've gotten a bump in title at his alma mater. Funnily enough, they ended up replacing him w our old friend McGriff.

Good hire hope we continue to beef up non countable coaching staff. No reason not to have solid coaches everywhere during PRACTICE and GAMES. Assume he will bring over some non countable coaches he has worked with.

McGriff and Freeze have history. Wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted someone more “aligned” with his recruiting approach.

"247Sports has reported that Etheridge is expected to accept a position at Houston. Etheridge was also reportedly a finalist for the head-coaching job with Louisiana-Monroe. Etheridge is a native of Troy who was a star player at Charles Henderson High School, earning Alabama-Mississippi All-Star honors in 2005. He went on to play college football at Auburn, earning Freshman All-American honors in 2007."

For all the people that are concerned with his departure from Auburn. Good sign that he was a finalist for a head coaching job last season

Houston staff completed turned around that defense last season.

Curious to see is it DB coach or only 1 of CB or S? My guess is he’s taking the entire DB room which would mean we’re probably also going for another DL coach. Or maybe a LB/ST guy.
